Hello, everyone. Yes, that is the title, and yes, that is what we'll be attempting here. This very strange idea came to me through a couple of different things. First off, way back in the days of yore, I stumbled upon a certain Robot Chicken sketch that clearly left some impact on me. A few years later, Game of Thrones was at the height of popularity, some poor soul on another forum devised a game thus inspired, wherein different players would fill certain roles within neighbouring kingdoms. Political skullduggery, questionable ethics, and the looming threat of war ensued. Now, I know that classical Disney is fairly niche on these forums, and Game of Thrones is a show whose time has come and gone, but the combined ideas, this utterly insane pitch, has been bugging the back of my mind for years, and it's finally time I did something about it. Is the result a roleplay, a forum game, a social experiment? Damned if I know. But with no further ado, let us begin.

Every kingdom and culture in this world has its myths, its legends, its stories it tells about how it all came to be. But there is one event, one common thread, one chapter that is told in every story of the history of this continent- The Chaos Storm. No one knows for certain how it started or what twisted magic fueled it, but it struck without warning, destroying all within its wake, distorting landscapes and snuffing out countless lives in an instant. Many lives were uprooted, townships scattered, as people fled in a great exodus for somewhere, anywhere, where they could be safe. Eventually, all broke through the seemingly endless tempest, and found themselves here, on this continent we call Fantasia.

Times were harsh to begin with- the same can be said of all pilgrimages. But even then, the people were not prepared for what they found in these uncharted lands. Twisted monsters, kingdoms of lunatics, beasts that walked and talked like men, and of course the fair folk and all their guile and sorcery. Despite the odds, the pilgrims cleared away all obstacles, tamed the strange and mystic landscape, and put down roots all of their own. Houses clustered into villages, villages grew to cities, cities became the beating hearts of mighty kingdoms that would stand for centuries hence. But alas, this wondrous world gifted to mankind...was not big enough for us all.

The Great War is still fresh in all our minds. A time when the kingdoms of the north clashed for dominance and the right to expand their borders. Brothers fought with brothers, sons never returned to their mothers, and entire townships were struck from the map, reduced to rubble and reclaimed by the chaos of the Wild. The fierce struggle was at its height when suddenly, there came an end that no one could have predicted. A mere girl, a princess of the kingdom of Arendelle, stepped onto the battlefield, its mud churned by iron boots and the air filled with an orchestra of bloodlust. Then, with a wave of her hand, the conflict went still and silent...for all its soldiers found themselves encased in a wall of ice.

Faced with a power that none could reckon against, the aggressors to the west surrendered. In the talks that followed, a settlement was reached wherein the kingdoms of the north would be divided and regrouped, with most kings and queens stripped of their full power and made vassals of six Houses, with those six answering to a ruler above all others. What ruler was that? Who else but Elsa of Arendelle, now coronated High Queen of Fantasia? Now in a higher position than she could ever have dreamed of, Elsa the Snow Queen's first decree was...rather unorthodox. By her command, each House that wished to rule would have to offer up a female heir to their throne, through blood or through marriage. This princess would have a seat on Queen Elsa's personal council and serve as her first point of call in governing all northern kingdoms. A way of elevating the importance of princesses in politics, or an excuse to spend time with her sister? None could say for certain, and few would dare question one with such power as Queen Elsa's.

Three years have passed since the Snow Queen's crowning. The empire of Fantasia holds fast, but is beset at all sides by those that want no part of it. To the East, the Beastfolk have forged a kingdom of their own, yet its own king has abandoned it and left it to the mercy of the wasteful Prince John. To the north, the Northuldran people keep to themselves, the remnants of the Hun Army roam for fresh meat, and rumours persist of a second Beastfolk kingdom, capable of who-knows-what. To the south, a strange civilisation with devices that almost seem like magic are opening their borders to trade with grain, but little else. To the west, expeditions in search of new land and riches have encountered islands of tribal people with cultural norms of their own. Many see this as an opportunity to expand, but few can agree on whether the olive branch or the conqueror's blade is what's best. While many turn their eyes outward, few stop to think to look within Fantasia, to remind themselves that their High Queendom is not a monolith, but one of many kingdoms, each with their own agendas and designs for power. Will Fantasia prevail, or can it truly survive another war? Time alone will tell...

