Invoked tropes go on the main page. Wait, are you trying to inspire an Audience Reaction?
Fight smart, not fair.Yes, I probably should have said "inspire" and not invoke. For instance, seven separate characters were written with the intention of being seen as Magnificent Bastards (although I think only three of them were actually successful and the others all came across as just Smug Snakes).

I'd put it on the YMMV page, either under an "Intended by the Author" section or note that you intended it afterward.
Fight smart, not fair.Quick question, should this be a page now?
You can say They Plotted A Good Waste.
Rhymes with "Protracted."I haver a question concerning entry pimping. Lately, I've been seeing links to this troper work on various trope pages, apparently added by the author himself. Is that allowed? Can one entry pimp their own work? I'm just curious.

Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.Sure, as long as they're correct and in the correct place. The rule, is "You don't own the entries you make about your own work; they can and probably will be edited by others. If you can't accept that, don't do it."
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Ah, I understand now. Thank you.
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows.@ Ironeye and Madrugada: Thank you, you two - I appreciate your giving it a look, and your opinions on it.
Also, I'm not sure if somebody already asked this question in this thread, but is adding tropes marked as YMMV to the tab, but that are in your own work expected, or is it fine to leave them on the work's main page?
The author can't really say that an audience reaction was achieved, so it's strongly suggested that you let others add the Audience Reaction and Subjective tropes. Don't put them on the main page.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Alright, I want to add a page for my Kim Possible fanfic 'Deconstructive Legacy' and it's tie in, 'Number Two'. I'd like to have a page up for it, though I just want to check if it's kosher to do it for your own work. I'm aware of once I post it it's free for edits, but I'm just checking for verification. I want to put the fic under "Troper Works" as I do some troping and it requires a trope page for it.

Yes. It's all right.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Just make sure not to use the Troper Works namespace, since it's been phased out. Use FanFic instead.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.So, I have a short story that I wrote years ago, long before I heard of TV Tropes... but it just so happens it's a wacky treasure trove of tropes. I was wondering if there is a place to put the actual story, and allow people to try to list all the tropes as they see fit - a tropes game, from a story that was not designed as such. I know there's a way for me to evaluate my own story in the unpublished works area... but is there a way to make the work itself available for evaluation, comment, and deconstruction?
Maybe fictionpress, if their rules aren't too restrictive for you, or maybe deviantart, or AFF...
I think I've asked this before, but I don't recall getting an answer: what's the policy for Unpublished Works and privacy? The sixteen main protagonists in my comics are all named after (though not actually based on) people I know (or knew) in real life. I had no problems with this when I just wrote the comic for myself, but putting up an Unpublished Works page would be a little different (for instance, the guy that The Chew Toy is named after might not be too happy about it).
We make no promises about privacy. You put it up here, you're putting it up for anyone who wants to look at the page to see.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Or edit.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo, for things in the Unpublished Works section... it's alright for us to use those pages as brainstorming, right, since they are not a part of the wiki proper? I mean, I wrote mine out like a normal page (excluding subjective tropes), but I was also using it for an idea wall. Is that the intended purpose, or is that index have another use?
I am now known as Flyboy. You can always make a Sandbox article for your troper handle. That would work fine if you just want to play around with stuff.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If an Unpublished Works page for some reason doesn't have a "Reviews" section (mine does, for example), and I wanted to leave a Review of that person's work and/or accumulated data/material/what-have-you, how would I add that on their page?
Is it something any troper can do, or is it a Mod privilege? For clarity's sake, the page I'm referring to specifically is Homage.
Thanks!
Ah, one more thing! Is it considered okay to add links to Bonus Material that refers to your work onto the page? It's not as important to answer that one, though. Ignore it if you wish.
The page type has to be set to "a work" for the Reviews tab to show. But how are you going to review an Unpublished Work? It should only be in that section if it's not available anywhere for people to read freely.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Okay, got it. I could leave my thoughts in the 'Discussion' page instead. True, it should. I meant that I was going to review the page's content (as the author had expressed a desire for feedback of some kind on the Unpublished Works discussion page).
Speaking of which, if/when I finish my story-ish-thing and begin to post material for my current Unpublished on websites like Deviantart and Fanfiction.net, do I then move it to the Main/Fanfiction webspace?
EDIT: I see that my main concern has been addressed. Thank you!

Yep. When the work becomes publicly-viewable, it should be moved out of Unpublished Works and into Fan Fic
Coments on the page's content should go on the Discussion page.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
Two things I'm still not clear on - where would YMMV tropes invoked by the author(s) go? I know we're allowed to list them on Unpublished Works in that case, but do they belong on a YMMV page or on the main page? I tried to invoke quite a few YMMV tropes for my unpublished work, but as it's unpublished I don't know whether I succeeded, and writing my own YMMV entries seems wrong...
Which brings me to my second question: are authors allowed to post YMMV entries at all? I seriously doubt it, for obvious reasons, but it's worth checking, as some authors can be quite critical of their own work.
