Getting comments on my writing, be they postive or negative, on stories is one of the few things that gets me grinning like a maniac.

More than people stoking my ego, though, I like when people comment about their reactions. It means not only they read the story, it made them think about something. One I remember very clearly was a girl I knew saying

"the scariest part is that I almost found mysef sympthizing with her desire to get back at the loud and boorish kids in my school. Reading this has only made me glad I /don't/ have the power to act out my visceral urges. It's a chilling reminder of how volatile and dangerous adolescents can be.

When I get comments like these, I know that my stories can be more than just 15 minutes of fighting off boredom. They can generate new thoughts, challenge paradigms, and provoke discussion.

And that, my friends, just awes me. :)

I agree OP. Hell, on a story I'm writing I'm getting feedback from Amazing Ben of badassoftheweek.com. Which is totally sweet, and it speaks to his character that he'd help a random fan of the site. He is quite benevolent.

^ I don't know who that is but that is awesome/ :D I'd really like to get some feedback from my idols...I've actually considered joining Chuck Palahniuk.net for the chance to, but I'm not sure if I should drop the $60.
