Also, when I say G1 and Beast Wars, I don't just mean the show. For beast wars, that would include characters like Magmatron and Razorbeast, for example.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyMagmatron and Razorbeast. Yeah, Japan apparently contributed more to the series than a certain abomination.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyMy favs were Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and Animated.
(yes, I like beast machines)
What do ya mean I ain't kind? Just not your kind...I as well. Megatron's development seemed natural to me.
Well, for the G1 era they gave us Transformers Masterforce, Transformers Headmasters and Transformers Victory, and let's not forget that the whole Unicron Trilogy was originally made in Japan.

I know, I was just kidding.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyNah, the last few episodes of Armada were good, and Cybertron was okay all around, but the rest of the trilogy ranged from mediocre to So Bad Its Horrible.
I still want to strangle Kicker.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I love Galaxy Force's designs, but found the show itself to drag, and the fight scenes were boring. We have one of the coolest designs ever for Prime, and he gets pushed around by even the lowliest Decepticon mook. Then, when he receives a Power Fistupgrade, the balance of power shifts and it's one boring Curb-Stomp Battle after another.
I've got a soft spot for Masterforce, though. Mostly because you can almost see the inception of the Brave Series.
Right, here's my thoughts on every single screen incarnation:
- Generation 1: Hasn't aged well. It's still enjoyable, in a "Man, the 80s were silly" kind of way, but most of my enjoyment probably comes from nostalgia. I doubt any modern kid would find it at all watchable.
- Headmasters: Worst Transformers ever. Dull fights, personality-free characters, and just generally overall crap.
- Masterforce: A good Japanese series. Likeable characters, decent story, and actual Character Development.
- Victory: Got off to a good start, but sinks into dullsville because Deathsaurus fails as a villain. He tries to steal energy every single week, and always gets defeated. It would have been a stark improvement if he'd always managed to get away with a little energy, and thus gradually build sup enough to restore his fortress, rather than that ridiculous massive job at the end.
- Beast Wars: I was sceptical of this one, but it actually turned out to be really good. Full marks.
- Beast Wars II: No idea.
- Beast Wars Neo: No idea. Come on TFCog, hurry up with that bloody fandub!
- Beast Machines: The best Transformers cartoon yet made. Cool story, interesting concepts, and dramatic development of the characters which, contrary to what the detractors claim, is entirely consistent with their Beast Wars portrayals.
- Robots in Disguise: Has its moments, but dragged on far too long. Needed more baddies.
- Armada: Also had its moments, but stretched things out far too much. Also, it's odd that everyone is obsessed with getting all the Mini-Cons, but they barely use them.
- Energon: Got off to a good start, and the CGI often works pretty well, but was massacred by executive meddling. I heard a rumour somewhere that it was originally intended to be 26 episodes long, but Cartoon Network insisted on 52. This would explain a fair bit.
- Cybertron: Best of the Japanese series despite jarring CGI. Cool battles, a good story, humans that don't suck, and themes and issues beyond "Buy these cool toys".
- 2007 movie: Not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but nobody could have made a better live-action Transformers movie than this one.
- Revenge of the Fallen: Also not a good movie, though nowhere near as bad as people say.
- Animated: A good fun and silly romp, though got a bit too obsessed with injokes at times.
- Prime: shaping up nicely. I like how this version of Starscream is actually sneaky.
I'd say Beast Machines portrayals were more accurate than not (since there was more character growth in Beast Wars than people remember), but the ones that were OOC were glaring.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I think the real consensus among fans is that Beast Machines was an awesome series, just not an awesome Transformers series. TF has always been about the machines and the fanbase (especially on T Fwiki) has some sort of hypersensitivity to organics that makes Sentinel Prime's opinions in Animated look tame, so all the hybrid stuff triggers their gag reflex when they watch BM.

I just disliked it for the character derailment.
But I will admit that the characters who did get attention were given good characterization.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.That's a pretty wrong analysis of the wiki. It seems to love Beast Wars and the universe, but dislikes specific personalities (such as Nightscream) and derails (Beast Machines, Kiss Players).
The sad, REAL American dichotomyCaught me there. It's been a while since I last read the wiki properly.
I don't think mere derails are the only reason they hate Kiss Players...

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.I'd count the 1986 movie separately from the G1 TV series. I find G1 kind of hard to watch, but the movie is easily one of my favorites for it's superior action content and surprisingly good, if rather glitchy, animation.
How is animation glitchy?
You know what, better question. G1 Predacons vs Beastwars Predacons? Ready? GO!
Animation can easily be glitchy. Just look them up in the wikia.
Beast Wars. It's not even a question.
Beast wars had Megatron, Tarantulas, Inferno, Waspinator, Blackarachnia, etc.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyA thought on the greatest 3rd party threats in each series:
The thing that supposedly held Beast Wars back when compared to G1 and the Unicron Trilogy was that there was no Unicron. Beast Wars did at least have the Vok (makers of the Planet Buster, Metal Hunter, Floating Island, etc.) Is there a series that was just a straight up war between the two parties?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyTransformers Animated had no Unicron, Scopinok, Vok, or Quintessons.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
Not as the final boss, as one (of many) arcade modes.
For the story mode, you have to go with Unicron. Or The Fallen, someone who hasn't had a primax figure recently. This game would probably require a launch of a new toyline to that effect. Something like Universe.
I was thinking maybe a Vok transwarp brought them all together to combat a threat, though none really trust each other. At the end of it all, the only ones who remember anything are Grimlock or someone they wouldn't believe, Tarantulas (being probable unicron spawn, and all) and maybe G1 megs has the seed planted in his mind for his final Thanatos Gambit that started the beast wars.
This same transwarp might help the biggest issue in doing thiss: scale. Beast Wars explicitly states and shows that maximals and predacons were downsized from their guzzler ancestors.
I was thinking maybe something squad-based. Like a mix of Team Fortress 2 with Mad World.
But anyway, I haven't seen any of Animated, and I like Primax the best.
