I, too, am percolating a plan to play as a Spider-Man baddie. I'm running with the assumption that I'd be able to play his minions, or at the very least share them with the GM. But in any case, I probably won't be starting with minions, and play it as a rise-to-power deal if I can.

Casting my vote for Noir as well, since I'm not so sure "My coworkers tried to murder me, turning me into a vampire who has to drain other people's life force in order to survive" would fly very well in a lighthearted setting.

Given that my prospective power will be a dangerous crime boss...with a goofy costume and gimmicky weaponry, he'd probably be best suited to either Noir or Saturday Morning.

Update: Although I don't know if I'll be able to devote enough time to this RP if the pace is too fast for me, I suppose I can always drop and hand control of Martin over to the GM if necessary. I've already worked out some character connections with Liz. If anyone else has any suggestions or ideas, especially for ways our characters could be connected, I'm all ears! For example, as I recall, Mr. Negative was part of the origin of Anti-Venom in the comics, so perhaps he could be somehow involved in the symbiote splitting and creating She-Venom from Venom, or vice-versa. That said, I'm tentatively done with a character sheet. Just waiting to hear what FL has to say about what all we've said so far.

Not sure how my character selection of either Dr Strange or Doctor Fate would fit the Noir theme. I’ll sit it out and observe like Uatu the Watcher.

I dunno, an occult/magical hero like Strange or Fate seems to me like he could fit perfectly well with a noir setting, but maybe I'm just too used to my wizards being hardboiled, haha!

Trying to post at least once a day here and it looks like I'm cutting it close. To answer some questions...

@Zodan - yeah Access is allowed. I'd say no to Amalgam tentatively just because it could lead to complications with players that want to play as the non-combined character. For example, what if someone wants to play as Batman and someone is already playing as Dark Claw. It is a sketchy issue and I'm certainly willing to review a character sheet. Maybe as an AU type character though?

@darksidevoid - yes, you'd have control over minions. However, there'd be some limits. If you're Riddler and order your thugs to rob a bank and the Hulk shows up? Even if you gave them orders to fight off anyone interfering, the GM would probably write that they run screaming. However, if you roleplay some scenarios that build up your minions' loyalty and powers, that would be taken into account too. But yeah, for the most part, if you have mininos you can send them on tasks and such.

@Enirboreh - It's an alternate universe so feel free to make her the original if you want, especially if you're first to sign up. Might be fun to see what Eddie might look like if he's the second.

@darksidevoid re: Mr. Negative - Fair enough - I can understand it being hard to sign up when a theme hasn't been locked down yet. Let's go with Noir for now since it seems to have the most votes. It's just a setting flavor for now so for anyone looking to play as Dr. Strange or Dr. Fate or other non-noir characters, don't fret. Noir might be the flavor of the city but there's still plenty of chance for mysticism (Constantine always had a bit of noir flavor) and it could be amusing to have a non-noir character in a noir world (Howard the Duck comes to mind)

Hey, I'd say you're doing fine in keeping an eye on this thread! Just been a sudden burst of interest, that's all! Anyway, now that we're settled on that much, here's my basic sheet (I kinda cheated in that I had already written one for a different RP in the past, heh). I'm open to changes and anyone's suggestions, of course. I'm not really enough of a comics buff, and also don't know enough about the shared universe yet, to say what connections Mister Negative might have with DC characters. Hopefully plenty more people will express interest soon and try signing up as some DC as opposed to Marvel characters, so that the representation isn't as one-sided as it is at this point.

  •    Name:    Martin Li, A.K.A.    Mister Negative
  •    Age:    Late 30s
  •    Sex/Gender:    Male
  •    Personality:    Martin Li is a complex man. Although he genuinely loves others and enjoys helping them through his series of homeless shelters, that merely represents the best part of himself. His darker half, what he would call his "Demon", is a ruthless crime lord who will stop at nothing to conquer the city's underworld and fulfill his intense vendetta against Norman Osborn. It is no surprise that powerful negative emotions lurk beneath the surface of his psyche, given that his powers themselves are partially based on and enhanced by said negativity.
  •    Equipment:    Nothing that he always carries with him, though he has access to the full arsenal of his Demons gang.
  •    Assets:    Martin owns a number of properties throughout the city, which he uses to launder money and smuggle both goods and people. His F.E.A.S.T. homeless shelters around the city, however, are all completely legitimate. He also has an official personal fortune in the tens of millions, plus the off-the-books resources of his gang.
    •    Inner Demons:    Not actual demons, but Martin Li's small army of negative-energy enhanced men. They typically wear black business suits and black pants along with Chinese demon masks, which they seem to have an infinite number of. They have access to a large (but not infinite) arsenal that includes numerous automatic and semi-automatic firearms, frag and concussion grenades, explosives such as C-4 and Semtex, and rocket launchers, as well as more traditional weapons such as whips and swords. They also seem to have an endless supply of trucks disguised as shipping vehicles and black cars. The Inner Demons come in several varieties:
      •    Demon Swordsmen:    Mr. Negative's uppermost and most skilled lieutenants, of which he has only a handful. They are fast enough to be capable of deflecting semiautomatic gunfire with their blades, but cannot deflect automatic fire. They can charge their blades with negative energy and release it in an arc-shaped swordbeam.
      •    Demon Whips:    Mr. Negative's sub-lieutenants, skilled with dual-wielding whips. Capable of whipping nearby airborne enemies down to the ground, and can project energy blasts from their whips after charging them.
      •    Demon Heavies:    The physically strongest type of Demon and able to take the most hits among their brethren, but have no special equipment and fight with their hands. They can hit pretty hard (though not as hard as Mr. Negative himself), and can leap up and smash into the ground to release negative energy in an about 3-foot circle around themselves. They can also get pretty fast if they have the time and space to build up speed, but because of their own weight and momentum, they can't turn while charging forward.
      •    Demon Shields:    These ones carry large, circular metal shields that can cover most of one side of their bodies, and are usually the ones carrying the grenades. Their shields are extra-durable thanks to being charged with negative energy, and they can release a small, one-way wave of negative energy along the ground by slamming their shield into it.
      •    Demon Gunners and Bazookamen:    Exactly what they sound like. No special abilities other than being able to add some negative energy to their munitions that causes them to do some extra damage to things they hit.
  •    Powers/Abilities:
    •    Martial Arts:    Martin is a skilled martial artist, and in particular is skilled with the sword as well as hand-to-hand combat.
    •    Negative and Positive Energy Manipulation:    Martin manifests and manipulates the energy of positivity and negativity, which appears as a black-and white aura of power. When fully embracing his power, his entire body, including clothes, turns photonegative. Martin can utilize his energy to enhance his strength (to the point of being able to lift 10 tons), durability (to the point of being able to withstand 10 tons of force), and speed in short bursts (to the point that he becomes a white-and-black streak to regular human eyes), as well as to levitate, and he can project destructive blasts of negative energy from his hands. If he is ever running low on energy, he can absorb more back out of a minion who he has affected with his Negative Touch. At its greatest extent, he can project his negativity outward into the surrounding area, turning it photonegative, after which he can summon numerous yet not-very-durable, human-shaped constructs to fight for him, as well as the upper body of a several-meters-tall, demonic being which is intangible to him but tangible to others.
    •    Negative Touch:    Although it can be resisted by people of sufficiently strong will or psyche, Martin can corrupt individuals whom he touches with his hand while in his photonegative state. Depending on the individual in question, the pushback when resisting his corruption may result in a cool battle in the center of the mind that happens within the real-time-span of a few seconds. Being successfully corrupted brings forth the person's most negative traits while also putting them in the thrall of Martin, who they will obey unquestionably, even to the death. That said, corrupted individuals are still capable of acting on their own and with independent thought. Individuals corrupted in this way gain enhanced strength, durability, and speed, and anything they use as a weapon (swords, whips, grenades, firearms, etc.) has an extra kick of destructive black-and-white energy added in attacks. They can also project negative energy blasts from their weapons (swordbeams, etc.). The effect of Negative Touch fades when an individual is knocked unconscious. Naturally, anyone else's characters who are corrupted in this way will remain under their respective player or GM's control.
    •    Positive Touch:    On the other hand, Martin can also manipulate positive energy to heal people or improve their mood (though again, the strong-willed may notice the outside influence on their mental state and reject it). He does not need to turn photonegative in order to use this particular power, but does need to touch the individual in question with his hand.
  •    Appearance:    As Martin Li; As Mister Negative
  •    Backstory:    By his own telling, Martin Li's parents abandoned him while he was young, leaving him to fend for himself in the cold, unforgiving world. At around this same time, his powers to manipulate positive and negative energy first awakened. After clawing his way through college with a degree in Art History, he left for China, where he made his fortune (and founded a highly successful and dangerous gang). Coming back to the US and settling back in New York City, Martin founded a series of homeless shelters called F.E.A.S.T. (Food, Emergency Aid, Shelter, and Training), which have been highly successful in helping the downtrodden people of Gotham get back on their feet. He picked up a vendetta against Norman Osborn somewhere along the way, however, and lately has been thinking about discarding his double life and fully embracing his "Demon" side for the sake of bringing Norman to heel and making his hated enemy suffer for the crimes of the past...

Note: This is the sheet with minimal alterations; it is able to be changed if we decide to incorporate a different backstory or other details/connections with other characters.

  • Name: Anne Weying, AKA She-Venom/Lady Venom
  • Age: 28
  • Sex/Gender: Female
  • Personality: Without the suit, Anne is a gentle, empathetic sort with a particular steel core beneath her outwardly sensitive appearance, with an unflinching determination and a hardened sense of right and wrong. With the suit, however, these traits become warped and corrupted almost beyond recognition, and the combined form of She-Venom is borderline feral and vengeful in nature. Though she inwardly desires revenge against Spider-Man just as much as the symbiote she's partnered with, she's much more conflicted over the thought of actually carrying out violence upon him due to believing that he's ultimately trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, her addiction to the powers and chemicals the suit feeds into her is overwhelming, and as such battling against it is an almost fruitless endeavour for her will to overcome. Perhaps in time her sense of morality will overpower Venom's influence, but for now Anne is almost entirely immersed in the suit's bloodlust and sadistic tendencies. Thankfully, she still retains at least some restraint in regards to innocent bystanders, though she struggles in controlling herself whilst fighting her enemies.
  • Equipment: Anne's possessions are light, having only her handbag, purse, car keys, credit card, and other such items on her person (usually kept in the suit along with her street clothes whenever she's wearing it). She also owns a canister of pepper spray, along with a taser in case she needs it.
  • Assets: None of note barring her apartment.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Wall-Crawling: Using a mixture of sharp claws and molecular fusion, She-Venom is able to stick to almost any sheer surface as easily as she can stand on the ground. She is capable of running up walls without losing her balance so long as she has enough momentum, and she can even stick objects (or people) to her back in order to carry them easier. Anne cannot wall-crawl without the suit at least covering her hands and feet, so weakening the symbiote while she's in a vulnerable position on a wall is a surefire way to make her fall off.
    • Shapeshifting: While wearing the symbiote, Anne is capable of changing her appearance to either give herself a new outfit, hairstyle, or (with enough concentration) even a brand new face. As She-Venom, she primarily uses this power to generate ‘webbing’ which she can use to ensnare her opponents with, or alternatively swing from vantage points in order to quickly get around. She is also able to bulk up her form by concentrating the symbiotes' mass into her muscles in order to reach her maximum strength of lifting 70 tons, but she sacrifices manoeuvrability while she's in this hulking form. She-Venom may also sprout tendrils from any part of her body, again at the cost of mass elsewhere, and the symbiotes' shapeshifting overall even affects its host to an extent while it occurs. Finally, by shifting the colouration of the suit to match her environment, She-Venom can effectively camoflauge herself so long as she remains relatively still.
    • Superhuman Strength/Speed: With the suit empowering her, She-Venom is able to lift up to 30 tons normally, and strike with a force easily capable of smashing through concrete and puncturing thick metal. With the strength in her legs she is able to leap 30 metres in height, as well as outpace the average car at maximum sprint. As aforementioned, She-Venom can increase her strength using her shapeshifting by concentrating more of the Symbiote into her muscle mass, however her speed decreases significantly as a result.
    • Superhuman Durability/Healing Factor: Though Anne herself is as vulnerable as any other human when uncovered, the symbiote is able to absorb small-arms fire and withstand shockwaves enough to match blows with other similar powerhouses equivalent to itself (though blades still tend to pierce her). When Anne does get injured, however (within or without the suit) Venom can quickly work to mend her body, and is able to rapidly regenerate even lost limbs and fix snapped bones in a matter of moments. Most diseases can be flushed from Anne's system thanks to the symbiotes' ferocity, but some severe tropical illnesses or engineered viruses can render the suit helpless in aiding her. Unwittingly, the suit's addictive chemicals also are negatively affecting Anne's physical health—when separated from it, her immune system seems compromised and her natural healing capabilities stunted thanks to her reliance on the symbiote. The symbiote also cannot effectively heal Anne if it is weakened to the point of being immobilized.
    • Supernatural Nullification: Select supernatural phenomena or abilities seem unable to affect the Venom symbiote, such as Ghost Rider's Penance Stare and Spider-Man's own extrasensory warning sense. This also means that Venom cannot replicate the Spider-Sense as a result of this, meaning it has to be reliant on its own reflexes and healing factor to survive battles.
    • Notable Vulnerabilities: The symbiote is notably weak to fire and extreme cold, as well as being easily disoriented by loud sounds or intense vibrations to the point of even fleeing from its host to get away from the source. The suit's ferocity and corrupting influence also makes it bestial and reckless in combat, sacrificing its host's potentially tactical reasoning in favour of their bloodlust. The symbiote itself is also a double-edged sword, as its addictive tendencies mean that its host's body becomes overly reliant on it given enough time. If they are forcibly separated, they may both be weakened to an extent that can only be healed by rejoining them again.
  • Appearance: [1]. Stands at around 5'9"-6'2" (as Anne and She-Venom respectively).
  • Backstory:
    • Originally a kind, empathetic woman once married to Eddie Brock Jr, Anne's deep connection with her husband caused her to intensely sympathise with his plights, and even after their relationship began to fall apart she did her best to remain a solid rock in her friend's life. With Eddie's obsession over obtaining a successful journalistic career through several newspaper jobs, Anne was devastated to learn of his thorough disgrace after Eddie exposed a man he believed to be the serial killer Sin-Eater to the general public, only to realise that Spider-Man had in fact caught the real perpetrator in the meantime. As Eddie began to spiral into increasingly hateful feelings over Spider-Man and an intense depression, Anne ended up in the church that Eddie was originally fated to be in; praying for his mental stability and begging for help in recovering his reputation. Unbeknownst to her, Eddie had gone elsewhere to lament at the same time, and a particular friendly neighbourhood superhero was in the middle of ridding himself of an alien parasite.
    • Anne's grief over Eddie and her boiling indignation against Spider-Man's unintentional destruction of his career evidently attracted the desperate symbiote to her, and after it was fully separated from the host that'd rejected it the parasite immediately moved on to the unsuspecting Anne. Quickly overwhelming her and restraining her enough to gain control of her body, the symbiote forcefully escorted her shocked self to the top of a building so that both she and it could rest without her attracting attention. Only after Anne had calmed did the creature introduce itself, offering to empower her and strengthen her resolve in exchange for its own personal revenge on Spider-Man. Mulling over this for a long while, she hesitantly agreed with it, but with her given permission she only obligated the symbiote to flood her mind with addicting chemicals in order to cement Anne's decision for her.
    • Ever since this manipulative communion, Anne has been reborn as She-Venom, though she has also become partial to the moniker of Lady or Lady Venom. Together, She-Venom has been rampaging throughout the city against heroes and villains alike on her quest to hunt Spider-Man and make him pay for what he did to the symbiote and Eddie both. She-Venom has already garnered a reputation for her brutality through word-of-mouth, however there is some confusion regarding her occasional mercy and even kind gestures towards innocents caught in the crossfire of her vengeful crusade. However, ever since Eddie tragically took his own life not long into She-Venom's ruthless campaign (in part due to Anne's symptoms of addiction) her mercy has somewhat dwindled and been replaced by more of a confused pain and a desire to lash out at others.

@darksidevoid - define a bit more what "superhuman levels" you're thinking of his enhanced state being. Also, glad you clarified that someone with sufficiently strong wills could resist Mr. Negative as it makes things a bit more balanced for players. Since we're doing Noir, I'm thinking of Gotham City/New York being interchangeable, making it easier for new characters to hop in. So the Statue of Liberty exists in this city but it also has GCPD's police blimps. Also, I see you want him to have a vendetta against someone. What about my character below? Carmine Falcone would be pretty opposed to Mr. Negative taking away money from his own operation, especially given he's a superpower. Also at the start of the RP, I intend to have Falcone be the biggest crime force in town. It's up to the player characters to take him down and dismantle his operation (and maybe grow their own) if they want that to change. Other than that though, I'd say he looks good. Make that one small change to his superhuman poewr levels and I'd say accepted

@Enirboreh - She Venom looks good. Accepted.

@Booky - Both can have a place in this RP!

Also I figure I'll put up a signup for the first arc villain your characters will face too. Also, I realize I neglected to put an "Appearance" section in the signup template I made. I added it to the initial post and put one on this profile. A picture or a description is fine for the appearance section.

  • Name - Carmine Falcone
  • Age - 58
  • Sex/Gender - Male
  • Personality - Brash, calculating, and vicious when he needs to be, Carmine Falcone is very much what one would hope for in a mob boss. He tries to be pragmatic with his crimes as villainy for the sake of villainy rarely is profitable but sometimes his own anger and delusions of grandeur get in the way of that. He does have a love of Gotham City as he was born and raised there but it's not nearly as big as his love of making money is. He believes that organized crime is best when it's actually organized and despises the chaos that superheroes and supervillains brings. He can respect an opponent with moxy or virtue but won't hesitate to use brutal tactics to bring them in line if they threaten his operation.
  • Equipment - Although he's usually not carrying more than a pistol and a dashing three piece suit on him at all times, his large bank account ensures he can buy most anything he requires on a day to day basis. He does own several properties in Gotham City including a casino, a construction company, and a nightclub.
  • Assets - As mentioned above, he owns several properties and is the boss of the biggest crime family in Gotham currently. However, the rise of supers in the city recently has caused him to lose some of that power. All told, his total number of made men and associates loyal to him number in the hundreds and he also has a few judges, politicians, and cops on his payroll too.
  • Powers/Abilities
    • Marksmanship - he favors a shotgun but is familiar with most forms of firearms.
    • Brawling - In his day, he took a few boxing classes and was in more than enough street fights to earn the fear and respect of his men. He may be a bit older now but he can definitely still put up a fight and beat up the average man on the street.
    • Intimidation - he's been a gangster for decades so he's well-versed in torture, extortion and how to get people to do something they don't want to do otherwise.
    • Underworld Operation - he's got criminal contacts out the wazoo and knows how to turn a profit with crime.
  • Appearance - [https://www.deviantart.com/the--jacobian/art/Carmine-Falcone-695850060 Here]
  • Backstory - Born and raised in Gotham City, Carmine Falcone followed in his dad's footsteps and joined La Cosa Nostra aka The Maggia aka The Gotham City mob. He quickly carved out a name for himself for both his ruthlessness and pragmatism. Under his reign, organized crime grew although, in recent years, the larger superhero presence has been impacting Falcone's bottom line. Although he's still the top dog in the city for right now, he's engaged in multiple gang wars with small timers and is constantly scrambling to defend his operations from would-be heroes and villains looking to take a piece of his big pie. Rumor has it that he's taken to putting hits out on any vigilante in the city and has even been contracting superpowered mercenaries to protect his interests...

@FantasyLiver: Alrighty, have made those edits to his powers, edited [CITY NAME TBD] to Gotham and New York, and added an appearance section! Let me know if you think he should be weaker or stronger; I'm not great at judging comic feats/powerlevels.

As for his the target of his vendetta, only reason I put it as [REDACTED] was because I didn't want to spoil Liz's choice of character. If you've played Spidey PS4/PS5, you can probably guess who it is, since Liz and I were planning to hew pretty closely to their relation in that game. There will probably be enough reason for Falcone and Li to come into conflict, what with them being rival gangsters. However, if Liz is amenable, perhaps Falcone could have aided in some way with the human experimentation that gave Li his powers, and therefore Li would have a grudge against him in addition to Liz's character. It was the Maggia who did so (or at least bankrolled it) in the original comics, after all, IIRC.

@Enirboreh: What does Anne do for a living? That may aid in helping people figure out how she could connect to their characters.

This certainly looks interesting, and I may as well counter the lack of DC characters!

  • Name: Jason Todd/The Red Hood
  • Age: 23
  • Sex/Gender: Male
  • Personality: Jason cared for his mentor, Batman, and wanted to live up to his potential, to stop crime and protect Gotham City. However, Jason possessed an explosive temper with numerous incidents of him going too far in his actions as Robin, and with his death and transformation into a ruthless vigilante, that temper is quite untamed now. Brash, sarcastic and ruthless, he's often not afraid of being a smartass. But despite that anger and hatred, Jason feels his method is the only way that could ease the pain of Gotham City's victims and to provide vengeance for those who were hurt, often making sure that the hits he does on criminals won't have any civilian casualty. Additionaly, over the feelings of bitterness over Batman not doing the job killing the Joker, he still misses and loves his 'family'.
  • Equipment:
    • Red Hood Costume: Jason's way of not only keeping his identity hidden, but also serving as body armor. His red mask not only has a interface to let him keep track of many things like his targets, his ammunition, or other things, but also as decent protection against bullets or blunt impact. And if worst comes to worst, he can overload it in order to make it a makeshift explosive. Meanwhile, his chest, which has a red version of the bat symbol on it, is fairly bullet resistant along with giving protection against knifes and other sorts.
    • Grappling Hook
    • Firearms: Jason has multiple firearms stored on his safe house for many situations, varying from pistols, to rifles, to sniper rifles. Though the ones he usually takes out the most are usually a pair of dual pistols.
    • Batarangs
    • Flash Bang Grenades
  • Assets: Jason Todd has multiple safe houses in Gotham which he not only rests, but also stores things he took from the criminals he eliminated, like weapons, tech or so on.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Peak Human Conditioning: Through years of intense and extensive training, special dieting plans, and meditation techniques from Batman plus training after his resurrection, Jason is at the very peak of human potential and perfection. By matching his former mentor in combat he has proven that he is far superior to Olympic-level athletes, just as Batman is. He represents the pinnacle of human physical potential/perfection much like Batman and Nightwing.
    • Martial Artist: Jason Todd is a highly skilled combatant, due to having been rigorously and extensively trained by Batman.
    • Master Marksman: Having been trained by Batman, Jason has perfect aim when using batarangs and later, firearms.
    • Stealth Expert: As expected as someone who was trained by Batman, Jason Todd is fairly experienced with infiltration, espionage and just straight up getting behind someone.
  • Appearance:"Can't fight crime without cracking a few skulls."
  • Backstory: Throughout his many years of fighting crime in Gotham City and beyond, Batman has amassed a large gallery of rogues who have dedicated their lives not just to wreaking havoc wherever they pleased, but to breaking the man behind the cowl in retaliation for his interference in their plans. Such was the case with the Red Hood, a mysterious vigilante that emerged on the streets one day, seemingly copying the Caped Crusader's own methods in fighting crime, but in a much more lethal manner that defied his own aversion to killing. Underneath the mask was a man who had once given his all to aid Batman in the past, and returned as an agent of vengeance who wanted nothing more than to prove that his methods were useless: Jason Peter Todd, the second Robin.

Taken in by Batman when he was just a orphan, the young Jason Todd thought he had it all...until one fateful day, he was captured, tortured, and then killed by one of the most known supervillains of Gotham City, The Joker. Most would wonder what could be the cause of his sudden ressurection despite the horrible fate he had, but clues might link it to the shadowy group known as the League of Assassins and it's Lazarus Pit. Either way, Jason Todd did not took a liking to the fact his mentor and father had done nothing to punish the Joker for his horrible crimes and the murder of his own son, and seemingly has a taken a more brutal crusade against the crime circle of Gotham City. Yet, despite his vengeful crusade, Jason Todd seems to geniunely hold on to the few morals he has, as if he feels what he is doing is the only way the innocent will not suffer as he had suffered.

  • Name: Norman Osborn
  • Alter Ego: The Green Goblin
  • Age: Mid 50's
  • Sex/Gender: Male
  • Appearance: From one extreme to another.
  • Personality:
    • Norman is a mild-mannered man, passionate about his work, who tries to put on a confident face for the press and the boardroom. His creative vision and obvious talent for science were what put Oscorp Industries on the map, but now he finds himself belittled and marginalised by the board of directors and having to deal with employees embezzling funds or going over his head. In his rise to the top, he's had to do terrible things- things he'd rather not admit he was responsible for. The one light in his life is his son, but he's never been terribly good at expressing affection towards him.
    • The Goblin, on the other hand, is a different story. He doesn't have to concern himself with pathetic things like love and affection, Osborn's shame and embarrassment have been eliminated, and his intelligence and imagination have been magnified tenfold. He has the means and the will to seize control of the city, and eliminate anyone who tries to drag him down. At the top of the shit-list are weaklings, traitors, and anyone who ever looked at Norman Osborn cockeyed. The city is there to serve him, and if he's going to run this city, then damned if he isn't going to do it in style- whoever says ghosts and ghouls are goofy is a philistine!
  • Equipment: With his creative abilities boosted, the Green Goblin create any number of devices that would boggle the mind of most professional scientists. Even now he's coming up with all sorts of ideas for gadgets, like a bulletproof ghost or a toad that emits sonic bursts (As far as he's concerned, there are no bad ideas). For now, however, his basic arsenal of weaponry has been established.
    • Goblin Armour: Underneath that mass of leather and cloth cobbled together into a DnD cosplay, Goblin wears a layer of wearable structured fabric made up of interlinking octahedron particles, which stiffens on high impact to resist blows. The effect is not unlike wearing a tunic of bulletproof chainmail.
    • Gargoyle Glider:A remote-controlled machine with a drone at the centre, modelled after a grey beast with great sweeping wings, and GG's primary mode of transportation. The platform can support up to 400lb on top of his own body weight, and on top of being nimble in the air, it can fly up to 90mph. Top speed and a full load would exhaust the hydrogen fuel cells after an hour. Electromagnetic clamps hold the Goblin's boots in place. The 'mouth' can extend a sharp point in the shape of a forked tongue for goring opponents. Wireless remote control is possible via a CPU in the head, but manual control is dictated by the weight and posture of the rider.
    • Magic Gloves: GG's gauntlets are interwoven with microcircuit-conducting filaments, which in Plain English, allows him to fire bursts of high-frequency electricity from his fingertips. Sustained bursts would last up to five minutes before running out. The Glider could act as a charge point in a pinch but at the cost of its own power supply. Speaking of which, the gauntlets contain buttons in the side that direct the remote control function of the Glider. They also have cartridges of knockout gas in the wrists, with both at once having enough capacity to put an above-average man to sleep in five seconds and leave him paralysed for about two minutes after he wakes up.
    • Pumpkin Bombs: Goblin's bread and butter- handheld grenades patterned after orange jack-o-lanterns, with the 'stem' being a green dial at the top that sets a bomb to either explode on impact or have a delay of up to fifteen seconds. The bombs are stored in the Glider in high quantities, and have three different variations so far: the Concussive bombs that let off a disorienting flash-bang (or rather flash-scream), the Incendiary bombs that let off enough heat to melt through three inches of steel, and the Smoke bombs which let off obscuring green smog, but could easily contain other kinds of gases.
    • Razor Batarangs: Black shurikens shaped like little bats that can cut through meat like butter. They fold for easy storage and come fitted with microprocessors that home in on a moving target when thrown. Gobby also has a set of silver ones shaped like crescent moons, which do not come with a homing beacon.
  • Assets: Norman is the CEO of Oscorp Industries, a multinational corporation at the forefront of chemical research and electronics manufacturing. Mainly devoted to experimental science and military research, the company has performed experiments into mutant and cross-species genetics unrivalled by its contemporaries, and its medical drone gliders and camouflage devices set the gold standard in the field. Aside from the obvious lucrative wealth the company offers him, Norman has access to an inexhaustible supply of resources and failed experiments that could be fit for 'recycling'. But not to be outdone, the Goblin himself seeks to accrue power and prestige. He's already begun the work of trying to rally street thugs and independent gangs under his control, building a criminal empire on the trade of a new kind of drug...
  • Powers/Abilities: Thanks to an accidental overdose of Globulin Green, Norman now periodically shifts into a state beyond a normal man of his age.
    • Strength: The Goblin is strong enough to lift and throw an average man one-handed. He can lift up to nine tonnes, crush wood, bend metal and punch through glass without injury.
    • Speed and Agility: Goblin's agility, equilibrium and coordination surpass the finest athlete of his time, as does his speed and reflexes. Said coordination makes him into a skilful marksman, rarely missing his throws.
    • Stamina and Durability: Gobby can maintain motion for up to a day without being exhausted. His bodily tissues are fortified, giving him incredible resistance against blunt force trauma, though his flesh can be pierced by blades and bullets. He can hold his own in a superhuman fistfight and recover after falling from several storeys up.
    • Healing Factor: While not the most efficient class of healing in the superhuman field, Gobby's metabolism can quickly and extensively restore tissue damaged by impalement and explosions that would kill a lesser man.
    • Mental Acuity: Norman already possesses an above-average intellect and aptitude for maths and science. When the Green kicks in, that intelligence and creative talent is magnified by ten, allowing him to make great leaps in genetics, engineering and applied chemistry...with only a few little side-effects like loss of empathy and sense of self, and hallucinations that last when the Green wears off.
  • Backstory:
    • Norman Virgil Osborn grew up fascinated by mystic arts and folklore, and how that might translate into science. His father was an inventor who blamed everyone but himself for his failings and took his anger out on his boy. If that man taught Norman anything, it was what being a failure gets you in life. He started putting his all into schoolwork and afterschool jobs, going on to study chemistry and electrical engineering in Empire State along with a number of business administration courses- anything to give his life security, and set the stage for bigger and better acquisitions. But that all changed when he met Emily Lyman, his college sweetheart. Suddenly, his lifelong quest for wealth and power wasn't just for himself, but for a future for the two of them...especially when he found out about the genetic disease, Retroviral Hyperplasia, that put a timer on her lifespan.
    • After college, Norman partnered up with a good friend in science and began his first business venture in Double-O Chemicals. While he put the bulk of the financing, it never seemed to be enough, and for all his partner's talk of helping the people, they were getting no closer to finding a cure for Emily's sickness. In his mid-twenties, Norman promised his soul to the devil- he got in bed with the Maggia, found himself partnering with unscrupulous chemists working on designer drugs, and eventually got involved in an incident that would haunt his soul, and drive his partner away for good. Still, the collaboration paid dividends in profit and status, and let him finally become sole CEO of what was now Oscorp Industries. Anything else, anything that Emily could never know about, was eschewed. Emily herself brushed off his attempts at finding a cure, insisting that what mattered was the time they spent together. And so they did, getting married and having a son together before finally Emily was lost to Norman forever.
    • From that point on, Norman buried himself deep in his work, determined to find a cure for that same disease, and ensure that his son Harry had something better to inherit. In the midst of this, he found himself with less time to actually spend with his son, and would often forget to provide any words of encouragement for him. By and by, Norman's passion project fell by the wayside, as the constant workload and contracts to be fulfilled threatened to overwhelm him. One particularly pertinent issue was the matter of a defence contract- the military wanted to recreate the one-time success of the Super Soldier program, and was testing the viability of either performance-enhancing drugs or exoskeletal armour. Using some notes of a formula from his old professor Mendel Stromm, Norman hoped to hit two birds with one stone.
    • One night, Norman was burning the midnight oil alone, slaving over vials of dangerous chemicals to perfect his cure-all miracle drug. Little did he know that a competitor had hired a Russian agent to impersonate him and sabotage Oscorp from the inside. Just when Norman was at a crucial stage, the spy ambushed him and the two fought for their lives. Norman managed to rip off the man's plastic mask, before being knocked into the apparatus and setting off a massive explosion. The spy escaped into the night, while Osborn was pinned down in a closed space, choking on anomalous green gas. Lying there with his head spinning, Osborn noticed the mask left behind, as the chemicals made it turn discoloured and droopy. He didn't know what it was, but seeing it there, seeing his own face turn so strange and gobliny, he had to laugh, it was just so funny, wasn't it funny, you had to laugh, and laugh, and laugh and laugh and laugh so funny funny funny FUNNY
    • When Norman woke up, with a taste in his mouth and an ache in his head, he found himself in his office, sprawled on the desk half-naked, and surrounded by pages and pages of scribblings, diagrams, formulas, blueprint designs and time-cube-style gibberish. Over in the corner of the room, contained in a glass container the size of his arm, was a swirling mass of that same green gas, and beside it was the exact formula for its chemical compound, carved into a wooden toy duck. This was the first time that Norman had experienced a proper blackout hangover...but it would hardly be the last.