    The Rules
Here’s how it works

This game functions in rounds, referred to as Episodes, and will last for no longer than 10 Episodes. Each one will last for up to about a week, at most. Some mechanics are listed below, but by the game’s very nature, there’s plenty open to interpretation. If you have any questions on whether a move you want to make is legal or not, send a Discord PM my way and I’ll let you know.

Now then, the main portion of the game will take place right here on the forums. When you want an action to unfold in the story, like talking to a character, barring them passage or even attacking them, post it in the main game thread, and make sure you tag them with IC: Character’s Names, to indicate who would be immediately aware of this event. If there’s something your character wants to do in private, like say, sneaking into the kitchen and poisoning the wine, then mark that text in spoilers- and no reading other people’s spoilers! At the end of the round, I’ll do a write-up of most or all of the actions taken, immortalising the narrative as a chapter of the ongoing story.

The plus side of posting in the game, obviously, is to actually do things in the story! The downside is that anything from there could be included in the writeup, and potentially become public knowledge. With that in mind, there’s also another option: the Backdoor PM. Each player is at liberty to talk with each other via Discord PM, out of sight for me or anyone else, and potentially hatch plans that might take several episodes to mature. Nothing included in the Backdoor discussion will technically happen, which means you can’t take any extreme actions, like murder, in PM.

Typical Actions

  • Communication: This is going to be the primary action you take in the game. Keep in mind that while Backdoor PMs are useful, you can only make use of information that you learn in the Official Posts. If you learn something in a Backdoor PM, you’ll have to give me a very good reason not to call it metagaming if you want to use it in-game.

  • Travel: In each episode, a player can travel from one kingdom to the next at a rate of 24 hours at a time in-game. If travelling by sea or past a lake, one could also sail, which cuts time in half. But as a tradeoff, your departure and arrival at any harbour could become public knowledge.

  • Trade: Considering how complicated this game is going to be, I won’t be going into any money systems or economic frubbery. A nation has a simple choice for trading- either you do or you don’t. If one kingdom stops trading with another, this will have varying effects depending on the nation and commodity. For the moment, trade is active, so it’ll be taken as read that a nation has enough of each material to last up to three Episodes, should trade be ceased for whatever reason. Trade is kept in check by the Diplomats, usually on orders from their Ruler (see Roles below for both), and if a Diplomat is taken out of action, their kingdom will have up to four rounds before resources are depleted. That is, unless someone else takes up the mantle, forfeiting whatever role and powers they may have had before.

Other actions could potentially be viable, from uncovering hidden knowledge to silencing opponents to poisoning an entire kingdom. It would be impossible for me to think of everything, and I’ll keep an open mind about any other actions. Again, if you’re not sure if an action would be allowed, run it by me in PM and I’ll see if I approve it.

    The Roles
Every character will be slotted/shoehorned into a specific role to serve their nation. Given the nature of the game, many of these will be established characters from Disney Movies and associated Cartoons, Games and spinoff material. Of course, my knowledge of Disney is far from absolute, and many players may have their own interpretations, so take the characters I’ve placed more as guidelines than rules. Furthermore, not all the roles have a character that’s a natural fit, so feel free to come up with OCs that you feel suit the settings and roles.

With the sheer amount of potential character slots, it may be that not enough players will be available to man the ships. At initial entry, players may be permitted one additional character signup, maybe two, both in the same kingdom to prevent a conflict of interest. One thing you could try is picking a ‘canon’ character like a Princess, and then using an OC for a different role.

  • Ruler- Mostly referred to as Kings or Queens, these players rule over their respective kingdoms. In their region, their word is law, the final decisions are theirs, and they have the power to sway a large number of citizens. Their responsibility is making sure their subordinates perform their duties, and they must contend with public approval, not to mention the lethal political arena lined with fellow rulers.

  • General- These players take charge of a kingdom’s armed forces. Under them, the army is trained, maintained, and occasionally led. In addition, if the Ruler should ever die or vanish, the kingdom will fall under martial law and the General would be second in command. A General must be concerned with the morale and respect of his soldiers, as well as keeping tabs on the movements of forces around the continent.

