Do the links still not work? I'm more baffled that was linking to a general search, but the link opens correctly if copied and pasted. Like, I'm not seeing why there's a need to specifically do anything about them beyond the general issue of linking somewhere with NSFW content on the same site.
Avatar SourceTried that. Didn't work.
Fair enough.
I'm lovin' it. (My Troper Wall)Link worked perfectly fine for me if copied and pasted. Is it a browser thing?
Avatar SourceI just took a look at the page and, frankly, it's a mess in general. I don't understand why this has an example section to begin with, since Pixiv is a platform, not a tropeable work, but I especially don't understand how the use of a tag is supposed to qualify as an example. Besides, Web Links Are Not Examples.
I'm inclined to nuke the example section and move the page to Platforms.
I agree. Most of the entries are zero-context examples that rely on weblinks to provide context... except even if you look up the links, it's just links to a search page with a specific tag a lot of the time.
Yeah, I'm with Chase on this one.
I use Google Chrome, if that helps.
I'm lovin' it. (My Troper Wall)Yeah, the page is completely bizarre. I was just thinking there's no reason to get rid of the links if they're anywhere they are valid, since they don't seem to be broken as a whole—presumably link-to-actual-image would be lesser error fraught than how Japanese text gets converted to something we can put into UR Ls.
Mmm, firefox here. Also worked on firefox mobile. And chrome, now I've opened it. I don't know why it isn't working, but it redirects to the appropriate search page for me without any issues.
Avatar SourceThe article itself says that tagging is a crapshoot because of abbreviation, mixing Japanese and English, and even different Japanese characters. So none of these tags are official in any way, even if they actually worked.
It'd be like having examples for Google saying you can find funny cat videos by searching the phrase "funny cat videos".
One more in favor of cutting the list of tropes on the Pixiv page, due to not being a tropable work mixed with Weblinks Are Not Examples.
What do you two think about this ~War Jay 77 and ~Amonimus?
I'm lovin' it. (My Troper Wall)Uh, why us? I guess I say move to Platform/, though IDK why you felt the need to ask for my opinion in particular.
Also the ping failed.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSame, not sure why ask me, though I did already follow this thread.
Pixiv moving to Platform was already on the table.
We don't trope communities or platforms, so the list of tags can go away.
As an extra rant, links like
Violate Web Links Are Not Examples either way. It's not like we can't link to Pixiv, but that examples like these are both ZCE AND general.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupYeah, why do we just provide direct links to website tags anyway? We don't do that for things like DeviantArt. I wouldn't mind just scrubbing these if they're corrupted anyway (which I believe has to do with the fact the UR Ls had Japanese characters in them but got futzed up)
Thanks for playing King's Quest V!Not corrupted; that's just how they're encoded. I don't know why some people might be having trouble with using them and others don't, though.
Avatar SourceYeah I definitely think the tropes list should be removed.
URLs not working seems to be an encoding issue? Maybe it got borked when everything was changed to the new encoding standard on the wiki (UTC-8 or whatever)

Avatar: Amethio (Pokemon Horizons)Hm, that's interesting, now I look at it. The links as rendered don't work, but the links from the edit page do. I wonder if it's triggering some sort of wiki syntax?
Avatar SourceI genuinely have no clue, but that's my best guess. Japanese tends to be very finicky with encoding-related stuff, which is why it gets turned into random numbers/letters a lot.
Avatar: Amethio (Pokemon Horizons)Anyway, any objections to nuking the example section and moving it to Platforms?
Also, I think we're allowed to replace it with an index of works hosted there. Offhand:
No objections here.
I can put together a list of works published on Pixiv and in its digital magazines. There are a lot, so it'll take me a while to do, but I know where to find the lists.
EDIT: Threw together a very rough Pixiv Works page. I haven't done a deep-dive, but these are all the titles from magazines listed on Anime-Planet that have "Pixiv" in the name. They don't tag things like Sakura-chan to Amane-kun as being anything, since Pixiv as a site is a bit too broad, but I've noted it in another folder. (Note: AP doesn't do hentai, so these should mostly be okay to have listed TV Tropes policy-wise.)
It's a start. And I feel like we'll have some of these titles, just under a different name or namespace.

In October 2021, ~CWC made a post on Pixiv's discussion page talking about how none of the links on the page work anymore due to a bug. Nothing even remotely came of it, so I'm making this thread so we can discuss what to do with the links. Normally I'd just replace them outright, but some of the links in question are for rather NSFW topics such as Gorn, Off with His Head!, Self-Fanservice, Yaoi, and Phallic Weapon, just to name a few.
