Customary wisdom when it comes to January horror movies is that they will suck but then again, Scream 5 and M3GAN bucked that trend recently.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.I am too much of a wimp to watch that movie but if something happens to the kitty…
Agreed. Respect. Protect the pets.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. Why do bad things almost always happen to cats in horror movies???
Looks creative. I'll give it that.
Ignoring the prologue, the cat was unfortunately the first to go. An interesting premise let down by a very clumsy conclusion. The father's performance had the potential to be compelling, especially during his brief stint as an antagonist, but the film never did quite enough with it; his scenes afterwards were extremely wooden and severely undermind what would've been a thematically and narratively coherent ending. The investigation sequence at the start of the third act was intriguing, but simultaneously too short and too thorough—almost all of the answers to the questions a viewer might've had by that point came from a single interaction.
The use of zombified monsters was also incredibly strange and out of place, considering the true nature of the antagonist. I suppose that a bloating, rotted corpse leering at you from the pool filter is unsettling, but it really cheapens the more mystical, ambiguous aspect of the horror.
I'm hearing this movie was too basic. Also hearing that Blumhouse was slumming it too. If I ever see it someday, maybe I'll like it though.
Who knows?
First time in long time I watched movie without knowing anything about it, do have to say that its probably good to see movies like this without bias since I ended up walking away from it more positively than most people it seems?(I kinda thought characters were acting more rational than they do in most horror movies) Though I'm kinda wuss when it comes to horror movies anyway, but I learned that I seem to have heightened fear reaction to people sticking their hands into things
Pitch Meeting did a pretty savage one this time around.
Yeah, even more plot holes than normal.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say this, but I made a work page for Night Swim. Maybe some contribution would be nice.
Also, I just noticed that recent edits seemed to be biased, as if whoever wrote them were furious at the film's logic.

"You gotta get better, you're all that I've got / Don't take forever, you're not here for long" - AJR, "2085"Care to cite those? The most recent edits do seem more upset that the pool killed the cat than anything related to plotholes.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. The thing about Horror films where supernatural beings are the cause of the problems is that they're often hit-and-miss. If Night Swim's another one of those unconquerable demonic force-type movies, it's not gonna be fun to watch.
New trailer for a Blumhouse/James Wan movie called Night Swim. It’s about a family whose new house has a pool with a supernatural presence:
Supposed to be out January 5. Bryce McGuire directs.
