Per crowner, Laconic/ pages for certain namespaces are no longer allowed, specifically:
- Characters/
- Indexes (Main/)
- Creators (Creator/)
- Administrivia/
- Recap/
A list of Laconic/ pages with matching names to pages at affected namespaces is here: Sandbox.Liminal Laconics List.
Almost all of these are to be cut, though note that a few could have been applied to trope or work pages with the same name and thus don't have to be cut.
The crowner decided to keep Laconics for Useful Notes except for "certain" categories, which are still under discussion.
Original OP
Following up on this ATT report, there seems to be a bit of confusion concerning where having a laconic is appropriate.
I was under the impression that only trope pages had them, but apparently some works pages have and the ATT report linked above has them on Useful Notes pages.
So should we limit them only to certain pages, or allow them as long as they aren't breaking rules?

Mmhm. A Laconic crowner part 2 could have individual laconic UN and and blanket laconic self-demonstrating "yeah" or "nah" options.
Is Casual Video Game (et al.) an index or a work type alongside an index? I mean we're not losing much by cutting its laconic but we're also not cutting tropes.
Genres in general are a werid mix of trope articles with indexes of works.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupFor genre pages, if they have a substantial description I'd treat them like a trope page (leave the laconic). If it's bare-bones, then I'd cut the laconic. Like Vampire Fiction; even though vampire fiction is a genre, the description basically just says "works about vampires", so I approved the cut for the laconic, which said "An index of fictional stories about vampires."
The indexes folder at Sandbox.Liminal Laconics List needs to be double-checked and removed if everything is correct.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupLooks like Sandbox has been cleared. I can double-check later, though the question of controversial Useful Notes hasn't been touched on and SelfDemonstrating.Character Pages may go to the second crowner.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupIt's been a while since we've touched this, but thought I'd bring this back up since the Useful Notes Wiki Talk crowner could very well affect a future Useful Notes crowner.

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die (all editions) progress: 436/1089 (40.04%)It was brought up in the laconic description thread that LetsPlay/ is a weird borderline between a works namespace and a creator namespace. Think we should do something about that?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Isn't the Lets Play namespace getting removed anyways in favor of Web Video and Creator pages? In those cases, typical rules apply: work pages get laconics but creator pages don't.
I definitely remember a discussion happening that resulted in a lot of them getting removed... I don't remember the discussion itself or what the actual conclusion was. I didn't participate in it myself.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.yeah, same. I'm trying to find a crowner but can't seem to find the right thread.
Let's Play is indeed being depreciated as far as I remember — anything that keeps is being merged into Web Video.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYep, it was made official on this thread; we just haven't finished all of the work yet.
Anyways, what amatheiu said is correct. The laconics describes the work/videos the let's players do (if the work page is valid)

Macron's notesI cutlisted a few index laconics, but they were declined.
Indexes can have laconics
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessBut the crowner clearly agreed to ban them?
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Read the crowner wrong, my bad.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI knew "vote up to BAN laconics" could be confusing, but we made the best of a bad situation.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I resubmitted them, linking to the crowner, and this time they were cut.
Should Laconic.Unknown Troper be cut? Typically troper pages aren't allowed to have laconics, but Unknown Troper is an atypical troper page.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I'm fine with it, if only because it is more or less a joke page.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness("Tropers." isn't an invalid namespace, interesting)
These system troper pages feel like JFF content to me, so I've been wondering if these can be split off.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupIt kinda ruins the joke if they're moved to JFF, though, and nobody would stumble on it by accident.
I think the thing is that Tropers/ pages don't get subpages aside from sandboxes anyway, so technically that bans laconics too.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe troper page can stay where it is. As far as the laconic goes, I don't care about one way or the other.
Macron's notes
We may put that into the crowner. We're also to discuss which Useful Notes are a problem and also the cutting is still ongoing, so it's not like the thread is going to be idle.
