Welcome to Super Hero Taisen: Conspiracy, a RP done in the vein of Super Robot Wars as a homage, but inspired by shows/other official media based on Kamen Rider, Metal Hero, Super Sentai/Power Ranger and other toku stuff similar to the first three.

The basic rules for joining the RP include not godmodding, not posting something that may lead to a feud in discussing and not posting the GM/others may want to read unless you discuss it.

I hope this'll be well received more than the other attempt I did years ago.

It's 20XX. Many years have passed since various evils have threatened the fate of the Earth.

From terrorist groups, aliens, demons to shady private corporations and government units, evil has no limits.

To combat these groups and the growing use of bio/alien/futuristic technology and magic, the United Nations established a black ops anti-bio/alien/magic unit known as the Terrestrial Counter-Alien, Demon and Magic Response (TCADMR) in the early 1990s as a response to the early appearance of demons and bio-tech enhanced creatures during the Cold War.

While it was meant to unite all known groups and units that have fought aliens and monsters, most have resisted being under its command with a few choosing to do so as long as they can retain their autonomy in daily operations; some of these groups have overt and covert links with extraterrestrial parent units. Some others struck on their own, refusing to let bureaucracy get in the way when there's a chance of new bad guys coming out of the woodwork.

More time passed. It seemed uncertain if new threats are emerging from the dark. But they are here to stay.

It was not long before a string of attacks worldwide were brought to the attention of various superhero individuals and teams with a threatening note brought to their attention.

If you wish to save your world, then fight me. Otherwise, prepare to suffer the consequences with the fate of your world in my hands.

The various heroes would need to put any of their differences aside to work out who was the culprit responsible for sending out the threatening note and more importantly, who is the new threat that wants to bring chaos to the world?

The TCADMR is dispatched after hearing rumors on a couple of cases.

Our story starts when a covert investigation was launched into the Institute of Super Science (ISS), a supposed reputable biotech research center, on rumors of biotechnology experiments on missing persons throughout Tokyo. It's rumored that the disgraced black ops unit Shade is working secretly with the ISS on abducting these persons on behalf of the ISS' backers.

Meanwhile, an ISS representative wanted for multiple crimes in several jurisdictions was reported to be last seen trying to make contact with someone from Coral Harbor's Energy Management Center.

Other heroes have converged on either these two locations as well to get to the bottom of things that have bewildered the public.

Will these heroes who will save the world? Or will they fail and usher in certain doom?

Character rules:

  • Anyone who's a hero character from a Sentai/PR, Kamen Rider or Metal Hero franchise is allowed to join. Generally, I can also give leeway to other stuff that can be considered toku by Japanese standards as long as he/she is known to use henshin before changing forms (or maybe they can't, depending on things). And if you're going to let me know of indie sentai stuff, then yes I'm aware. As long as there's been proper documented releases (eg it's available via home media/legal streaming), but I have a final say on the latter.
  • For the type of characters, it can be a canon or an OC. Last time I saw this, it's typically someone who succeeded the original ranger. If characters are known to operate as a duo, I'll also allow it.
  • Character has to be a hero-type character in case people don’t get it. If someone used to be a bad guy or is a known anti-hero, it’s acceptable too.

Sheet:

  • Name: Obvious
  • Appearance: Two things I want here. One is how he/she/it (maybe) looks like in their civilian/normal identity and another in their henshined form (ranger/sentai/metal hero/toku costume). If one or the other doesn't apply in any way, let me know.
  • Universe: Where is your character from?
  • Hero Type: Is the hero based on Kamen Rider/Super Sentai or Power Rangers/Metal Hero or from the general tokusatsu category for places where your character can't be categorized. (Ask GM for clarification on the latter if a proper hero type can't be figured out.)
  • History: What's his/her/its backstory.
  • Character Skills: What can your character do, in and out of their costume.
  • Equipment: What your character has. If he/she/it doesn't have any, then ignore this.
  • Starting Point: For those joining in, there are/will be at least two scenario stages to map out. This determines where your character starts first. I will advise if this is needed if later peeps join in.
  • Comment: Anything to note.

Assuming this goes on, I'll post relevant RP lore in the discussion thread.

For now, signups are on. I'll probably stick a character I made too to fill the numbers.

I'm in. I'll just need some time. Would people/places from GARO and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight exist here? Or would they be outliers that wouldn't happen here? Also, would all heroes in this RP hail from this one 'verse or is this an Isekai situation?

I'll answer it in two parts:

1. Those from GARO and Dragon Knight do exist. They haven't been placed on the list where they can't exist due to being an AU. If I say they're an AU, then you can still play as someone, provided that you can find a way.

