Real Name: Kirby Thompson

Superhero Name: Kid Terrific

Age: 16

Appearance: This is he, kinda.Blond and heavily muscled, with calm green eyes and a winning smile. He usually wears a dress shirt, tie, sport coat, and slacks with loafers (having grown up among corporate folks) though he does like bright colors. Also wears a pair of glasses since he’s been told that they will help disguise him. They don’t. Somehow never get destroyed. He also has a few small scars on his face.

Costume:N/A

Personality: Kirby is pretty confident with his powers (with little to no insecurity about his height...that he’d admit to, anyway) and doesn’t like to show them off, but he’s still getting a handle on balancing being a hero and a kid, having grown up working as an “official” hero. He’s an odd mix of naïve and jaded from living at Corp headquarters. Kirby also has a kind nature in regards to animals and other kids, while again being somewhat remote from adults and other costumed/powered people simply from lack of experience with them. He’s usually a kind fellow, but he does like a good scrap. And he does enjoy playing “hide-and-seek” with the bad guys, once almost leading a villain to a paranoid breakdown. He has an odd sense of humor, much given to talking to himself thanks to long nights on patrol with only someone backing him up over a communicator, and shows flashes of a quirky sense of humor. Underneath it all, though, the boy is just coming to terms with what it means to have powers and what it means to be a hero, and he’s not entirely sure if that’s where his destiny lies, though he’s also eager to keep up his reputation as a well-known hero. And another, deeper part that’s starting to enjoy having powers in a world where not everyone is so lucky…..

Powers: Kid Terrific can grow from his six-inch height to any height up to 6’2. He can maintain his height for extended periods, but it is a strain and he can’t do too much while using this power. He’s also slightly stronger and tougher than a normal human to withstand the exertion of shifting (about twice as strong as an athletic human).

Gear: His main ticket in the door is the TRFX Battlesuit which he pilots into combat. It’s very strong and durable, able to tank a large variety of damages and lift very heavy loads. It also boasts top-flight communications and sensors as well as unjammable wi-fi able to download and transmit information in a twinkling. It even has a little bedroom and treadmill in there, as well as a fridge. He has various other tools tucked away for use by the arms.

AI-ish: The suit does have an onboard system to help him pilot it successfully. He’s not quite sure it’s a sentient A.I…but he’s not sure it isn’t. either. It answers to SUNSTONE or occasionally changes its name for no apparent reason.

Vibration Cannons: These are capable of transmitting anything from an uncomfortable hum to waves that can shake apart buildings and seriously injure people or throw them around (Think Black Canary).

Sprayers: Equipped with mace and fire spray.

“Trick” missiles: These have a variety of tips, but nine out of ten are non-lethal.

Camera & Recon Drones: What it says.

Microphones/Mufflers: He’s equipped with both speakers and special dampeners that allow him to send direct messages to targets or “kill” noises, such as auditory cues or even her approach. This cone of silence can be very distracting. Disruption Burst: This is a concentrated burst of sound, light, and electronic interference that will dazzle and disorient the senses of electronic enemies and most biological foes.

Flight: The suit can take off and fly at a high rate of speed and with great agility, even on autopilot.

Rescue Ropes: In case someone needs a lift. Very hard to break.

It’s pretty expensive to treat anything to withstand the process, but he’s been able to wheedle a skateboard out of the Board for use while he’s not in the suit (It’s equipped with a distress button to summon the suit). His gloves have also been rigged to generate an electrical charge at a touch and be weighted for fighting. He also has a special pistol that fires balls of concentrated acid, since tiny bullets wouldn’t do so much damage. Likewise, he has impact pads all over his body.

Skills: Experience in boxing and a little judo. He’s pretty good about using his size-shifting in a fight but he’s been known to get carried away and just slug it out. Well-versed in keeping his robot up and running but he's no scientist. Voracious reader.

Background: The Intellicon Corporation (best known for creating the Knowza app/search engine and their slogan “We Know What You Want”) jumped into the genetics/powers game about 45 years ago, roughly around the time of the Korean War. At first, there were the obvious military applications, but the then-head of the company, Dr. Erlif Grovmann, tried to keep them from getting too far into bed with the United States government thanks to his own experiences during WW 2 and finding out more about Operation Paperclip (of which he was a beneficiary, though he was not a Nazi). He envisioned a world where superpowers could be used by a select few to help others. He was also not so altruistic to miss the financial possibilities in creating a shot that would, for example, give people a healing factor to shorten their hospital stays. However, he was limited by both the technology of his time and suspicion about most heroes except the Saint (who was likewise suspicious about him).

