As for the Angel that falls from space, the only other tactic I can think of to defeat it is to use massed firepower to (somehow) keep it off the ground. Otherwise... I don't know.
Locking you up on radar since '09Name: Lloyd Kabuto
Sex: Male
Age: 29
Nationality: 50% British. 50% Japanese. 100% Scientist, 200% Certifiably Insane, and 0% Empathy.
Physical Description: Scrawny doctor-type, with white hair, blue eyes, and glasses. Almost never seen without a high-collared lab coat.
Backstory: Born in Britain to an upper-middle class family, Lloyd's life was pretty much normal, except that he was born with a condition that left him with a greatly underdeveloped sense of empathy, and his parents, though doting, were both very busy businesspeople, which meant that Lloyd was often left home alone. So, little Lloyd filled his time with tinkering around with spare machinery, reading, and watching Super Robot shows. By the age of six, he had already chosen his life's work: Lloyd wanted to build Giant Mechas for a living.
Surprisingly, this was actually a feasible, if somewhat unrealistic goal for the young boy. For Lloyd, you see, was something of a prodigy. He found all of his schoolwork pathetically easy, so much so that he was continually advanced ahead of his peers, until at the age of 10, he was finally admitted into an esteemed University in Germany. Not surprisingly, he thrived in this new environment, and managed to rack up so much scholarship money that he went through University several times to gain numerous degrees.
It was during his stay at the University that Second Impact took place, and he was recruited by GEHIRN shortly thereafter. Since then, he has had a hand in designing various Evangelions, as well as the MAGI system, among other things.
Family: Parents and grandparents are desceased. No siblings, although he does have a few extended relatives (cousins, etc.). Always got along well enough with his family, but his inability to connect with people prevented him from forming real attachments to them, and he seems to understand familial love only in the abstract, intellectual sense.
Residence: Lives alone in a moderately large apartment. Has secondary quarters at NERV, for when he and his team pull all-nighters.
Job: Technical Division Commander
Life Skills: Mediocre life skills, good enough to get by. Doesn't have a particularly good sense of time, especially when engrossed in working on his projects. Knows several languages, including Japanese, English, German, and Latin.
Combat Skills: Proficient enough with a needle or scalpel to hold his own, if it ever came down to it. Knows exactly how to use an Eva, although his actual combat skill in one would be subpar.
Friends: Due to his horrible people skills, Lloyd claims to not have any friends. Despite this, he may or may not care about his assistants and the Bridge Bunnies. He greatly admires the Commander for his efficency and sheer, cold-blooded ruthlessness, two things he can understand very well.
Enemies: Being more or less oblivious to the feelings of others, Lloyd has a lot of people who may consider him an enemy. Lloyd, of course, doesn't understand this, as he sees most everyone not as people, but as tools, and often tells them so. He can also be a bit insufferable sometimes.

GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsPerfect!
We're actually ready to start, unless you guys want someone as NERV's commander. Otherwise, Gendo will do.
Sweet! Gendo is fine for me.
Gendo as Commander is great. It wouldn't really be the same without him, I think.
GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsI'm down with Gendo too. And I just realized... I'm gonna be eaten by an angel. Great. Who knows, maybe Tenshi's belief/hope in magic (to those who know D&D, it's more like psionics) will play a role. This sounds like it's getting good! But I can't really complain, why wouldn't the undesignated AMERICAN pilot the AMERICAN Eva?
So as I sing now, I call forth Unlimited Leek Works!^ Not necisarily, we're tossing the usual canon out the window. It may not be your EVA that gets Bardiel'd.
Still, great, if that does happen it means I'm going to get Mind Raped =/
Dilemma: Going by the mother/pilot principle, that means Unit 01 does not have Yui for a soul. So, what are Gendo's motivations? How will have Yui died instead?