  • Diplomat- These players are responsible for trade and diplomatic relations. They are typically the ones most likely to be travelling in order to do their jobs. They could alternatively send messages via Princesses, but this will cost them approval from the public. The populace of a kingdom is not kind to a Diplomat who can’t perform their duties, so they must be wary of maintaining their approval, not to mention dangers while travelling on the open road…

  • Chancellors- Also known as Viziers or even Loremasters, these players play the roles of advisors and historians, maybe even adventurers. Their duty is maintaining the history and lore of their nation, granting them access to ancient texts and legends, so they might better advise their rulers and aid their country. Under some circumstances, a Loremaster may also decide to go travelling, seeking out answers to new mysteries and gathering knowledge of the lands along their borders.

  • Princess- This game wouldn’t be the same without ‘em. These players form part of the Snow Queen’s Council, and functionally they’re a combination of the General, Diplomat and Loremaster roles. While they primarily will be advising the Snow Queen and dealing with diplomatic issues, each one command an even fraction of Auradon’s royal guard. They also have what they refer to as “Little Birds” spread across their respective regions to keep them appraised of any happenings (knowing these girls, some of them might literally BE little birds!) It would be difficult, though not impossible, to send their birds into other kingdoms.

Oh, and one more thing: there may also come a time when a player leaves the game or is otherwise absent without leave during the course of this relatively short game. If up to two rounds pass with an absent player, the character/s then becomes up for grabs: either another existing player may ask permission to play them, or they will simply be killed off in-game.

    Stats
These statistics will help you set your character apart, and hopefully set some balance in place when performing complex or aggressive actions. You can fill them out to help you, either with your particular role or with other areas of the game. You must number each of these stats from zero to four, weakest to strongest. For certain actions, you’ll be required to roll a six-sided die, and then add the appropriate stat number to your dice roll. For the sake of transparency, we might use a discord dice bot.

  • Strength- (Strength, Stamina, Durability, Attack Damage, Ability with Large Weapons and Tools)
  • Agility- (Speed, Dexterity, Dodging, Stealth, Ability with Small Tools and Weapons)
  • Intellect- (Tactics, Problem Solving, Knowledge Recall, Concentration, Critical Thinking)
  • Charisma- (Persuasion, Approval Level, Outward Appearance)
  • Luck- (Could be used to improve odds with a difficult roll, or as a ‘saving throw’ for a failed roll)

Now, for the most important aspect: the world of Fantasia itself. Below, you'll find a link to a map of the continent and its many kingdoms. Or at least, what kingdoms are available. There are spaces depicted to house most, though not all, Disney Princess-type movies. With the sheer number of movies out there, and the factions available through them, it's hard to pick which ones should be present...so, I'd like to leave that part up to you!

Anyone interested in taking part in this game, please mention which one you'd be most interested in playing, or at least seeing brought to life in this mess of a setting. If we get three votes to a kingdom, that'll be just enough players to run it and it'll thence be unlocked. At least three ought to form part of the High Kingdom of Fantasia, and then we'll know for sure that we've got a game. So, if there are any takers, don't hesitate to let me know, and remember...

When you wish upon a star...you live, or you die.

Potential interest for this game, though I'd need to give things more thought before saying which kingdoms and such I'd like to see in this game.

I have some ideas for characters I might want to play, though most of my ideas might be better for general/diplomat/chancellor slots as opposed to the ruler/princess, and I'd need to mull over my options if I was to choose one of those. My preferences for kingdoms would likely be dependent on which character(s) I'm playing (and I could probably just slot a character to whichever kingdoms are active), though I'm partial to seeing Agrabah and Miroir.

Also, would the courts of the outside entities (the Huns/Prince John's court/other places) be playable?

I have some interest in this, but I'd likely need a lot of help signing up and figuring out what to do.

Most likely not, as they're intended to be NPC factions to round off the corners, lend some colour to the setting, and/or provide roadblocks to certain actions. If not enough factions are picked up, then the locked ones would be replaced by NPC factions as well. Of course, that's not to say that they couldn't be interacted with, maybe even conquered, over the course of play.

