I ask this because there are some people who refuse to change their bad behavior and do NOT feel even a slight hint of remorse for their bad behavior, so for those people, should banning them be made permanent?

As far as I know, suspensions already last until they're appealed. Users in the suspension appeal thread are expected to talk with the mods, and the mods seem to already understand when somebody's at risk of repeating an offense.

Plus, there's literally the "bounce" feature that puts users on read-only. So yes, mods can and have perma-banned before.

Moderators are responsible for making all ban-related decisions. Please do not backseat mod. If you have information that is relevant to a suspension case, please provide it in Ask The Tropers or PM it to a moderator, but asking for someone to be permanently banned is not acceptable.