@Darkomega: I'll pose the same question to you I did to Enir: What does Jason do for a living? Does he vigilante full-time and just have some secret Wayne investment fund he pulls money from, or is he employed somewhere? Does he fund himself by stealing money from criminals (which may already be stolen)? Or! Or, is he homeless and living on the street? If he is, he could be living at one of Martin's F.E.A.S.T. shelters.

Edit: Oh, actually, I guess you did say he rests in his safehouses, so that last option is unnecessary far as shelter goes. Still, a man's gotta eat somehow.

@darksidevoid: Ah! To answer that, I don't see Jason as the type to even try part-time jobbing, especially with his revival. So yeah, he's straight up a full-time vigilante. A few of his funding is some money he had saved back when he was alive and he sneakily took from Wayne Enterprises, but otherwise, he mainly makes do from stealing it from criminals he takes down.

His version in Under The Red Hood does in order to control crime, but most of the traits and elements of this Red Hood are from Arkham Knight, so he's mostly ruthless vigilante for now.

Wait, what does this mean for the Militia in that game? Do they exist yet, or not?

Because as I understand it, he was Red Hood after Batman beat him while he was the Knight.

Spelunking through a Halo Ring is something else...

I'm not taking all the elements of the game, so they're not a thing yet, and though this Jason is bitter with Batman, he's not 'let a terrorist atttack happen in Gotham' bitter

Though I did heard there's a Arkham Knight in the comics who's the daughter of one of the descendants of the founder of Arkham Asylum, so if they ever need to pop out, she could be a thing!

@darksidevoid - I mean, I don't want to put too much of a power limit on people in case that stops them from playing as their favorite character but it's nice to have some concrete power definitions so it doesn't devolve into "my guy beats you in arm wrestling/no MY guy beats you in arm wrestling" arguments. Accepted.

Also, it's an intriguing proposition having Falcone have a hand in Li's creation. I always found the difference between Marvel's the Maggia and DC's more realistic mob families fascinating. With Falcone, I'm trying to do something a little transitionary to show how the city's criminal underworld is evolving from abhorring supervillains to embracing them out of necessity. So sure, let's say Falcone's crime family bankrolled Li's creation but, as of right now, the extent of Falcone's involvement in that particular operation is currently unknown to Li, though it could be found out with some investigation.

@darkomega245 - was wondering when another Batman character would show up. Before I get into Jason Todd, I've been mulling over an idea that I want to make concrete. At the start of the RP, Batman as a character will have been missing in action for some time. In fact, his disappearance coincides with the sudden surge in superpowered activitiy in the city. You as Jason Todd would be aware he disappeared though you wouldn't know why or how. This opens up a potential story idea I had although, if anyone wants to play as Batman, I'm welcome to accepting signups. But at the start, he's been missing awhile and in his absence, numerous forces are battling it out to either fill in the crimefighting void he left or to snatch up some criminal opportunity in his absence.

Also, to save room for other players in the future, let's try and keep references to other villains that Batman/Jason may have fought in the past a bit vague. It's best to assume that Batman and Jason fought crime for a time, probably fought some colorful characters, but the names and nature of those characters is probably best kept as vague as possible (like what you already did with the Lazarus Pit) to save room for someone else who may want to explore those characters later. Obviously though, the Joker exists in some form as your backstory has him being an essential catalyst for Jason's creation.

As for Todd, he looks good. Accepted.

@Liz - Inspired by a recent movie grin? Osborn is accepted.

@G 2 Battle Convoy - Feel free to lift any or no elements of pre-existing works into your character. This Jason Todd may take elements from the Arkham games but isn't the same character.