2. The stuff I wrote on the list in the second OP post don't exist in the RP world. Technically, they'd have to be in this 'verse in an isekai kinda way.

Name: Jiro Momotani

Appearance:

Universe:

  • Avataro Sentai Donbrothers: A world in which four unlucky people are conscripted into joining Momoi Taro in protecting their city from Hitotsu-Ki (Monsters people mutate into when overcome with extreme desire) and the Noto Layer, whose proxies seek to kill the hosts of these monsters rather than liberate them like the heroes. The Donbrothers do not operate on Team Spirit and are very prone to in-fighting and Poor Communication Kills (per the Toshiki Inoue Signature Style); half of them being some shade of Byronic Hero, yet generally meaning well enough to be considered heroes anyway.

Hero Type: Super Sentai

History:

I'm gonna put the backstory in spoiler tags since this character's from a recent season and it's kinda spoiler-heavy.

Jiro Momotani is one of the few survivors of a massacre initiated by the Noto Layer against their former rulers the Don Clan, who ejected their twin surviving heirs to Earth in desperation. One of these heirs was Jiro, who was taken in by the policeman Terasaki and raised in his village. Jiro found it difficult to socialize with people from a young age and eventually manifested a split personality that could better fit in with other people. This way, the man himself could focus solely on becoming a strong hero while the other personality could serve as a mask and could make friends he was unable to; the illusion of stability.

Jiro (both sides of him) worked to train himself into the strongest hero and eventually left his village to take up this role, discovering the Donbrothers two years after and immediately deciding to lead them after events led to Momoi Taro's (temporary) death. However, the two Jiros’ perception of a “hero” were skewed: The social side simply wanted to be noticed and tried so hard he alienated the others (possessing Momoi Taro's Lack of Empathy) while the genuine article was only focused on the strength aspect and attacked the others multiple times in his pursuit of heroism; seeing himself as The Only One and growing envious of Taro's power. The team tolerated Jiro only because he also fought the Hitotsu-Ki like they and the Noto did – seeing him as little more than a Wild Card due to the abysmal first impressions his two personalities left. It was only after meeting the newest Noto agent Don Murasame and bonding over their shared lack of purpose that Jiro's extremes subsided and the others’ opinion of him thawed...a little.

When the team eventually discovered the insidious threat of the appeance-duplicating Juto monsters, Jiro was shocked to discover that his foster-father Terasaki was a Penguin Juto and had raised Jiro with the intent of making him into another inhuman guardian of the Juto Forest after his host's passing - having fabricated an entire village's worth of sentient illusions to give the boy a life. After Taro dealt with the Juto, Jiro was despondent and went into mental repose from the shock.

It was during this time that the true personality found itself ripped from Jiro and taken elsewhere due to an anomaly. The only thing it saw upon its arrival in this new place was the challenge to various heroes to fight.

How could he refuse? He would be the only one.

Character Skills:

Jiro himself:

  • Super-Strength: Jiro is a member of the Don Clan, the same species that make up the Noto Layer. Denizens of the Layer are shown to be stronger than humans, though show little else in terms of other outstanding traits. Jiro is second in strength only to The Leader Momoi Taro, whom his social side sees as The Rival and the man himself sees as a threat to the former’s ascent to heroism.

  • Empathy: The "Dangerous" side of Jiro is deceptively empathic and despite his lack of charisma and savage demeanor, can tell when someone else is suffering or despondent. It’s during these instances that his softer side shows; him showing restraint against compromised foes instead of taking advantage of them, engaging in philosophical conversation and even saving Taro’s life at a vulnerable moment to confront him on more honorable terms.

  • Independence: A factor vaguely explored is the idea of the two Jiros operating independently of one another. When occupying the same body, they work like typical alters: overtaking and controlling the body in question with the other dormant. On one occasion however, the two were able to split off into their own separate bodies and fight as their respective Donbrother forms; teaming up to defeat a monster. It's never explained how this is achieved, though it does explain how Jiro was transported to this reality separately from his other.

As Don Torabolt:

Don Torabolt is an armored warrior that specializes in axe-fighting and close-range battle, eschewing grace and tact in favor of overwhelming brute force (Think Wolverine, but with an axe and lacking the regeneration).

  • Avatar Change: The Donbrothers are all capable of accessing a feature known as "Avatar Change," which replaces their forms with those of their predecessors to vary their powers in combat. Both versions of Jiro are capable of tapping into these powers in combat with the Avataro Gears – changing into various Sixth Rangers (and only Sixth Rangers) of the past. Ironically, the Donbrothers make remarkably little use of their ability to tap into the past much of the time.

