The land of Kaltseir once prospered under the rule of the old Verloren Empire, but it was destroyed by the acts of Necromancers. The world plunged into an deep winter for three hundred years. It was only the magic of the Erleuchtet, worshipers of the Sun-God, Glanzend, that saved the land by calling warm weather every year during which to grow crops. The people of Kaltseir began to rebuild their civilization over the ruins of Lost Verloren, guided by the teachings of the Erleuchtet.

The Erleuchtet Church is the center of Kaltseir religion, teaching reverence to the sun-god Glanzend. It is through their magic that Kaltseir gets warm weather for the short time that it does. The Erleuchtet are based out of the Dom Licht, one of the few surviving fortresses of old Verloren, at the base of the Sengt Mountain Range. The Fire Clans are considered blasphemous because of their magic, which they say is an attempt to mimic Glanzend's powers.

The Paladins are the militant arm of the Erleuchtet, tasked with keeping the land safe from rouge Necromancers. The have earned a reputation among the general populace as bullies, having essentially been given free reign of the land by the Sun Priests.

All magic is practiced through the drawing of glyphs and runes. Glyphs are drawn in the air by a mage with their left hand while directing the spell with their right hand. Runes are drawn onto surfaces to infise the object directly with magic.

Magic is divided into two categories: Elemental and Spirit

Elemental magic is practiced by the nomadic clans that appeared in the years following the collapse of old Verloren. Each set of clans practices a form of one of the classical elements Fire/Light, Air/Lighting, Water/Ice, and Earth/Wood. The fire clans are hated by the Erleuchtet for blasphemous attempts to steal the power of Glanzend.

Spirit magic involves the summoning of, speaking to, and manipulation of spirits and souls. Spirit Mages are revered across the land for their ability to commune with the dead, and have a high place in the hierarchy of the Erleuchtet. Necromancers are universally reviled for their summoning of the undead, the faulnis geweckt.

There are still some Spirit Mage clans that are not affiliated with the Erleuchtet and it is from these that most Necromancers come from. Darkness is often associated with these clans.

There are three type of undead in this world:

Faulnis geweckt These are best described as zombies - reanimated corpses. They are raised by Necromancers, who call them gestiegen, the risen. They are main weapon in a Necromancers army. Depending on the complexity of the glyphs used, they range from shambling, rotting masses, to near-human. They have no minds of their own and must be given direction by their master.

Revanants Dark spirits that haunt the land. Necromancers seldom call these things because they are unpredictable and frequently turn against their master, devouring their soul. The only place they linger, unaided, is the Great Library of Mondarl.

Versteckt Essentially, vampires. These were created by Necromancers who wanted more intelligent minions than gestiegen, and more loyal immortals than revanants. Unfortunately, the versteckt abandoned their charges and have dispersed across the land. They sometimes assist Necromancers, but spend most of their time evading the Paladins, as they are the ultimate blasphemy to Glanzend.


It's a High Fantasy World. A Necromancer has holed up in the seaside castle of Blau Festung and has set gestiegen on Kaltseir. The first set of Paladins set to kill him have not returned, so the Erleuchtet has issued a general call for warriors to journey to Blau Festung and kill the abomination. Swords and guns - Victorian era guns.

  • Name: Serral Rein
  • Age: 20
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Serral is on the short side and lacking in muscle. A member of a Water Clan, his movements are smooth, connected and fluid, but as his people are Ice Clanners, his features are sharp and angular. His hair is white and thick, reaching past his shoulders. Serral's eyes are icy-blue, but not cold and heartless.
  • Equipment: A belt of knives and his ice magic. He wears a deep purple cloak over his winter tunic and pants.
  • Personality: Generally a caring individual, though he strongly dislike the Paladins.
  • History: Serral grew up as the only child of an Ice Clan family, His clan had settled down generations ago, forsaking their nomadic ways in favor of the ruins of Keicher, an old Verloren city. The clan, later named the Keicher clan, restored the ruins to a functional entity. In recent years, a group of Paladins placed the city under "protective custody" and have pushed around the Keicher clan. Serral grew up resenting the Paladins and the god they represented.

  • Name: Magnus Nu'menir

  • Age: 22

  • Gender: Male

  • Appearance: moderate in height, athletically built. Black hair pulled back in a ponytail. Has one blue eye, his left eye covered by an eye patch. Wears a black long coat over gray and white clothes.

  • Equipment: A black, runed straight-sword and two pistols. A hidden knife in each sleeve.

  • Personality: A rather reserved individual, often times preferring his own company to others, though can be humorous and fun at times. Tends to keep his thoughts to himself, however.

  • History: Magnus was born into a small fire magic clan. At the age of twelve Magnus grew tired of life within his small and poor clan. He ran to a nearby city and sought to make a new life for himself. That life, however, did not come easily. found himself starving on the streets. He was taken in by a priest of the Church, who convinced him to return to his family. The priest brought back to where his family lived, only to discover a terrible tragedy. The Nu'menir clan had been mercilessly slaughtered by a mad spirit mage, who had killed family and raised them as his own servants. in a rage, Magnus fought the spirit mage, forced to cut down his own family in the process.

Magnus returned with the priest to the city, and became a member of the church, rising to the rank of Paladin at the age of eighteen. At the age of twenty, he inexplicably quit the order, and now spends his days traveling the land as an adventurer.

  3. Gender: Male
  4. Appearance: A tall, rather lean and muscular young man, Raize is blond and has green eyes. He wears the standard white and gold paladin outfit, and has a locket around his neck that belongs to his crush, Lady Armita. His eyes have been described as looking quite naive and expressive, but full of life.
  5. Equipment: Two daggers, a shield, and a longsword.
  6. Personality: Naive, but very caring, Raize is an enthusiastic, boyish type that fully believes the creed of the Paladin. He struggles with the expectations of him being a dutiful son to his noble father, Uther Stormscall. He seems to be a little too enthusiastic sometimes, and has shown signs of being willing to do anything to destroy the undead and the necromancer.
  7. History: A young Paladin and the son of an influential noble, young Raize went through life struggling to live up to the expectations of everyone around him. He always felt his father expected an unstoppable, righteous warrior, and thus became a Paladin. His family has Kingly blood, and thus, there is the chance he might become a King in his life time.
