I see I wasn't mistaken in what I saw in the first episode then. When Elora crossed the barrier, her hair looked much redder than normal. Episode 4 has made it clear that magic is going to bring back her red hair. Also, Graydon cracked a joke in the first episode about being deathy afraid of dying... and communal bathing. Now that we've seen the ritual scarring on his chest, he's got a good reason for that — and let's face it, that scarring is some kind of ritual binding from whatever dark power was possessing him in childhood; I guess the question is whether that's still the case, or whether Elora "cured" that, too.

No one has talked about this for two episodes, so here I go:

  • Kit needs to be careful where she stands.
  • Arik needs to be careful who he trusts.

Just caught up.

Traeth Pentywyn stands out from a mile away... well, seven miles, actually. [lol]

Clearly, their special effects budget went on their sojourn on the Shattered Sea, the environment, the lighting, the magical fights, the Mudmander — who is clearly going to repay Graydon's kindness at an important moment. In fairness, however, Episode 7 was very beautiful to look at, if nothing else. It is interesting that Willow and Elora's magic is the same colour while Graydon's is purple, despite the fact he's learning from Willow as well. I wonder what that means. Elora's magic turned blue when she used the Pnakotic spell, which suggests the colour does have something to do with the type of magic being used. When he took out the Dag, I notice him in the background of the scene, clutching his shoulder where the cursed injury occurred. Later on, he was scratching his other shoulder (which Elora commented on), and a couple of times in the episode he checked his chest; we know he's had both the scarring due to a childhood possession and that issue with the possession magic. So, there's obviously something still going on with him, and I'm wondering if Kenneth's sickening was more to do with Graydon than the Immemorial City... or all three could be connected, "both" is almost always an option.

So I believe this is the final episode of the season.

Not sure if that's a future Elora, some kind of evil twin, or the Wyrm taking her form, but Graydon is in trouble.

Also, Elora upholds the the traditional method of combat for Sorceresses in Willow.[lol]

Welp, at least now we know what Willow's vision was about.

I think that was the Wyrm at the end, or at least an avatar. Talking about being the end and the beginning is fairly ouroboros in expression. It clearly has some kind of weakness or vulnerability, however, given that it seems to require a human anchor of some kind. It's trying to exploit Graydon's feelings for Elora because it sees love as a weakness (or, perhaps more accurately, can only interpret it as "desire", and thus a corruptible "flaw"). With Graydon having been portrayed as initially weak, and vulnerable to demonic possession, that can be milked until the story gets back to its "love is the greatest power in the universe" message, cue Elora, that flute, and them both reaching their full potential, hence the dead "Elora" being the "avatar" or Wyrm. The Stinger putting the opening credits book back onto the shelf makes it pretty clear that this story is supposed to cover three seasons.

Unfortunately, Willow will not be renewed for a second season on Disney+.

Very disappointing, but the continued silence was making me guess this would be the case.

Yeah, "no news is good news" definitely doesn't apply to streaming shows.

According to a thread by showrunner Jon Kasden, reports by trades of the show's "cancellation" aren't completely accurate.

Per ScreenRant's synopsis:

The showrunner's lengthy letter to fans (and non-fans) of the show ultimately explains that Willow hasn't so much been cancelled as put on indefinite hold. In light of recent big changes within the streaming industry, he writes, it became apparent that Willow season 2 would not begin filming in the next 12 months. All of the show's lead stars were therefore released from their contracts to allow them to pursue other projects.

You know what other show “let go of their cast”…? That’s right, Mindhunter!!

And we all know what happened to it in the end, don’t we all…?

Generally, my opinion of the show was positive. There were some very poor choices like the random anachronistic music but I was genuinely into the characters by the end of the story and supported Elora Danan as The Chosen One way more than I did Shadow and Bone's Alina.

I also loved Graydon.

But let's be honest, Boorman and Willow were carrying this show and easily could have been the stars of a show without the kids.

Yeah, this would be an excellent show if they would have toned down the MCU-style jokey-ness to a more managable tone. Not to mention it threw me to hear Enter Sandman and Black Hole Sun covers, along with Crimson and Clover.

[up] Yeah, that's why I binged it. I didn't exactly have high hopes, but it was okay.
