Ooh, I like Venture Bros.!
So, er, what shall we talk about? What happened in Season 3? Predictions for Season 4? Actually, I have a question, which, fair warning contains Season 3 spoilers: In The Invisible Hand of Fate, we learn that the Guild used to be a secret organization, that was able to hide the fact of its existence by controlling the leader of OSI. But, in the present the Guild operates out in the open, and it's even possible to apply to be arched. Anyone have any theories about the change? Think it'll ever be addressed in the show?
(Incidentally, any weirdness about this post should be excused by the fact that I am extremely tired, and not thinking particularity clearly.)

See, I don't know about that. In the episode...hold on...in The Lepidopterists (S 3 E 10), Doe and Cardholder talk about how even now OSI doesn't officially recognize the existence of the Guild. What's to say that wasn't operating procedure the whole time?
Personally, in Season 4, I hope they make the ORB thing into a real Myth Arc. I'm still not sure if it qualifies as one yet given all the references to the first Dr. Venture's death.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.Well, there's definitely some change. In Invisible Hand, Brock and Hunter are the only people who seem to even think the Guild exists, and they're having trouble finding a Guild member to tail. They think Professor Fantamos might be a member, though this was pre-botched-experiment-that-turned-him-evil-and-gave-him-powers, so odds are he hadn't joined the Guild yet. And, at the end of the episode, the guy who chews out Brock puts on a Guild ring and does his "look at me I have an evil ring" pose.
Constrast the present, where supervillians are plentiful and even have their own neighborhood. And while the OSI might not officially recognize the Guild, they do help Jonas Jr. with the Monarch, and so are more aware of the Guild's existence than they were in the past.
Which means the Guild has, at the very least, become less secretive than it was in the past.
Oh yes, and the ORB. I really, really want to know what the ORB does. I also want to know if Kano really was the one who killed Jonas Sr.

Yeah, they should never reveal what ORB does. Inevitable Hype Backlash on that.
Actually, they should only reveal what ORB does if it happens to be hilariously disappointing.
You have a point on the Guild coming out. I recall the flashback to the original guild (the one with Colonel Venture and Aleister Crowley being thrown out of a zeppelin) being Serious Business. I wonder if the shift is part of everyone not taking their roles as seriously as they used to?
Wild Mass Guessing: the zeppelin the Proto-Guild were traveling on was being attacked by the forces of Nikola Tesla. David Bowie played Tesla in The Prestige. Was David Bowie playing both sides?
Now here's a good question: where did the (O)rders (R)egarding (B)odyguard come from?

