Why does she all of the sudden care about her job? It could be argued that outside of her own suicidally reckless and childish opposition to authority she's now concerned for Lady Time, but that doesn't really pass mustard.

I think this is a ham handed "allegory" against the medical application of stem cells.

1. Tat rants against in vitro fertilization, or IVF, (a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child). This requires the creation of a number of bioclasts, not all of which get used.They are where stem cells are harvested. Some think these incredibly tiny cell clusters are "children".

2. The infamous "blood libel" strip that claimed children were somehow being "consumed" for others youth and beauty.

Tat seems to have a conspiracy theory sort of "Christian Science" view of medicine, that any physical modification of a human is the road to Transhumanism or is somehow against God's will or something.

With my triple bypass, 6 stents and artificial heart valve that allows me to continue, at least temporarily, to share this physical plane with you good folks, I might beg to differ.

Anyway, I feel the youth pills are some sort of rant about embryonic stem cell research, or such, or worse, that actual living children are being used somehow to allow the "elites" immortality.

This is why Tat has abandoned the usual father/mother time trope, and made it about a desire to cling to youth by the exploitation of children. It's based on some hare brained Qanut conspiracy he's become enamored by.

Is he serious, as in genuinely believing the message? Possibly not, because Tatsuya has never struck me as a true believer in anything. It seems likely that he is merely parroting something he misunderstood, in order to pander to a base (or a specific person) tangentially connected to what he really cares about. So it's the same as when he peddled second-generation radical feminism for a decade.
