-shrug-
If you haven't red it through, it's a pretty stupid idea to be reading the posts in a thread by people who have.
How would Syl do it, though?
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Cygan: See my last post. Also, post 17, the one that very clearly spells out the major spoiler I was talking about, is still untagged
And given the "talk him down" bit, I imagine that Syl would yell angrily at Szeth, and he would be dumbstruck to find an honorspren there, giving Kal or someone else ample opportunity to gain the upper hand
And if you're reading the posts, you don't really have any right to complain about spoilers. It's perfectly possible to jump to the 'add post' button without actually reading through the posts on the page.
Especially when the majority of the users have spoilers set to visible by default anyway.
Would Szeth really care if Syl yelled at him, though?
There are too many toasters in my chimney! And if you're driving down the road and someone crashes into you, it's your fault because you were using the road, the place where cars are generally found, and most people should have the good sense to change lanes.
Seriously, stop it with that "they should KNOW better than to read threads that may interest them!" shit. Spoiler tags exist for a reason, just tossing out untagged spoilers without warning is a huge dickmove.
And we don't know. Szeth could be momentarily taken aback, or he could be distraught, or he just not give a damn
Meh. Couldn't really care less, TBH.
From what we've seen of him, I don't think he'll really care- but I could be wrong, we haven't seen much of him.
There are too many toasters in my chimney! This isn't like an accident being your fault because you were driving down the road; it's like an accident being your fault because you decided to drive your car into the middle of a demolition derby.
If this thread were about literature in general, or even just the works of Brandon Sanderson, spoiler tags for big twists would be called for. However, this thread is quite clearly about The Stormlight Archive; since people come here specifically to discuss that series, then, I'm sorry, but your desire not to read spoilers is outweighed by the majority's desire to discuss the series without the annoyance of spoiler tags.
Now, if The Way of Kings had come out in the last month or two, maybe you'd have a case.

^ Pretty much how I feel.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!I read the online chapters in spring, and orderd the Way of Kings a while back on Amazon. Now waiting for it to arrive.
Laws are made to be broken. You're next, thermodynamics.Alright! We'll see you a month after it arrives then. That's the average reading time
There are too many toasters in my chimney! If the spoilers hadn't been on the first fucking page of the thread I wouldn't have a case, but instead they're sitting right there where anyone who happens to click the thread's name will see it.
And yes, people do come here to discuss it, like asking if they should read it or saying something like "I'm getting it soon" or whatnot. People could skim the first few pages of the thread to pick up the general opinion (I know I do this), so having spoilers right there on the first page is very unfair to those people.
Just because you apparently can't comprehend talking about something you haven't yet finished, doesn't mean people don't do it.

They are more than halfway down the page.
Beneath these lovely little quotes:
And literally right below this one:
And if he was still reading the thread at that point, that's his fault.
All I can say is tough luck, dude. I'm not spoilering my posts out because somebody might come in here, have spoilers set to visible by default and want to discuss it.
Edi: Not not.

There are too many toasters in my chimney! Then what the fuck do you think the point of spoiler tags is then? May as well go get rid of all the tags on the wiki page because if someone reads that without having the read the book, it's their own fault.
There is nothing about this thread that indicates that the spoilers are untagged. Put a note on the title— "Brandon Sanderson's The Stormlight Archive (Untagged Spoilers)" or have it in big bold letters on the first post. Don't just assume that people will somehow magically know that there are untagged spoilers. That's stupid, rude, and dickish.
Apart from the posts saying "Is this the place to discuss plot points?" "Yeah, go ahead." you mean.
Call it stupid, rude or dickish all you want. That's the way it is.
Spoiler warning added before the first spoilers, I guess. Not that I really care, but eh, there you go.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!THANK YOU
Jesus fuck, was that really so difficult?
Well, it was fucking annoying to have to put up on a thread for discussion on a work, yes.
There are too many toasters in my chimney!Lizard Bite, untagged spoilers for a story in a thread about that story are the norm; they're expected to be there. Spoiler tags are for places where spoilers for a particular work are not an expected and integral part of that thread's/page's existence: like on a trope page, or on a page/thread discussing a different work.
Yes, a lot of people browse threads for a work before actually reading/watching it themselves, but they're usually people who just don't mind reading spoilers. I just hope you never try visiting the anime/manga sub-forum: they have that spoilers get untagged five posts after the chapter/episode being spoiled becomes available (legally or otherwise) in English.
Ok people, I added a warning on the first post, so stop talking about spoiler policies and let's get back to talking about the series, shall we?
Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!Well, we know the only thing binding Szeth to service is his own sense of honor (which may also be why his surgebinding is so powerful), so if an honorspren tells him he can stop, he might. After all, he knows what he's being ordered to do is wrong.
I'd be interested to know if the visions Elkohar is seeing are of the "symbol-head" spren described by Shallan.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - Bocaj"It was by no means easy. The Parshendi fought like chasmfiends."
There are too many toasters in my chimney!
^Wouldn't that make them more giant crabs/lobsters than giant spiders? "Giant arthropods of some variety" just doesn't have a good ring about it.
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajI dunno. What do the Parshendi look like?
There are too many toasters in my chimney!
Dude, calm down. I already tagged it, and everyone else is using spoiler tags. We got the message.
And on the WMG note, anyone else think Syl will be the one to stop Szeth? After all, surgebinders apparently get their power from honorspren, so if anyone can talk him down, its her.
