I could kinda-sorta see them trying Inhumans again in some capacity. The show was so forgettably bad that everyone just sort of memory-holed it, to the extent they probably could pull it off and pretty much nobody would go "hey it's the guys from that thing that sucked".

We have a brand new ad for the series, entitled "Fantasy":
We have a new "MCU crew shot" poster form the series.
Huh. The woman on the right kinda resembles Kamala's brother's fiancee in the comics. She wasn't introduced until later in the comics iirc

Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Yeah, it looks like her brother is already married in this version.
I think (and would prefer) that they’ll enter a relationship and marry over the course of the series. Aamir’s character grows considerably as a result of his relationship with Tyesha, initially being viewed by his family as a slacker (very devout, but jobless) and becoming more responsible as a partner.
A wedding makes for a big climax too.

Pakistan will have an interesting release format for the series:
Disney and Marvel Studios will be specially creating a cinema format version of the six episode series for Pakistan, split into three parts! This decision was made to celebrate the introduction of the first Pakistani Marvel superhero, Kamala Khan. Disney and Marvel did not want Pakistani audiences to miss out on seeing #Ms Marvel and her story as Disney+ has not yet launched in their country.
That’s nice. Raya and the Last Dragon was straight up inaccessible in large parts of the region it was based on at release so it’s good that the Disney+ people arranged that.
Hopefully it’s actually good representation for the home crowd.
A brand new teaser has been released:
With how little time Carol Danvers expends on Earth in the mcu it doesn't make much sense for Kamala to idolize her over someone like Black Widow wich is a female heroine who actually expends most of her time on the planet and was the first female Avenger in this universe.
There were five years between Infinity War and Endgame where Carol was an active Avenger. Her dialog with Black Widow in that one scene implied she's on Earth with some regularity.
I'm sure the show will explain it anyway. Like how Hawkeye opened with a flashback of Hawkeye saving Kate's life.
In an Empire interview, Kevin Feige talks about Ms. Marvel's Adaptational Superpower Change.
Most notably, as fans may have spotted in the trailers, Khan’s power-set looks to be a little different here – rather than stretching and morphing her body (“Embiggen!”), Kamala seems to have purple cosmic powers in the show. And while on page she was an Inhuman, her powers activated by the Terrigen Mist, there’s a different plan afoot here. “We adapt the comics; it’s not an exact translation,” Kevin Feige tells Empire. “[Kamala] came about in a very specific time within the comic-book continuity. She is now coming into a very specific time within the MCU continuity. And those two things didn’t match.” The new origins for Khan’s powers looks set to be part of the journey of the show. “What we will learn about where those powers come from, and how they come about, is specific to the MCU,” Feige teases. “You will see great comic splash panels in some of our action sequences. If you want big, giant hands and arms, well they’re here in spirit, if not in stretchy, plastic-type ways.”
And that exploration of Kamala’s powers looks set to continue through her upcoming adventures too. (The Marvels) “It taps into the future of her story as it connects to her other friends that she will meet in the upcoming film The Marvels,” confirms Feige. “She’s interested in knowing, ‘Great, does that mean I’m an Asgardian? Did I get hit with gamma rays?’ No, it’s seemingly none of those things. It goes to her own past and her heritage and lineage.”
I guess that's his way of confirming "no, she's not an Inhuman", then? Given her being an Inhuman is infamously The Artifact of a Dork Age for the brand.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI think that basically confirms that her powers tie into the new origin for the Ten Rings.
I'm okay with the revised backstory, but I do wish they'd kept her powers a little more visually similar. I always liked that she had a stereotypically "ugly" superpower.
Man if Ike Perlmutter didn't have his mutant murdering mist Inhumans push Kamala would have her Inhumans roots.
Mileena MadnessIn an Entertainment Weekly interview, Ms. Marvel's comic co-creator Sana Amanat talks about adapting the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Topics range from Amant's opinions on actress Iman Vellani, the thought process on Kamala being influenced by MCU Carol, and the coming of age tone. Much like Feige days ago, she discusses and understands the changes done to fit the larger narrative goal of the MCU.
Sana Amanat: Obviously, so much of the show is an adaptation, and we thought it was important to make sure that her powers are linking to larger stories in the Marvel universe. We wanted to make sure there is a little bit more story to tell after this series. Obviously, she goes into The Marvels. The powers do look different, which is very controversial. I know people are like, "How dare you change the powers!" I know people are upset about it, but as someone who's probably one of the closest people to this character from the inception, and having spoken to Willow about this as well, I think Willow and I have always felt that this made sense. This was the right move because there are bigger stories to tell.
It's really fun to give Kamala different kinds of powers that feel big in scope and cinematic in a different way. We can do a lot of fun things with her. I don't want to spoil too much about how she uses her powers, but they're fun and bouncy. At the same point, the essence of what the powers are in the comics is there, both from a metaphorical standpoint and from a visual standpoint. We're doing the embiggened fist. We're doing the elements that make her feel and look kind of crazy, but also really cool. I think it's going to be familiar to people, but at the same time, different in a fresh and unique way.
A brand new behind the scenes video has been released:
New teaser. MCU-Kamala is using her powers to mimic the stretching powers of the comic version.
I do kind of wonder if Carol Danvers will show up at the end of this series.
Like they'll obviously meet in The Marvels, but I kind of think the scene would have greater weight if it's an epilogue scene here.
At the end would be the best time for it to happen, yes.
I think it makes sense that Kamala so idolizes Carol even if the latter hasn't been doing a lot of on-Earth stuff that we've seen. Carol is very traditionally heroic, and her having been hardworking before getting powers helps too. Her being a 'strong' woman, in the "woman is praised for expressing traditionally masculine virtues better than men do" sense, might also be a factor, as unfortunate a truth as that might be.
Plus it's basically The Smurfette Principle in action. Talking about Black Widow's past is kind of iffy, but see, Carol was in the air force and broke sexist barriers in the military and fought aliens to save the planet, isn't that cool, kids?
I do wonder how they'll adapt the early bit of the comic before Kamala gets her powers, obviously the powers and power-acquiring-method have been changed. Since the new trailer revealed that Kamala can still do the stretchy thing, one scene I really hope they keep is the bit in the first issue where Kamala saves a drunk Zoe note from drowning because it's just the right thing to do. It works so well as an Establishing Character Moment for her.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrThe MCU being too much CGI spectacle than actual down-to-earth stuff has always been a complaint of mine, so I'm very happy to see that this is apparently more slice-of-life.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my Tumblr"Good is not a thing you are, Kamala. It is a thing you do."
This guy. This guy gets it. So many writers don't get it. I'm not sure who this guy actually is supposed to be in the show, but he's already my favorite character.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.The same thing was explored in The Batman, where Bruce was forced to realize that going around beating the shit out of bad guys and making them afraid only created worse monsters and he had to be something better.
I suspect that they'll give themselves the option of Kamala being revealed to be an Inhuman down the line, if ever they decide the Inhumans have a place in the MCU after all.
But if so they'll keep it vauge and say "your bracelet is reacting to something in your geneology".
Much like how Scarlet Witch started out as the product of Mind Stone experiments, but there was room for her to be later revealed to be a wizzard lady prophecy child.
