The more I'm seeing of this, the less I'm liking it
Which tracks with how I felt about the first one, had things I didn't like either.
Oh neat, Spectacular Spider-Man is there in that crowd shot.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I don't know if it's just me, but confirmation this series takes place in the MCU's multiverse makes me worry how many incursions this is causing.
Considering this movie is produced by Sony with no direct involvement from Marvel Studios I would be very surprised if any piece of MCU media were to even vaguely allude to anything here.
I'd say this is probably more likely to get a nod on the MCU side than, say, Morbius stealing Michael Keaton's Vulture, for the simple reason that Spider-Verse has a much better reputation than the SSU. Sure, Tom Hardy's Venom appeared briefly in No Way Home, but I suspect that was just Marvel throwing a bone to Sony in an effort to appease them so they didn't try taking the rights away again.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonWell that movie had some direct involvement by Sony, so I guess on that note I could actually see a future Spider-Man film throw in a nod to this. But I'm pretty sure that is the only place were that is a possibility.
There is the uncertainty of how much Marvel is allowed to reference Spidey in a film he doesn't appear in without Sony's involvement. It was commonly thought they couldn't do that at first, but then Multiverse of Madness and Quantumania were both allowed to refer to him by name in dialogue, so maybe there's some wiggle room to work in a Spider-Verse reference somewhere somehow?
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonFinally saw the trailer ahead of GOTG 3 (I'd been avoiding it), and am I the only one who foubd the jab at "Doctor Strange and that nerd from Earth-199999" kind of cringey. "Oh, ha ha, because that's MCU Peter" (well, it used to be.
Anyway, I like the idea of Miles resisting the self-destructive tendency of most Spider-People that they have to sacrifice themselves FULLY for their "great reponsibility." If the movie actually commits to that and has at least some of the Spideys come around to that thinking, I'd love it... And honestly be shocked.
I actually think most of the Uncle Bens, if they could talk to their Peters now, would be like "When I said that, I didn't mean you shouldn't take care of YOURSELF too." (Or everyone's Uncle Ben equivalents)
Sony has been officially released brand new TV Spots with new dialogue and visuals:
There's no English equivalent of this German ad yet, but it centers more on Gwen and Miles' trip across Miles' Manhattan with other unique scenes.
Additionally, a sequence featuring Miles vs The Spot in Spanish:

Heh spots.

It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThinking about it, as cool as the "I'm gonna do my own thing" line is, Miguel or whoever said that the life of Spider-Man is one of sacrifice is ultimately right
Like there's not really a different way to do it. Miles being a superhero will inevitably impact his personal life negatively, taking time out of his school work, any jobs he might want, or experiences with friends and family.
I guess the theme here is for Miles to not fall into the sacrifice mindset the multiverse of Peter's fall into, but Miles falling into it is sort of an inevitability. About the only different thing he can do is tell his parents he's Spider-Man which he prolly will by the end of the film.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Good thing the film's 2 hours long, because we not only have another new English TV spot from Singapore, but also a UK trailer spliced with new footage.
This trailer actually has the initial Spot confrontation in English.

Another round of new TV spots with original footage. This English dub one from Cambodia features Gwen and Miles taking turns doing Miles' own "Let's do this one last time..."
Furthermore, our first look of Pavitr Prabhaker - Spider-Man India.
Finally found the English track for this ad, where Gwen talks about her different counterparts' faithful and troubled pairings with Spider-Man.
And we got a new promo showing off Jessica Drew
As expected there is now controversy over her engaging in superheroics despite being heavily pregnant
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It's crazy they actually trying to make Spider-Persom on motorcycle s thing. Usually you only see Spidey on bike when companies badly want you to buy toys.
Jess is the spy. She gets to have a cool toy.
Wake me up at your own risk. They seem to really wanna make it her thing cause I don't think there's an image of her that isn't on a motorcycle.
Like every bit she's seen in always her her on the bike, she doesn't seem to do anything without it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."According to co-director Justin K. Thompson, the film's finally finished all forms of production.
We're starting to see reactions regarding the movie.
Not sure if he reacted to Into the Spider-Verse, but Mr. GOAT Guillermo del Toro reacted to Across the Spider-Verse:
Speaking of Into the Spider-Verse, turns out it's James Gunn's favorite number one superhero movie!
Social media reactions are the things I trust the least... But I definitely trust Del Toro, so very excited!

I suppose the fact she's a superpowered individual with the same enhanced strength, stamina, and durability as every other spider-person, doesn't dissuade them?
Well she's still pregnant. Bing superhuman doesn't change that.
Either that baby is gonna be constantly bouncing around with how much Jess moves on that motorcycle or one good gut punch is gonna mean bad things for the poor kid.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Keep in mind this is the same film featuring an adult Peter Parker who explicitly brings his infant daughter into his superheroics (and treated as a joke). Mind you, deaged from her original MC2 who was around our two underaged superheroes leads' teen ages.
It's fair to say Jessica and her baby will be fine. She's not even the most recent example of a pregnant fighter in a blockbuster, who hardly garnered the same kind of kneejerk backlash despite being just as fantastical.
This Twitter-spawned argument kind of bothered me because the two trending tweets about it came from folks who were either explicitly "anti-woke", or interpreted this as "Hollywood pushing propaganda that real pregnant folks will do heavy labor, so screw paid leave benefits."
Both being extremely bad faith outrage fodder for a plot point that was revealed in writing months ago, but ironically Peter parading around Mayday came first in the visible promos before Jessica's Mother's Day clip, and never got the same Fridge Logic analysis.
Edited by XMenMutant22 on May 25th 2023 at 3:37:46 PM
I don't really consider Peter hanging with Mayday the same thing, since he doesn't seem to be bringing her into an active combat zone. He just brought her to the base with the assumption he would see no action, the fact he's wearing a bathrobe lends credence that he at no point expected shit to hit the fan.
Meanwhile we see Jess willingly joining in Gwen and Miguel fighting an alternate Vulture, which is more of an actual instance of willingly endangering her kid. She's clearly not forced, she is doing this of her own volition. Like if a character engaged in combat while being heavily sick that would be stupid of them since they are not working at 100%, Jess doing this while pregnant, itself an extremally laborious process for any women is just dumb.
Also that Avatar example was just as stupid yeah. Especially since it was largely so James Cameron can engage in shameless self-promotion and brag about how he's the "greatest uber-feminist who ever lived" all because he thought of the idea of a pregnant woman fighting on the frontlines.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Not officially. We'll most likely find out somewhere closer to release.
Meanwhile, more promors with new footage have been released. Naturally, more cameos of different Spiders, including musician Metro Bloomin's Spider-Sona.