They started small-developing gradual increases in strength, making alterations to animals such as cows or monkeys. Next came tests on volunteered subjects, members of the military, and prisoners. This was all legal and aboveboard. The results were largely minor or negative. Their biggest success was the hero Crowd, who used his multiple bodies to fight crime until they branched out and took jobs in the corporation where some of them may be seen today-leading to some very confusing times for new hires). While the Saint and other established heroes tried to stop or slow down their work, they had no legal basis for doing so, and even he was forced to step back from his efforts, though he’s never stopped keeping a wary eye on Intellicon one way or another. Their role in the emergence of the vigilante Cardsharp was also questionable, though an investigation turned up no evidence to support his claims.

In the modern-day, they’ve seemed focused on studying the powers themselves and the ways they emerged or are bestowed rather than creating them in others. Several superpowered beings have consulted them for technology or scientific methods to control or even eliminate dangerous abilities, and while they’re not the biggest or most well-known business in the Powered field, they are one of the most well-respected, with a sterling record of ethical testing. The fact that the current President is still Dr. Erlif Grovmann (either thanks to some kind of mind-downloading or a time-widow-the stories are unclear) probably accounts for a large part of this reputation. (In point of fact it’s both: they have a stable feedback loop that enables them to send plans and non-organic material back and forth through the “lifetime” of the corporation, enabling them to research ideas for years and “receive” the solutions in the present day. Don’t think too much about how all of this really works.).

The young man who would one day become the Kid was raised by two former members of the Crowd who work for Intellicom’s Para Science Division. Although the couple went through extensive tests to ensure that their unusual origin wouldn’t have any ill effects on their offspring, nonetheless he was measured to have a high chance for “extraordinary genetic potential”. He was also about six inches tall, but very healthy. Kirby was subjected to a wide variety of tests, but nothing seemed to “catch on”, and his parents were loving but disappointed that their offspring wasn’t to be a new superhero, especially one under the auspices of the Corp.

Then the unexpected but hoped-for occurred: all three of them were overjoyed to learn that the most recent battery of serum samples had had positive reactions to his blood samples, and soon young Thompson showed an ability to make himself grow to different heights, as well as increased physical capabilities. At the same time, Engineering unveiled its latest prototype. Truly self-aware drones were still years away, powered armor smacked too much of the military for the Director, and piloted vehicles still had several kinks to work out. So why not use the young man’s height as an advantage? Soon he was being trained on how to pilot the suit and going out for test flights. Next up were small appearances at product tests. Monitored interventions at disasters and accidents. And finally going out to fight crime! He did well but given the dearth of heroes out in Rhode Island, he hasn’t worked with anyone else apart from The Unknown (and even then he’s not sure he met the real person...but then they ARE The Unknown).

Etc: He suffers from Trypophobia. And lots of people "know" it's him in the suit, but not the way they think.

  • Real Name: Galatea "Gala" Muse
  • Superhero Name: Swarm
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: Red eyes, naturally dark grey hair, sharp features, 5'5''.
  • Costume: Changes regularly, based on her whims.
  • Personality: Gala is even-keeled but ultimately hedonistic, with little time for moral hand-wringing. She lives by the philosophy "more is more" and can quickly become obsessed with a new experience or sensation. However, thanks to her nature as a networked consciousness, she is also fickle and forgetful, and can become bored of things just as quickly as she became obsessed with them. She can be spacey at times, and sometimes seems to know things which she should not realistically have been able to learn.
  • Powers: Shapeshifting - Swarm of Rats. At will, Gala can shift from her humanoid form into a swarm of dozens of rats, which can act in unison or individually.
    • Networked Intelligence - Gala's swarm can split, allowing her consciousness to be in multiple places at once. There are limits to this; smaller groups of rats are more difficult to control and more likely to act on instinct.
    • Hard to Kill - Each rat killed in the swarm equates to an injury while in humanoid form. Similarly, an injured Gala shapeshifts into a smaller swarm. However, if Gala sustains a severe injury in either form, she can instead reform into a younger, smaller, but uninjured version of her humanoid self. She returns to her default age over the course of days or weeks, depending on the severity of the damage.
    • Rats - The swarm of rats can do anything a swarm of rats can do, including a lot of vicious biting, and, if Gala ever gets sick, spreading diseases.
  • Gear: n/a
  • Background:

    • On June 24th, 2011, in the isolated countryside home of widowed retiree and amateur portraitist Yvette Foster, a hole in spacetime came into existence. It was open for only 25 minutes, and went practically unremarked upon by the world as a whole. In the following days, Yvette would speculate in a phonecall to her daughter that her house was haunted, but this was easily brushed off - of greater concern was her mother's fixation on recreating the likeness of the sister she lost as a child, as well as the rat infestation which Yvette had tried and failed for months to get under control. In the following weeks, the "haunting" completely slipped her mind.