  • Robotaro: The Donbrothers are capable of entering special mech-like "Robotaro" forms in combat, which typically serve as mech-components. The Donbrothers are unique in this regard in that the team's mech-forms can fight at both human size and full gigantic proportions; able to transition between the two as the situation warrants - serving as both mech-fodder and individual upgrades. In practice, they tend to use the Robotaro forms individually on the ground, then fuse into their mech. They've only fought as a human-sized mech on a few occasions; typically on Taro's whim.

Don Torabolt's form is "Don Robobolt," a mechanical tiger-mech. When he fuses with his other side, the two form ToraDragonJin, a compound mech that utilizes a spear and acrobatic Wushu moves to disorient foes.

Equipment:

  • Ryukonogeki: Don Torabolt's personal transformation device. By adding the Torabolt Avataro Gear into the center of the device and pulling its trigger, Jiro can transform into Don Torabolt, as which he wields this axe as a deadly weapon. The social side has demonstrated that swapping modes of the weapon triggers a personality swap. However, due to the nature of Jiro's transportation to this universe, the weapon remains locked in Axe Mode – leaving the powers of Don Doragoku sealed away.

  • Avataro Gears: Special Gears that the Donbrothers use to access their arsenals and powers. Each Donbrother has a Gear specific to them - Torabolt being no exception.

Starting Point: (I assume the DM decides this. I'm ambivalent.)

Comment:

  • Given there's more than twenty Sixth Rangers in Sentai lore, I’m probably not gonna tap into the form-changing much. Honestly, that sounds like a game balance discussion.

  • I debated adding both Jiros in as a duo, but they kinda-sorta count as two different Rangers (think Lupin X / Patren X, just with Split Personality as the justification), so I didn't wanna rock the boat.

I think Jiro's fine.

What I'm gonna say that is that there is consideration to maybe have a giant monster battle that can be easily beaten by a giant mech without getting other rangers to combine. You can consider that.

Otherwise, should be fine.

And I'll tack him to start in Japan, in the grand tradition of Super Robot Wars.

Tossing in a character I got up:

  • Name: Marc Lu
  • Appearance:
  • Universe: Power Rangers Beasts Morphers (Expanded through Make a Wish in collaboration with Saban Brands)
  • Hero Type: Power Ranger
  • History: Marc's a Canadian, adopted at a young age by an Asian-Canadian father (he's said to be of Chinese-Filipino origin). Any further details were not disclosed, except that he did live in the Philippines at a young age with his father due to work between the Philippines and Singapore. It was until after high school that Marc came back to Canada to study at university. Afterwards, he applied to join CSIS as an intelligence analyst to specialize in the Asia-Pacific. Marc learned Japanese to speak the language enough, which he studied during his years in university. CSIS used it in consideration to recruit him as a Japan specialist. It was after Marc was in his early 30s that he was recruited by TCAMDR.

At the time, TCAMDR placed Marc as a potential candidate in a unit that would operate with ranger or rider-based powers while conducting black operations such as sabotage or reconnaissance-in-force.

Unlike Marc's older(?)/younger(?) Go-Buster counterparts who were exposed to animal DNA or the Metavirus, he fights like a normal person. Albeit the GB ranger suit gives him more capability to use whatever fighting skills he knows to the max.

As of his current assignment, Marc is not issued with a Buddy Roid nor a Buster Machine. Marc laments that he needs to commandeer conventional vehicles for any TCAMDR op.

  • Character Skills:
    • Specializes in OSINT/HUMINT intelligence gathering
    • Speaks three languages (English, Tagalog and Japanese)
    • Limited training in close quarters combat
    • Can handle most conventional small arms after being trained under TCADMR

  • Equipment:
    • Morphin Brace
    • Ichigan Buster
    • Sougan Blade
    • Transpod
    • Iphone smartphone with encrypted apps (only when not wearing a ranger suit)
    • When on covert ops, Marc's equipped with a SSS Defence P-72 RECON Carbine (5.56 NATO), a Kalyani Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) submachine gun and a Glock 17 pistol. All are equipped with suppressors when required.

  • Starting Point: Japan.
  • Comments: Marc's specific biological roots were never disclosed to him by his adopted father, but he was told that he has Chinese ancestry. When Marc speaks English, it's a mix of Philippine and Canadian (West Coast) accent; though his Japanese is the Tokyo (Standard) dialect.

Announcement:

Going over what we have so far, I've decided that we can start the RP if two or more characters are ready to go from both Japan or in the US.

Since we have two characters ready to go, two characters are required in the US route.

The max number of character per route is set to 5.

Thank you very much.

PS - Watching Dogengers as of recent. Be interested to see if someone does use a Dogenger character.
