"Also, there are no other 3 types that have the same effectiveness towards each other."
Psychic/Dark/Fighting.

It's been 3000 years…Psychic was so broken in Gen 1, they had to make dark type immune to it.
And have steel resist it.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Exactly.
I still stand corrected due to Fighting/Rock/Flying however.

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianGive the psychic mon miracle eye and it can hit dark. that's why I'd do if I was making a starter trio with those types.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532there's also fighting/fairy/steel, rock/fire/steel, fighting/ice/flying and grass/ground/poison for other type triangles.
After 10 year plus years I have the confidence to be here. Let's give it EVERYTHING we've got! It's...PUNISHMENT TIMEFighting/Steel/Fairy and Fighting/Ice/Flying aren't perfect triangles though, where each type resists the type they beat. Fighting doesn't resist Steel or Ice attacks, and Ice doesn't resist Flying attacks.
Even if VGC made a separate Singles division, I wouldn't assume they would use similar rules to what Smogon does.
If VGC started doing Singles again they would probably just return to the old official 3v3 rule set.
they would also...
- still ban mythicals
- still ban box mascots (there are some that were OU or worse for compression)
- not ban any mons with less than 600 BST (conversely some I'm sure were placed into Ubers for a while)
- not ban any moves or abilities that aren't exclusive to the above (Dark Void was more of a soft ban by nerf thing)
- nor enforce sleep Clause (hypothetical Stadium remakes aside)
Anyone else think that one way to balance the Bug type could be to make Bug-type moves supereffective against Steel-types? Steel has the most resistances of any type, and you could easily argue that technology is weak against "bugs". So both types would be less skewed.
"I don't have the power to reverse my destiny. [...] But I'm not going to turn away from my fate anymore." — KiriyaFairy shouldn't resist Bug, pretty much.
Plus bug types aren't THAT kind of bug. Hell, not all steel types are machines in nature either, like Steelix or Lucario so the bug virus idea wouldn't make sense from that perspective either.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Gaijin Goomba only just realized that A-Sandslash is based on a grater youkai.
When did vgc ban box legends? Kyougre, Groudon, Yveltal, Xerneas, Zacian are some of the most succesful vgc mons.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."They are generally banned with the exception of Restricted Formats. Restricted Formats allow one or two box legendaries, but not more.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.2 usually from memory. Round 1 is normally just the region dex without legends, round 2 adds them, etc.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Bug type could definitely use something. It seems like they're trying to give it a specialty of debugging moves, but I don't know that those are especially good.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut. Its truly amazing how it has no niche whatsover. Grass in contrast gets status and grassy surge which have ensured an excellent run in competitive. Ice is also one of the best offensive types in the game and when they actually make massive ice attackers it really pays off. (especially with snow and the buff it gave) Bug uh.....
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."It also is the type with the fewest legendaries. Even Poison type gets Eternatus.
It’s ironic bug types get the least love considering bug fighting was what inspired Pokémon.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I have no idea why, when they were considering underused offensive types to be good against the new Fairy type, they instead made Fairy resist Bug types. You had the perfect opportunity to give Bug this niche against what's currently one of the Top 5 and you blew it!
And it's not like we needed another type that resisted Bug. We already had plenty of those.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Bug isn't awful as a type tbh. It has decent resistances and okay coverage. It just has super slim pickings for good Pokémon because Game Freak largely pigeonholed it into a specific game design space until Gen 5.
Ice should resist Flying, frankly. That would go a long way to help it defensively.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Bug is oddly good when combined with Steel.
Where there's life, there's hope.
Those thirty-year-old games don't have official tournaments, and what's legal in them wouldn't be terribly different if they did. This isn't really the same as people outright ignoring the official scene
to play a version of the game that's 10x worse
