They're not really in the same category. Brain Dead is a fantastic gross-out zombie flick, and each of the Evil Dead movies is quite different in tone (with the Horror Comedy Evil Dead 2 being the closest to Brain Dead).
If I had to choose, it would be Evil Dead 2, no questions asked, though Brain Dead gets special props for the line, "I KICK ASS FOR THE LORD!"

Army of Darkness is my fave of the trilogy, but I'll vote for it solely because it doesn't have the annoying pacing problems of Braindead.

Whoa, I just have to chip in and give brain dead it's deserved vote. I do love the Evil Dead of course, but Brain Dead is just perfect. The freudian slip, the giant monster finale, the baby, the monkey-raping rats, "Shan-gaia!", "I kick arse for the Lord!", "Well, not all of it.", the lawnmower climax, the love plot...

Ehh, Evil Dead 2 alone is more enjoyable than Brain Dead.