Here's a crazy idea I had while I was doing my chores. Maybe in this continuity, Yui was involved in the first-contact experiment with Adam that kicked off second impact, and she ended up fused with/absorbed by it. Since the Evas are clones of Adam, maybe there's a little bit of Yui's soul in each evangelion?
Does this mean Shinji's got an okay relationship with his dad in this continuity? Or does he still abandon him to his foster family?
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!Going by the logic that each Eva pilot will experience the same thing their counterparts in the series did, then that means Minoru will be roasted to a crisp when he tests a s2 engine.
Of course, that's (hopefully) unlikely...
Locking you up on radar since '09I was sick, but now I'm back!
Let's get this party started. I'll set up the discussion thread now and we can sort this out.
Glad to have you back!
Locking you up on radar since '09Same here . I was getting worried this RP had died.
Well, I just started:
Discussion | Main
- Name: Naoto Karaki
- Sex: male
- Age: 13
- Nationality: Japanese
- Physical Description: a healthy young boy, black hair that looks neatly combed, and green eyes. He seems to, oddly enough, have overdeveloped muscles for his age. He also has rather pale skin, despite often being seen swimming. He seems to have odd effects manifest on him when an Angel shows up. If he is exposed too long, he develops large bulges of flesh eventually culminating in a horrifically painful transformation. . Due to the extreme strain on his body, this renders him unconscious, and his subconscious then takes on its own will, and starts enacting the "Natural Will of an Angel." His mutations can be countered by administration of a needle full of an odd fluid.
- Backstory: The son of some scheming scientists, one of whom is a rather insane illegitimate son of Gendou, he was put through an extremely inhumane experiment at an early age that caused him to become something else. It is implied that he was rescued from being a stillborn due to an infusion of some "odd tissue". Thus, his entire life has been one episode of High Octane Body Horror after another. Even being exposed to religious looking things cause an outbreak of some variety of horrific mutation.
- Family: Dr. and Nurse Karaki.
- Residence: a nice little home, mostly paid for and kept safe due to his parent's dark ties to a certain ominous council.
- Job: student
- Life Skills: he is rather inept, but he sure can fight.
- Combat Skills: he has few combat skills, but seems to have a natural fighting instinct that makes him fight like an animal.
- Friends: not many, other than some Nerds who are just curious about him.
- Enemies: He has made a lot of the bullies and jerks at the school his enemies for repeatedly and violently resisting.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but he seems kinda Marty Stu-ish.
edited 25th Sep '10 11:47:24 PM by Gaunt88
what can I do to improve him and lessen this effect?
please use valid criticism. Marty Stu, as a trope, is degenerate, and used more as an insult.
Well, if I may interject here, it's that so much of his description is exceptions. Over-muscled for his age, fair-skinned despite spending a lot of time outside, a genetically modified person in a setting where they are very rare and the offensive AV shield are probably the main points, especially the latter. My general experience is that if something breaks Canon, especially to serve as a mark of uniqueness in a single character, then it tends to be written off as Sueish. Sometimes Vehemently.
If you want to keep the genetic experiment thing, it'd probably be better to play him up as a part-Lilth Clone who fills the part of Rei [which we need, or needed] with his dad working on Nerv either as a strange loner scientist or some illegitimate child of Gendos' [which carries a lot of fun Neuroses with it, though I'd be slightly more nervous about this since it'd take a lot to RP effectively]. Of course this will take GM approval and what not as well as a lot more consulting and less freedom than playing a regular character, but allows you keep pretty much everything you have now.
edited 26th Sep '10 7:42:20 PM by Fauxlosophe
the illegitimate son with the neuroses would be fun to rp. Though I would leave the dad's part to a more skilled R Per.
yeah, I was thinking that, like, if a Rei type character comes along, he basically becomes a squicky Yandere around her, due to the genetic bond.
I will remove the Offensive Shield, though.
I'm sorry if I insulted you, I was in a bit of a hurry when I posted before.
Fauxlophe pretty much nailed it. A half-angel biological experiment who can use an AT field sets off alarm bells, especially when it doesn't mesh with the 'verse and the rest of us are playing normal humans.
Besides, isn't most of the fighting in this RP going to be Eva-on-Angel? All the Evas are taken, so he wouldn't be able to do much, unless he's capable of fighting an angel on foot, which would push the sue-meter into the red for me.
Unfortunately, I can't think of much that woulf fix this without drastically changing your character (like maybe dropping the horrible mutations and the Superpowered Evil Side).
(PS: I'm sorry, I'm being a snob, aren't I? )

oh i didn't notice the signups thread, i've been busy with exams. i only have the math exam left tommorow, and that's so stupidly easy i can guarantee i'll ace it, so i can rest easy and sort this thing out now.
i'm not sure how to fit you in, but if you play the role of the creepy third-impact-inducing guy then there can be a nightmare fueled sort of father-son thing going on with gendo. also, since naoto seems to have violent tendencies he could be used as a backup last resort pilot that NERV prefers not to use because he pretty much induces instant controlled berserk or something. i think this could work well. discuss how you want to fit in in the discussion thread and we'll work it out. i'm open to suggestions.
EDIT: i think we need more bridge bunnies. as long as you think you understand how she's characterized, feel free to use her as Ms. Exposition or whatever. in fact, expand on her character all you like since she's an npc anyway, just try not to cause mix-ups
Sex: Female
Age: 21
Nationality: Japanese
Physical Description: Average height, shoulder-length black hair.
Backstory: An extreme Wide-Eyed Idealist in every sense, Yukino was a prodigy with a pampered childhood. She grew up largely ignorant of the world and is rather lacking in social skills, prone to babble about nearly anything and speak her mind (even when it gets her into trouble), but her boundless optimism makes up for it. Unfortunately, working for NERV frequently breaks the cutie. She is in constant conflict with the commander's ends-justifies-the-means attitude and has the pilot's best interests at heart.
Family: Elderly senile mother from who she gets frequent embarassing phonecalls from, father deceased.
Residence: A small apartment.
Job: Bridge Bunny
Life Skills: Extremely computer literate
Combat Skills: Nothing
Friends: Pretty much everyone except the commander. Especially the pilots and the other bridge bunnies.
Enemies: No one, unless someone really hates her optimism.
woops i think i just Expy'd maya to some degree