I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.Maybe the ORB, rather than bringing about world peace or wiping out all life, turns out to be one of those music boxes that opens up and shows a ballerina spinning around.
The Orders Regarding Bodyguard. Well, it looks like they come from OSI, because Kano was aware of them, and may have carried them out. What doesn't come from OSI is the idea that the bodyguard has to be killed as well. That was an incredibly elaborate scheme on the part of Hunter and Molotov. Really, amazingly elaborate, when you think about it. Rusty would never have started looking for the ORB on his own, so Billy just happens to find the riddle using a combination of a TV show from the 70s and the Internet. And we still don't know who put the riddle there in the first place. Then The Alchemist happened to be an expert in Victorian history. Seriously, how the hell could Hunter and Molotov really expect all of that to happen? Wild Mass Guessing: They couldn't. They are clearly being fed information and manipulated by someone else. Most likely Jonas Sr. who faked his own death after he realized he would be killed for using the ORB, and is instead trying to get Rusty to activate the ORB for him.
Also, I hope Season 4 is when we finally find out what Rusty did to the Monarch in college. Also also, I bet Season 4 is when Jonas Jr. finally cracks. It looked like it would happen in Now Museum, Now You Don't, and it has to happen eventually. You can't live in the Ventureverse and be happy and successful
So, I heard a rumor that Season 4 of the Venture Brothers might not happen, because Patrick Warburton has said he doesn't want to do the show anymore. Has anyone else heard anything like this?
I finished watching the existing episodes of this a couple days ago. Charmingly twisted little show.
Regarding Jonas Jr., I think he's already snapped. Whenever we see him in Season 3 he's being an utter dick — not just affable sibling-rivalry gloating like we've seen before, but actively acting malicious. Arguably this is more about the writers figuring out how to fit him into the show's theme, though, now that using him to play up Rusty's lack of motivation and charisma has largely run out of steam.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.^^ I've heard nothing about that, but it would certainly be a shame. 4th season's supposed to start this November.
With Jonas Jr., though, it's more a lifting of the veil. He's gone from the cheery "What's mine is yours!" vibe to realizing just how much of a fuck-up his brother is. They keep making references to Rusty borrowing from him.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.Well, I was talking to some people, and a guy brought it up. I had never heard anything about season 4 being canceled either, so I was wondering if it was an actual rumor other people had heard, or just some guy.
As as for Jonas Jr., he's certainly gotten more smug and passive-aggressive, but he hasn't really failed at anything yet. (Well, he failed to kill the Monarch, but we never saw his reaction to that.) Right now, he seems to exist mainly to show how much of a failure Rusty is.
I haven't seen any episodes of Venture Bros. yet, but I heard it was really good. Especially considering that it's an Adult's Swim show, which generally runs crap save for Robot Chicken.
I've decided to start posting more often. Sorry.JJ failed to host a successful opening to his museum, but that was mostly the fault of Rusty if I recall.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.I think the botched museum opening was mostly the natural result of filling a room with people who don't like each other much, until everyone just hit a breaking point. And it worked out all right in the end, more or less. It is the closest J.J. has come to snapping, though, and I think it showed that he definitely has the potential to snap, if he's put under enough pressure.
I just watched the Season 4 preview (you can see it here. The video starts automatically.) That may be the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. Or heard. Has anyone mentioned the great music The Venture Brothers has? Because The Venture Brothers has great music.
Wow...21...just, wow.
Exactly. In the commentary for Season 3, they mentioned that they had pretty much forgotten that the Venture Brothers could have crazy adventures rather than just sitting around the compound, and that they planned to fix that in the next season. And it looks like that has indeed come to pass.
I don't think all of the ORB stuff was part of their plan, actually. Brock told Hunter about the weirdness regarding his car; my assumption was that Hunter and Molotov just took advantage of Brock thinking that OSI was after him.
There is a mystery, though, about who put those clues on the DV Ds and who created the website.
But the car was set to try and kill Brock when he mentioned the Orders Regarding Bodyguard, right? And since OSI couldn't have done that (since the whole thing about OSI wanting to kill Brock was a lie), then Hunter or Molotov must have rigged the car that way. Either one of them could have done it. But that means the plan relied on Brock mentioning the ORB at some point, which brings us back to the Xanatos Roulette problem: They had no way of knowing that Rusty would ever find out about the ORB.
Damn, Adult Swim was axed from Cartoon Network Latin America with season 2, so no Venture Bros. for me
When is season 4? I'm feeling stupid.
Sex, Drugs, and RationalityNext month or October.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon. And that's just part 1. Season 4 has been split into two parts, to take some of the pressure off Jackson and Doc. So, I think 16 episodes this season, 8 in a month or so, and 8 6 months or so from now.
Knowing how Adult Swim schedules, we probably won't know exactly when it will start until soon before the airdate.
Never mind, looks like October 18. If it doesn't get shuffled.

Lol Nazis.
Also, Anachronic Order. SOOOOOO MUCH.
And ewwwww, Fat Brock.
The ending was totally a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.

Ehh, I disagree a bit on the ending. Brock Samson as SPHINX agent? Although my favorite line had to be either the Hitler conversation at the end or Orpheus's "Bad news, Dean: your dog is the spawn of Hell. You must KILL him."
ed: Apparently I'd set my phone to warn me of this episode starting fifteen minutes beforehand. I completely forgot I did that, but now I'm thankful for it. Go past me!

I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.
Come on, let's see some love for The Venture Brothers.
By the way, Kevin Conroy (the voice of Batman) is supposed to guest star in the upcoming 4th season. Video with spoilers.