On that note, of course, I could be open to integrating other settings into factions. For instance, a faction like Verre or Miroir could play host to Notre Dame and have Captain Phoebus or Judge Claude Frollo in a position of power. Hell, in the far future I might even be open to cobbling together factions for 'honorary princesses' like Alice or Wendy or Esmeralda (In fact thinking about it, Maid Marian is an honorary princess herself, isn't she?) But as is, the current princess factions are about all I had room for with this attempt at a map, and I feel like we've got more than enough options to be getting on with.

Quickly edited the original post, because I forgot to add Arendelle to the unlockable list and shame on me for doing so. I realise that Anna is technically only an honorary princess, but with her sister being the lynchpin of the game, I couldn't very well leave her out.

Seeing as Agrabah and Miroir have been suggested, I might just work on a pitch for the 'lore' of those kingdoms, and maybe even the others, to give everyone a better idea of what kind of world we'd be opening up.

I'm theoretically interested but a lot of my immediate ideas that pop into my head are a little beyond the scope you've already established. Maybe I'll find some interesting ideas inside the scope once I see the shape of what other people are coming up with.

So yeah tentative interest from me.

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

I guess I'm tentatively interested in the concept but am admittedly a little overwhelmed by the game aspect of this.

Ditto. Not sure I have the brains for it. Hell of an idea though.

It's a pretty cool idea, are you only gonna accept those kingdoms you mentioned or could more be added in the future?

Also I would be interested in playing Snowhite kingdom's I imagine the queen and ruler would be her stepmmother grimhilda and having an outright evil character as the ruler of good ones that may be forced to comit atrocities for her would make for a perfect game of thrones situation.

I was thinking that for the initial run- the first season, so to speak -only the kingdoms locked here would be available. But it that run was a success, and depending on which nations rose and fell during it, we could expand the scope to include other Disney Kingdoms. From official princess ones like Tiana, Mulan and Moana, to maybe even honorary ones and beyond. Hell, maybe a spinoff that loses the princess role entirely!

Although at this stage, unless somebody provides definite interest soon, I might have to rethink the whole thing now. Maybe come up with some kind of stripped-down version without the harder game elements. The main reason I bunged all that in is that the original GOT game, on the BZPower forums, had evolved to include dice rolls and stats to avoid characters being killed off without hope of defending themselves. I'd hoped to go with that version because a game that lasted only ten weeks by design would be easier to manage alongside the other RP I'm running.

So my sign-up post would n3eed to clarify who're my rulers, princesses, commanders, etc. right?

It looks like the GM wants at least three people per kingdom.

"Anyone interested in taking part in this game, please mention which one you'd be most interested in playing, or at least seeing brought to life in this mess of a setting. If we get three votes to a kingdom, that'll be just enough players to run it and it'll thence be unlocked".

For Fidelwald, Home of Snow White, I would imagine the Magic Mirror, the Huntsman, and the Dwarves being viable additional characters.

Hmm, I mean I'm not even sure what character I'd play or what I'd be able to play. For instance, are the listed kingdoms unlocked when we claim a character? Are the princesses themselves on or off the table at the moment? Etcetera. For instance, I was considering playing Rapunzel but have no clue if that's even a possibility atm.

Why do you want the kindgdoms you set specifically for the first season? I'm not sahying it's wrong is your idea and you're free to do it however you want, but I would like to know if there's a particular reason for it.

no I wasn't talking about the kingdom you chose for yourself I'm talking about the ones you want the others to pick, I have nothing agaisnt them but I don't understand why can't we chose others besides those.

@Chibi-Robo: An interesting character idea, and yes, Forum PMs should be okay.

I'll be honest, I hadn't thought of where Wreck-It Ralph might fit into the world. If it helps, I was planning on mixing non-princessy settings in with the kingdoms already there. For example, one or more kingdoms might have Pinocchio's hometown, or the Hundred Acre woods in it. That could potentially be a reason to have a version of the world in an arcade game be made part of the world here.

@Kiobi 20: Basically, I had a very particular, overly complicated system for sorting out which kingdoms went where, and as a result, a lot of Disney places were spread far and wide across the full continent. The limited scope here was my attempt to have the most popular and/or iconic candidates together on a legible map.

Not sure if this game's gonna pan out, at least in its current state, but I've decided I'm gonna 'unlock' the kingdoms that responders were most interested in. This week, I'm gonna try and post some lore-type fluff to give a better idea of the world I'd originally had in mind, unlocking those kingdoms as I go.
