It's up to you if you want to be a furry, people who enjoy sexual aspects should know that's ok and not everyone is in to that so they know when it's appropriate and consensual, I understand why you worry about people thinking it's just a "sex thing" but there are wholesome sfw parts of the fandom.

My Anime crush is LegosiAgain, huge fan of cartoon animals and foxes, but I'm not comfortable with calling myself one. I like the sfw art, though.

Never watched Naruto, but that face is definitely avatar-worthy.You can enjoy Star Trek without being a Trekkie. You can enjoy Lord of the Rings and not be a fantasy nerd. You can enjoy furry, anthropomorphic art/stories/movies/etc. without being a furry. You don't have to be pigeonholed into a specific term or subset of fandom just to like something.
Just found this thread so uhhh, hi. Been a furry since 2017, so a few years after I made this account (though I was a Pokefur in 2016)

I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERSBy the way, out of curiosity, do you guys prefer anthro characters with or without clothes?
For me, it depends. If they're cartoonish(Like the Sonic franchise), I prefer them without them. They're just humans with fur when fully-dressed. There's a reason why my Sonic-style Sylveon and Sprigatito(both female) are Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animals even though the Sonic series follows the Pantsless Males, Fully-Dressed Females trope and why none of my Pokemon OCs wear anything. That being said, if they're humanoid(Like the Starfox series, for example), I prefer to see them fully-clothed.

Never watched Naruto, but that face is definitely avatar-worthy.With Clothes.
It depends on the level of anthropomorphism. My characters are usually Barefoot Cartoon Animals.
She/they. Hirrus Clutumnus is my comfort characterI trend towards characters on the more relatively humanoid end of the scale, so they're typically fully dressed. Barefoot Cartoon Animals at most.
be nice to benjamin it's not his fault he got beat up by a microbeLike others are saying, it depends on the level of anthropomorphism for me. Toony simple characters are good with no clothes or minimal accessories, but those that are meant to be more humanlike, should have clothes.
My furry characters are kind of in between, so they pretty much wear clothes whenever I want them to, unless the character has a necessary clothing item they feel barren without.

"Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened."Most of my furry characters are humanoid and also follow the barefoot rule, but some of them are too chunky to fit into clothes, so they go without clothes period.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Holy shit there's a place for us here?
Anyways, when they're barely anthro I like them Acessory-Wearing, like the GOAT Mrs. Brisby;
When they're very anthro, I like them barefoot or half-clothed still. Aside from a few examples (Mr. Wolf and Diane, Amica Pterodattilo and Susie Deltarune) you put actual shoes on an anthro, you lost me.
If you're wondering what I personally do with my OCs...looks at them...I have no fucking idea.

I would have them in accessory clothing at most. I feel like full clothing would lead to overheating in warm temperatures. Kind of a weird place to apply this logic, I know.

Probably depends on your OC too. I seen furries use great details on how their characters physically function.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I often forget that Spongebob is technically an anthro animal.

I should've mentioned this earlier, but there's a TRS thread for Furry Comic and Furry Webcomic. I believe some input would be appreciated, since opinions are kind of split at the moment.

I'd like to apologize for all this.Per the above thread, UsefulNotes.Furry Fandom now lists works by furry authors.
I'd like to apologize for all this.Any other furs who tend to be drawn a lot to human media, and enjoy furry-anthropomorphised fan works based on it, just as much if not more than you are drawn to media that is animal based in the first place?
I tend to find that, while I do really enjoy anthro media, more of my favorite media tends to focus on human characters primarily, although some have anthros as supporting characters. And the idea of anthropomorphising them into animals is a huge appeal, due to being a furry, but it may seem a bit odd because the whole furry thing is about liking anthro media in the first place.
I guess it's maybe because a lot of anthro media is aimed at children, so as an adult, it's harder to form those deep connections that I do for other media. And I like a lot of children's media all well and good, I just don't usually have a desire to engage in communication about it, especially being an adult.
I really enjoy furry-fied content based on, for example, Metalocalypse, which has been my favorite show for a while, and it appeals to me on a level elevated and separate from art simply depicting the characters as the humans they actually are. Part of the appeal would be that the band have canonical "inner animals", so pretty much everyone agrees what to anthropomorphise them into, although every artist naturally draws them a little different.
It's something I've thought about before and it may be a reason I have trouble forming connections with other furs. There seems to be a difference between "what if animals were people" and "what if people were animals".

"Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened."I don't personally consider myself a furry, but I can safely say I'm affiliated with the Furry Fandom. About a 1 or maybe 2 on the scale.
B A G E L S (Don't ask) | Current playlistI'm also a 1 or a 2.
Never watched Naruto, but that face is definitely avatar-worthy.I'd say I am a solid 3. After all, I do write furry fantasy novels.
2.5 ig. i'd probably be a 3 if i lived anywhere close to furry cons and the like
be nice to benjamin it's not his fault he got beat up by a microbeI remember 4 used to be called "one of those furries", which I never liked, since it seems to treat alterhumanism as a negative extreme when worded like that. It's nice to see it has changed now.

"Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened."I have a fursona, have some appreciation to muscular and bara furries, do some furry art, just got into commissions, doesn't have a fursuit, not attending cons because my country doesn't have one, don't roleplay. I seem to be between 1 and 2.
Sometimes, I'm into human and orc bara and fashion too.

I'm kind of hesitant to use the label of "furry" to describe myself (even though I've done so in the past, including on this thread) due to bad experiences that I've had with some parts of the fandom.
A great Mascot Mook.
