Wow, no Tropes page for Deadloch yet? I just finished it and it's fantastic! Funny Broadchurch! They really expertly juggle the serious and funny parts.
Binge confirms second season of ‘Colin From Accounts’
Given the first season ended on a fairly stable note, what kind of dramas are they going to bring in to keep this fresh?
Farscape is definitely a great one. I think that might be Australia’s most popular show.
Just coming in here to plug The Newsreader, like I do everywhere on these forums. It's honestly the best queer drama I've ever watched. Also I've been meaning to watch Deadloch, I've heard great things about it.
Stand up against pinkwashing, don't fall for propogandaHas anyone checked out Day Job on ABC TV + Iview? I just watched the first two episodes and I'm already charmed. It's like a perfect blend of Pizza, The Office and Smiling Friends.

Fat Pizza Comedian Paul Fenech Slams Rebel Wilson After She Blasted The Show In Her Memoir
“Rebel was happy building a career playing the big girl in Hollywood, now she’s saying we did her wrong? We gave her a start, took her around the world, gave her stage training and TV and feature film opportunities. How ungrateful,” the Housos star told Daily Mail Australia.
“We always looked after her and gave her the creative freedom she needed. But look at the end of the day No thank you. No gratitude, [and calling us] fatphobic?
“Rebel made her Hollywood career playing the big girl. Now suddenly Fat Pizza treated her badly? It’s hurtful and disgusting to me to hear this.”
Alongside his statement to Daily Mail Australia, Fenech also shared an Instagram post slamming his fellow comedian, claiming Wilson is “known to be a stooge in the industry”.
“She pretends she’s some victim but we gave her the start of her career, to see such an ungrateful person who has had a stellar career on the back of Fat Pizza it’s sad,” Fenech wrote.
A quick scroll through Paul Fenech's Instagram feed shows a steady stream of complaints about how everyone's too easily offended, free speech is under attack etc. With the most recent post being that he was offended by Rebel Wilson's free speech.
That makes me wonder if that thinking pattern was a contributing factor in his self-isolation on SAS Australia (I know there are many, many other things which played a factor and some of those were discussed).
Talking on the Australian TV show front in general, why do I feel like the 90s and early 2000s were the peak of Australian kids live-action shows? Or is it just my nostalgia?
90s television in general was in a bit of a heyday. Certain taboos from previous decades were a thing of the past and attitudes towards different races, genders and sexual orientations were casually accepting (despite several instances where they show their age).
It also helps that movies in the 90s were going through an awkward stage with only a few gems here and there, so television was just the go-to for quality entertainment.
A thread where we can talk about any random Australian television show. To start, I'll roll off a handful of shows that premiered in 2022 and 2023:
