Cleanup: Moments Images Thread (New crowner - May 7 2024):

Heartwarming Moments, Funny Moments, Moment of Awesome, Awesome Music, Tear Jerker, and Nightmare Fuel subpages tend to attract low-quality and unillustrative images that don't evoke the emotions they should, even if the scenes are examples in context. While it is very easy to pull them, the Image Pickin' forum has trouble finding replacements most of the time, leaving most of these threads to close due to inactivity and take up room while doing so.

In order to free up slots, this thread is designed to handle moments subpages with a single bad image.

This thread is not for:

• Start a thread in the following cases
  • Removing an image because you already have an alternative suggestion on hand
  • Moments page images that are duplicated somewhere else
  • Moments pages with multiple images
  • Pages that are on Image Pickin' Special Cases (assuming their status allows it)
• Images that you personally don't find funny/sad/heartwarming/awesome/scary, or can't fully glean the context of, but still have some visual element of the Moment they're supposed to evoke (for example, a messy explosion might still be worth keeping on an Awesome/ page even if you don't understand what's exploding, because of Stuff Blowing Up). Remember that these are YMMV items.
• If the only problem is that it's low-quality, try the quality upgrade thread first.
• If the problem is that the on-page examples are bad, please see the Moments cleanup thread and the specific Nightmare Fuel cleanup thread.

How it works

1. First, have you Failed a Spot Check? Check the page source: maybe a previous thread has explained the reasoning for why it's on the page. You can also go to the Ask for Explanations thread for other opinions.
2. Link the page with the image you want examined. Please explain why you think it is a bad image (e.g. JAFAAC, "more funny than scary"). Posts without such reasoning will not be entertained. (You can use the Image Pickin' thread guidelines for reasoning help.) If suggesting multiple pages in a single post, please put them in a bulleted list to ensure that each entry can stand on its own and that they won't be missed when the crowner is made.
3. Similar to the Image Suggestion thread, a crowner will be run containing the proposed pulls. Each crowner will run about 15 items at a time and last for 5 days. Please do not add items to a crowner once it's running.
   • After 24 hours, anything with 10 or up votes will be pulled.
   • After 3 days, anything with 8 or up votes will be pulled.
   • After 5 days, anything with a positive ratio of at least 2:1 will be pulled.
4. Pulled images will be tagged as such:

This does not count towards their thread count.

If you think of a replacement image after an image has been pulled, you can use the Image Suggestion thread or start a new thread for a replacement.

Okay, the OP's out of the way. Pay attention to what shouldn't go in here. Also, those numbers are based on Suggestion crowner and superconsensus rules. This initiative's still in "beta", so to speak, so we can always adjust depending on how much participation this gets during the runs.

What’s the limit on pages we can put up per post?

To start, Awesome.Thomas And Friends, without the caption, just looks like two engines.

I want to pull NightmareFuel.Sandra And Woo. Shows a scared character, not necessarily something scary.

And NightmareFuel.Webcomics. Too dark to see a thing and probably duplicates the NightmareFuel.Homestuck which is at least decent.

I don't think we should institute a post-limit; it should just be a politeness thing to, like, not put 10 images at once.

Amended the OP to note that duplicate images (eg. the recent Encanto NF/Memes one) should get their own threads as well, so people can debate which one it better fits.

It did remind me to put in anoter note for low-quality pics — see if the Artifacts R' Us thread can do something about it first, haha.

The opening paragraph should also mention Tear Jerker pages are valid here too.

Also, is NightmareFuel.The Walking Dead Telltale too subtle?

The opening post should also link to the Nightmare Fuel cleanup thread, since that's separate from the general moments cleanup.

The very first line of the moments cleanup thread actually already links to it, but I guess it can't hurt.

Going to put in pull votes for Awesome Thomas, NF Sandra and Woo, and NF Walking Dead Telltale.

There's been concerns about the James Bond NF pics, and yeah, almost all of them really suck. (The Man with the Golden Gun was taken care of last month, and A View to a Kill is being looked at in its own thread).

I know I made a thread for Thunderball, but since we're doing this here why don't we start at the top with Dr. No. It's just... a spider.

As someone with arachnophobia that is very terrifying, but yeah it's just a spider. Dude's facial expression doesn't even look that surprised.

Heartwarming.Turning Red hasn’t been released yet, so its pic needs to be removed.

Think we have enough stuff yet for our first crowner? I'd like to add Tear Jerker Iron Fist (2017), seems like it's missing too much context to truly be sad on its own.

So far we have Awesome.Thomas And Friends, NightmareFuel.Sandra And Woo, NightmareFuel.The Walking Dead Telltale, NightmareFuel.Dr No, and TearJerker.Iron Fist 2017, plus Heartwarming.Turning Red if that isn't grounds for an insta-pull.

I feel like NightmareFuel.Deadpool 2 is too dark. Even with the caption I didn't get it at first.

It's not too dark for me, but it is quite incomprehensible.

As I said in the OP, I want to aim for a suggestion thread-style 15ish per crowner. If we don't get as many problematic pics in the timeframe, then that can be adjusted. It's only been a day anyway.

Awesome.The Loud House Season 1 is a meta awesome moment (as it was progress for LGBT rep in animation). It depicts Clyde, his dads, and nothing more.

I agree with Synchronicity, I don't think it's too dark but I can't tell what's happening. Awesome.Deadpool 2 is also not great (hard to tell what's going on, kinda looks more funny than Awesome).

I'd say pull; needs too much context (external context at that) to work on its own.

I kept trying to make a thread for NightmareFuel.Babylon Five but kept misspelling it; I'd like to bring it back up for consideration because it just looks like a big shadow (and nothing like a spider) out of context.

Heartwarming.Dragon Ball Super Future Trunks Arc looks more like Awesome to me. Don’t see what’s HW about it.

• Funny.Dune 2021 isn't from the film itself, it's an edited version of the poster that went around as a meme. It would make a good illustration for a Memes.Dune 2021 page if one existed.
• NightmareFuel.Dune 2021. In context they're implied to be humans twisted into spiders through experimentation. Out of context — just looks like a spider.

Well, I think there are enough entries to create a memes page for Dune. Can I create it?
