On the Sandbox namespace and its use in projects

I do think we can omit Sandbox.Appearance Tropes Cleanup from the list, since after the thread it was originally created for was closed, I think Macron's mostly been using it as a to-do list for taking the thread's unfinished business to TRS.

Edit: I think there's also a sandbox for Badass Tropes, but I don't know if anyone is using it these days. considering the only Badass Tropes that were brought to TRS I can think of were also appearance tropes (Badass Mustache and Badass Beard).

FWIW that list is why I'm eventually planning on doing a Hunk wick check—saw it there and decided I might eventually do it.

EDIT: The latter is one reason why I'm eventually also planning a group wick check on Badass Adorable.

  • Forum track lists
  • Pantheon Contributors

TBF I kinda indifferent. If there are restrictions and are official, we can move pages that don't fit to somewhere else if we explain the "Tropers/ subpages" part.

Still, it doesn't really prevent the index idea, which may be relatively easy to do. Also throwing in Scanlation Sites and Pinball Cleanup.

I originally planned to use Sandbox.Gaston Rabbit for a wick check for Dumb Dodo Bird (since Septimus said back in 2017 that the "a dodo appears" aspect was TRS material because it was there from the beginning) before I lost interest, and it ended up being unnecessary either way when someone else did a different wick check last year and removed the Chairs aspect from the trope (and renamed it to Doofy Dodo).

Right now I have a copy of my Content Violations Discussion herald PM stored in case I need to make any tweaks to it later on, but my first completed wick check (for Murphy's Law) was done with its own sandbox instead of a subpage of my user page. I'm not sure what most Sandbox/ subpages for Tropers/ pages are used for, though.

Ok, probably a hot button thing to bring up but, I've seen the namespace store just rando info and Just for Fun stuff too. Not projects, just...stuff.

Larkmarn has their own sandbox (which I'll just admit, I and a lot of other Tropers have contributed to a lot) and it's basically tracking Web Video creators' political beliefs.

This one doesn't seem to be a project at all.

I think it's long been accepted that any sandbox page that shares a name with a troper is for that troper's use for whatever they want.

Lark's stated they basically created it to track political and economical beliefs of YouTubers they follow(ed) to potentially inform future viewers. But they also just let basically anyone edit it.

Though with the statement that Tropers can do whatever they want a sandbox that shares that name, I guess it's alright to keep.

Personal sandboxes are pretty much notepads anyone can see. I could advocate that all sandboxes should be relevant to the wiki development, but this would surely cause some outrage.

I partly assume Lark's sandbox works to avoid ROCEJ for some tropers to not cause any agenda based editing for some Web Video pages. "Oh, this creator has a political belief/style I disagree with? Guess I won't edit it anymore to not cause ROCEJ"

Btw, responding to the topic at hand. Guess I'm fine with this namespace just being used for projects in general, though usually temporary. Wick Checks usually don't last after TRS and my Web Original Subpage purging project will end eventually.
