We have a thread about improper TRS cleanup here.
But anyway, it's actual policy that we should delete examples if we don't know where they'd be moved to. Hiding them doesn't help in any way since the wicks remain on the related pages and we're looking to get rid of misuse as much as possible.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCommenting is for zce. If something doesn't fit, it gets deleted. People in cleanup could pay more attention, but as you've said it's not their responsibility to research deeper.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAt best, you could move the entry in question to the discussion page.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah yeah... the more I think about it, there really isn't an easy and good solution. It has helped, just minorly venting about it. It's one of those pain points, going to your watch list and just seeing deletion after deletion with the only comment being "Dewicked trope". Bit like that stereotype of the neighborhood inspector who knocks your fence down and leaves a notice that it doesn't meet the standards of the the HOA charter without explaining why.
I'm sure this has come up before, but I haven't found it yet after going through the last few pages. When a TRS goes through to disambiguate a trope, it seems like a fairly common result is that someone goes through and deletes all of the old trope entries, whether or not they have sufficient context to match one of the disambiguations. It's a mild pain, particularly on Character pages, where there will often be a dozen lines deleted that have to get pasted back in. And... I don't know if there's an easy solution, since I don't expect the people in the TRS to research each instance, but maybe tending more towards commenting them out than deleting? Which, yeah, could just result in deletion, or people assuming the trope still exists and it gets uncommented...
Eh, I just wanted to raise the topic, see if anyone has any better suggestions.
