Well, for Werewolf movies, my favorite has to be Dog Soldiers. It's not incredibly scary, but it's fun, and has possibly one of the biggest feats of awesomeness shown in the medium, you'll know it when you see it. Also, we've got An American Werewolf In London, which has some fairly impressive effects for its time.
When it comes to our fanged friends... I don't have all that many good examples. Blade was fairly cool, and I liked Scorsese's Coppola's version of Dracula, despite Kenau Reeves' attempts at an English accent and the emolicious Count D love subplot, but hey, it's a lot better than some more... recent vampire movies, without mentioning names.
EDIT: I fail at directors.

Liveblog | DeadblogI'd say The Lost Boys is worth a look.
Daybreakers. A vampire movie that doesn't suck, albeit does have its fair share of narm.
"Religion isn't the cause of wars, it's the excuse." —Mycroft NextI agree with everything said already(except Dracula, and it was Francis Ford Coppola, not Scorsese)
The original Dracula and The Wolf Man are both great, and the recent Wolf Man remake is pretty decent too.
I've got two guns pointed west and a broken compass.I actually thought the recent The Wolfman remake was nearly as bad as a SyFy original movie. Maybe I need to give it a re-watch...

Vampires:
Nosferatu, Dracula (Spanish version), Horror of Dracula, The Fearless Vampire Killers, The Hunger, Fright Night, The Lost Boys, The Monster Squad, The Addiction, Nadja (vampires meet David Lynch!), Irma Vep, Blade, Shadow of the Vampire, Thirst, Let Me In (deserved better at the box office)

"All right, kid, where are they? Where are the monsters?"
Classic.
"Religion isn't the cause of wars, it's the excuse." —Mycroft NextWerewolves: Ginger Snaps, and the first sequel. Avoid the third one. These movies are very dark and cynical, but the use of makeup is pretty top-notch and the story is great. Dog Soldiers is also very good.
Vampires: Daybreakers. Interview with a Vampire. And I have a soft spot for Firght Night - those are scary mo-fo.
Very much seconding Ginger Snaps. Watch it.
You might also want to try In The Company Of Wolves, though that's more of a Little Red Riding Hood adaptation than anything.
The Lost Boys is also fine, if only for the Narm Charm the two Coreys bring.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I forgot about The Company of Wolves. Very much seconded.

Finally someone who agrees with me on this.
Werewolf of London from what I hear. and from my personal openion. Return of Dracula and Count Dracula (1977) are my absolute favorite vampire movies of all time
We must survive, all of us. The blood of a human for me, a cooked bird for you. Where is the difference?
I'm having a hard time finding good ones to watch! Please help me!
Underworld does not count as good.
