There was another discussion about Waggle, but that was about renaming, which this thread will not be suggesting.

Instead, this thread is about proposing that the current name, since it's a term among gaming fandom, be redefined to just be about the term, and have no examples, to avoid Natter (since the term is often used as derogatory to the Wii, or even Nintendo in general, and is therefore Flame Bait on many Message Boards). As for the current definition and examples, I suggest they be moved to a page with a clear name, and all wicks fitting that trope be changed to that.

I am going to repeat my suggestion of Useless Shoeorned Feature for the new trope because I am right damnit.

Also there seems to be two type of stuff in the old example list: Botched controls (Lair, some Wii games) and things that are useless but innofensive (E-Reader, That Viva Pinata camera)

The two things this trope is about are:

Hardware "Gimmicks"

Interface "Gimmicks"

So something to do with either of those would work. Interface, Input, Hardware, Peripheral. . . something like that . . .

Impractical Interface?

Impractical Input?

Impractical Input Interface?

Agreed. This is much broader than what I've seen Waggle used for, so I'd support moving this to something that describes what it's actually about and making Waggle a Fan Speak page. Useless Shoehorned Feature works, IMO.

Agreed. Move the current contents to Useless Shoehorned Feature and make Waggle a fan-speak page.

Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.

How is Waggle a fandom term? It's a hatedom term, used specifically by those who hate this form of motion control.

^ I know, but Eddie says it stays as a page. I just want it to be clear that it is just a term, not a trope.

So what now? Waggle is purged and locked, but your proposed page doesn't exist.

^^^ Putting something into a game because it's trendy or to take advantage of some new feature is a trope. It can be done intentionally.

"So what now? Waggle is purged and locked, but your proposed page doesn't exist."

We just make one from the history of course.

"Putting something into a game because it's trendy or to take advantage of some new feature is a trope. It can be done intentionally."

That actually is even better than what I had in mind.

And how do you know Fast Eddie won't lock that?

Also, would Gratuitous Gameplay Feature be more neutral?
