Bowling for Soup released 1985 in 2004. If they released the song in 2023, it would be about 2004.

The Smashing Pumpkins wrote and released "1979" in 1995. If they did that today they would be writing a song about 2004....

I'm taking Semaglutide (Brand: Ozempic) injections once a week. Medicine has helped keep my blood sugar under control and helped me cut weight.

The vivid dreams (and other side effects) are something else...

I had some nightmares because of stress at work - I thought that was the problem. I'm a customer service rep who works at home 3-4 days a week so "work" is only a few steps away from my bed. I put it down to stress due to work - and that I should listen to my doctor and exercise more.

Then I fell asleep in my new office chair - I trashed my broken $299 "gamer" back/spine destroyer for a nice proper office chair (A Serta chair on sale at $199 - shoutout to r/Frugal )as I work at home (still game but I also like having a working spine).

I fell asleep watching Youtube videos - I dreamed that a burly man was holding me gently and whispering Star Trek and science facts in my ear. I had fallen asleep to a Youtube playlist of Sf Debris and Tom Scott videos.......

Those are some odd dreams. At least the meds are helping you.

Thanks Tuffle, Ozempic is an injectable, but it's "mosquito bite" needle vs. the insulin "THE LANNISTERS SEND THEIR REGARDS" needle that I needed to use every night.

I'll take once a week Ozempic and the funky dreams....

[up]Go H.P.Lovecraft/James Cameron and make a career out of it.grin Preferrably the latter, since Howard died in poverty, IIRC.

Dreams can produce some pretty crazy story material.

if you can remember enough of it

I find relying on dreams for story material is impossible because it usually boils down a sentence or more

oh and you forget dreams almost as soon you wake up so you need to have a pencil and paper on stand by

I don't have any negative remarks about the "gambling is bad" draft. It just unlocked a memory about the time I where proposed this Image Pickin' thread for Playboy. While I was proposing the thread (I am still disappointed that the crowner picked the cheezy 1980s cover over Marilyn Monroe), the news about the Resorts World Manila casino was playing in the background. That was 6 years ago, the same year where Marawi was sieged, Mosul was restored, Trump was in office, and Hugh Hefner died and hoo boy, I never realized it was long ago and yet so relatively recent at the same time.

Cross-posting from the parenting thread:

So, is "Dad strength" a thing? My son was born last October, due to different reasons I've switched to one-big-meal-per-day diet (with several smaller snacks around it), in more than 8 months, my (albeit rather small) gut was gone and I thought that I've lost 7-8 kgs or so (with first-child-related stress contributing to it).

Instead, after I've measured my weight a couple of weeks ago, turns out that I've gained 5 kgs instead, and my friend whom I haven't seen before I became a father told me that I've became way wider in my shoulders.

Then I've started calculating and turns out that the baby weighs close to 9 kg now, his stroller close to 15, I've been hauling groceries and been doing the rest of heavy lifting chores all by myself (since my wife gave birth via c-sec and is still recovering) and we've moved to a mountaneous place and most of the walking was done uphill/downhill (not to mention that I've started to walk even more - the baby needs fresh air, it's something close to 12K-15K steps per day now).

I've noticeably became stronger and I wasn't even rempotely athletic before.

Tl;dr: how much do you think lifestyle changes contribute to increasing upper-body strenght of men who recently became fathers?

Spiral out, keep going.

It is likely a factor. The more physical work you do daily the more it helps out. Whether you are lifting weights or a kid and stuff all day. Throw in a change of diet and you have the classic mix for a healthier lifestyle. Just changing jobs improved my overall health. I have lost weight and regained muscles because I haul, scrub, and lift things all day. Addin a change in my diet and I keep getting told I look like I am losing weight and I feel it. Just adding a daily walk has helped as well.

Well I am back, and man was Seattle a blast. Me and DS had a great time also hanging with our other player. We saw some cool stuff, ate some preem food (the other player knew some top tier places) and to top it off, me and DS got to meet Maximum Mike himself.
