How to fix quote line not breaking?

So over on this TLP post, I posted this into a comment:

Pencilvester: Rick, I'm Pencilvester! Listen to that name! You can't kill me!
Rick: You're right. [indicates Pencilvester to Morty] Kill Pencilvester.

And despite the two backslashes the break doesn't happen. The next line continues on the same line. I pasted the same thing into a trope page and pressed preview and that time it did format correctly (I did not save the edit of course.) Can anyone let me know why it won't line break correctly?

TLP (and "query" pages in general) have slightly different markup interpretation than regular wiki pages, and sometimes it just doesn't work.
