It's getting to be that time of the year again! Nothing like a bad case of the sniffles to put you in that autumnal spirit!

I've got a runny/stuffy nose and a sore throat to match. I woke up this morning feeling unusually better about it than I had been, thinking, "Hey! Maybe it blew over already...!" Ha. As if. Being able to talk sure would be nice.

I'm just tumbling from one illness to another. Between catching seemingly every minor infection that was floating around last winter, to spending all summer at the psychiatric hospital, to getting mysterious physical symptoms literally the week of my departure from that hospital, to having minor surgery in November for the root of the actually-not-that-mysterious symptoms (it's endometriosis), to slowly recovering from that "minor" surgery... and now I have a normal cold. And a train ticket for tomorrow, to see my family for Christmas. Great. Really.

Combine this with the results of the mayoral election that I posted over in the German Politics Thread and I'm in a baaad mood today. Time to drown my problems in hot water (because swallowing cold water hurts).

Edit: It's not a normal cold, it's Covid. There go my Christmas plans.

I've got a stomach virus again, so I might be a bit less active for a while. Seems like whenever I get sick, it's a coin flip between stomach problems or respiratory problems.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.

[up]Thank you.

I do have a speedy recovery. I'm not recovered, but I'm cycling through different phases of the illness rather quickly. My last vaccine shot was in December 2021, and while it didn't protect me from infection, it's apparently still helpful.

[up][up]That sounds bad. I hope you find some time to relax over the holidays!

I've had a mild sore throat for most of today. It's not significantly impeding on anything, it's just... a mild inconvenience.

Ideally it'll be gone pretty soon.

Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.

I think I might have gotten a cold. I've had a bad cough for 2 days now or so. It's not the worst I've had though.

Seems like I caught a stomach virus that's been going around, especially with how bad I've felt lately. I'm not sure if it was an illness or something more minor when I made my post from last month, but I've felt pretty bad the past few days this month.

Currently recovering from some weird mini flu of the past two days. Mostly was an infrequent cough and a whole boatload of fatigue and heavy feeling but had some chills and a bit of fever yesterday evening. Also had heartburn.

Mostly broken by now. Heartburn gone, heavy feeling went away, most fatigue too. Temperature is relatively consistent. The cough has died down but is persistent enough to have left my throat a little sore.

Maybe it’ll be gone tomorrow.

I think I figured out why my throat has been dry and painful so much yesterday and today. I like the bout of unseasonable warmth I’ve been having, but I think it’s also given the spring allergens a head start. x_x [tdown]

I would make my favorite joke, but I’m wondering how my immune system would react to those seasonal changes, considering that the plant life in Florida and South Africa is vastly different from that of Illinois (Florida is subtropical and South Africa is Mediterranean).

And now I’m getting that unpleasant feeling again. surprised I hope I’m not getting sick. :(

Not sure where else to put this, but since it's complaining about health-related stuff I'm throwing it in here.

So I've had constant, chronic reflux my entire life, and the most that's ever been done about it is shoving some medication at me (OTC meds do nothing). But it's bad enough that it's affecting my sleep and severely restricting my diet (since pretty much all food ever seems to trigger it, and I even get reflux ''on an empty stomach, so that's fun), and since last year I've been talking to a specialist about my options.

I have an appointment next week (in a city that's a 4-5 hour drive away) to undergo a study where they put a rod into your stomach and measure the levels of acid reflux and non-acid reflux produced over a 24-hour period. In order to do that, they want a natural reading of the levels, and I have to stop my medication... 5 days before the appointment.

It's day 2. As I said before, OTC meds (like Gaviscon) do absolutely nothing. While the reflux is still there with my regular medication, I forgot that without it, it, like, hurts sometimes. I'm constantly in discomfort. I can't really describe it other than "I can feel the reflux in there", though.

Anyway, I'm pretty miserable and I am NOT looking forward to the next few days.

Sigh. The joys of having a weird genetic syndrome where you have multiple ongoing health issues that never got dealt with when you were younger because the doctors were just trying to keep you alive.

Seems like I caught some sort of respiratory illness. It's nothing serious, but since it's still an illness, I haven't been feeling the best lately.

Not really an illness, but I'm on my period again and it's been a bitch this time. Somehow I managed to get through yesterday despite it being day one and a long, stressful, busy work day... But all that means is that my day off today was far less relaxing than I wanted since I've been so emotional, crampy, and sleepy (but haven't been able to actually crash any time I tried). >.<

I might have an ear infection, and I plan to get my ear looked at to see if that's the case or not.

Edit: Got it looked at and it's just particularly bad inflammation from allergies.

I've still been dealing with allergy problems, but now it's hay fever instead of ear problems. I've been less active because the symptoms have been kind of cold-like despite it being an allergic reaction and not an infection.

On the subject of ear problems, my right ear has been clogged for about two weeks. Wonderful.

I have a sore throat too (since Thursday) and it seemed like it was getting better.

Nope, now it hurts to move anything in my mouth.

No idea what it could be. I took two COVID tests that were both negative.
