So does this game let you pair mc with every playable character in game like recent FE games?
Can people chill with the endgame spoilers even with the spoiler text this game came out today and my copy hasn't arrived yet.
Yeah guys you dont have just post spoilers in the thread for no goddamn reason.
Anyway, while Alain isn't the most entertaining of protagonists, he's not Serenoa bad. He's capable of cracking an occasional joke or have, ya know, a single thought.
? Just to check since I'm not sure if that was at me or not, mine was legit non spoiler tag related question on whether this has FE matchmaking elements
Nah, mostly about Magnum.
Saying "Oh there's a something special about X!" kind of ruins the experience even if you don't say what it is.
Like, again. The game came out today.
Anyways my copy did arrive and I'm currently tearing into it. Haven't quite left the areas I had available during the demo yet, but working my way to Elfenhovel or whatever those knife-ears call their home.
So slight complain: Who enjoys what gifts is a crapshoot?
So many of the gifts revolve around interests that either don't come up in conversations, or only come up when they already have a rapport built.
Rapports with them aren't guaranteed three full conversations, it seems. A shame considering I like to see the writing figure out what to do with certain pairings.
I had fun with the Lex/Sharon one.
Yeah you can look at the rapport list to see who talks with who. Some characters don't have ANY conversations but can still get the numbers bonuses.
Honestly I really like that, FE should do the same. Way too many empty conversations since Awakening, and I liked Awakening.
Chill dude. I intentionally made it crpytic as all hell so if you don’t know about a specific character from another game, you get a nothing burger out of it. Even if you do, it is up to you to solve WHY. Figuring out why requireing a moderately deep lore dive…..into something with 40 years of complex lore.
In short, there is a mystery you must solve by playing the game….and you’re going to love what you find.

What Watashiwa said. You can see on the rapport screen who has conversations with who. So at least you don't waste time trying to pair people who dont have any.
Also, Shamans are fucking annoying. They just make fights longer lol. They arent even dangerous, just tedious.

Do named story characters in this game differ from hired mercs, gameplay-wise?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.Some have unique classes. There might be differences in stats im not gonna go through the trouble to check. Some start with specific or unique gear or accessories.
But otherwise no, a Merc and a Hero of the same class are functionally the same.
Mercs are arguably better thanks to them letting you adjust their growth rates for an Elite Tweak but the game's throwing so many units at me I'm not going to bother beyond the Gryphon Rider, Fighter and Shaman I already got.
Considering every mission is timed, them running down the clock on you is very dangerous.
I'm considering building a team that can get past them... But they seem to get right past Miriam's Magic anti-debuff Barrier? Are they supposed to be able to do that?
Also can I say Witch's Teleport is VERY HANDY if you happen to realize you left you base camp wide open and some dude's almost there.

So far the best solution i found is to use battlefield leader commands to damage them out of combat. They are fragile and go down fairly easily to those. In battle though, I haven't found anything great to hard counter them. They nerf magic and physical attacks on a reaction, they are also fairly fast all things considered.
Parties with 2 Shamans in them are absolute hell.
Or to pick up and out of the way item then return to the front lines.

Does that count as Mundane Utility?
Thought I was being clever when I sent a team a long way around a forest to take out a watchtower that would be a problem later. I forget forests can hide enemies.
Anyone found a way to check who is stationed as guard to what town? Coz trying to find them again after to give gifts in a pain the ass.
... Only when I go to place a new guard at a new town.
No way I'm remembering all those names though nobody even says any town names out loud.
Found it. world map, sort facility, shows you who is where.
Goddamn. Found the online arena and it's already flooded with overpowered teams.
No surprise there.
Avoided it myself since i havent finished and dont want to be spoiled on later story characters.

Bernice was my first promote because of course she was.
One thing i find weird, you can't pick the gender of your mercenaries, even for classes where there are generic models for both genders?
In fact it seems some gender/class pairing while existing as enemies don't seem to be possible to hire at all. I've seen generic female Sellswords like Bernice, but all the Sellswords for hire are male.

Speaking of the female Sellswords, it's a little weird that the muscular mercenary women with giant swords are always standing pigeon-toed.
♭What. You can just grab them at other forts. They're basically considered a different "Class" so they'll show up distinct from one another.
Just promote them.

I can confirm you can give the Maiden Ring to male characters alongside the girls. In other words Alain, who the game calls The Unicorn “Fated to commune with a Maiden most true and fair”(male).
Also prepare to fight Scarlett if you don’t rescue her it looks like.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