    • In May of 2012, Yvette Foster stopped responding to phone calls. Concerned, her daughter asked local authorities to perform a wellness check at the property, warning them to watch out for the now-extensive rat infestation. When they arrived, they discovered three things. Firstly, Yvette Foster was dead in her bedroom, having passed away of natural causes as a half-finished portrait looked on from an easel at the foot of the bed. Secondly, despite the daughter's warnings, there was not a single rat to be found anywhere on the property. And finally, in the barn nearby, officers stumbled upon a little girl, no more than 8 years old, bearing an eerie resemblance to the painting in the bedroom and looking at them calmly with ruby red eyes.

    • The girl, who eventually introduced herself as Galatea Muse, was placed into a group home after authorities failed to identify her next-of-kin or even her origin. There, she became notorious for her tendency to inexplicably escape the facility, only to wander back in several days later like nothing had happened. That, combined with her habit of making odd, off-putting comments, led to her quick transfer to a youth psychiatric facility, where she remained for several years. Then, one day, an agitated fellow resident tried to stab her with a piece of broken glass, and in front of a crowd of staff and residents, her form exploded into a swarm of rats. The rats launched themselves at her would-be attacker and nearly killed him before staff managed to extract him.

    • After the incident, Gala was considered a danger to other residents. On the other hand, what they had attributed to delusion suddenly seemed a lot more plausible with the reveal of her second form. As a compromise, she was enrolled in Saint's Academy in hopes that they could teach her to control her powers (and also get her out of staff's hair).

  • Etc: Her pronouns are she/they - as in, the plural 'they'.

Sorry for the lateness, I had to think of exactly who I wanted to use.

Real Name: Libitina Reap

Superhero Name: Charon

Age: 16

Appearance: Flowing white hair, ashen skin, bright yellow eyes

Costume: Fashioned after her namesake's boatman's uniform, albeit modified to accommodate for her feminine figure.

Personality: As someone who has a connection and fascination with death and spirits, Libitina believes that nothing can ever stay static, and thus she often shifts interests from one thing to the next. While friendly enough to be able to socialize, she can get frustrated by the carelessness of others when they don't adequately monitor their health or well-being, and isn't afraid to read a patient the riot act.

Powers:

Gaze Into the Beyond: With just a look into someone's or something's eyes, Libitina can paralyze her target, grounding them in place.

The Howling Dead: With a sacrifice of blood, Libitina can call forth human skeletons to do her bidding, be it to attack or defend her target of choosing.

Whispers from the Grave: Should Libitina have the time to prep a ritual, she can call forth a shade of someone deceased, and ask them questions or otherwise converse with them until she has to dismiss them back to the other side.

From Death Comes Life: Given her life goal of being a doctor and healer, Libitina can imbue her own energy into her patient, helping to patch up their wounds by mending tissue and replenishing lost blood. Naturally, the worse the wound, the greater toll is taken.

Gear:

Ritual Kit: As her powers require both physical and spiritual components to reach their full potential or work at all, Libitina carries what she needs on her person to get them to work as needed.

First Aid Kit: With her aspiring to be a doctor, it only makes sense she carry such on her person, and thankfully she is fully aware of how to use each item within it.

Oar: While one might think this an unorthodox weapon, it has proven to be an invaluable tool for both combat and utility alike.

Background: As a child of a mortician and a spirit world dweller who took an interest in them, Libitina is keenly aware of the spirits that inhabit the world, and is able to see and hear them go about their business. Growing up exposed to such, and knowing that good people had passed on because they couldn't be treated, led her to gain the urge to become a healer, so that she might help extend people's lives just a little bit longer, or at the very least ease their pain as they passed into the next life. Fortunately for her, both parents hold her and her goals in a positive light, and want nothing more than for Libitina to be the best woman she can be.

Etc: Given that she is only half-human, Libitina has special dietary and energy needs that differ from that of her peers, so don't be surprised if her eating habits are...unique.

Real Name: Lucien Bright

Superhero Name: Brainwave

Age: 16

Appearance: Mr happy-go-lucky. His eyes are reddish-brown, and he's about 6'.

Personality: Lucien is...well, bright, much like his last name. Bubbly and outgoing, he's a good-hearted guy who tries his best to get along with others with his laid-back attitude and friendly demeanour. Not unexpected from somebody with super empathy. Still, Lucien is plagued with the thoughts of using the intimate knowledge he can gain of people for selfish purposes, and he's not above being a manipulator who analyzes relationships between people. Still, he at least tries to not fall prey to this, even if it is a token effort. Lucien wears his heart on his sleeve, showing his emotions for all to see and feel. Though he has no problems with confidence, the doubts about how weak his powers are compared to other telekinetics and being torn between selfish and selfless uses of his empathic powers do undermine that beneath the surface. He's well aware that empathic powers are not really widely used by heroes, being more the domain of villains for inciting chaos within society. Regardless, deep down, there's a good heart trying to do his best to be a hero in spite of that.

Powers:

  • Telekinesis: Simply enough, Lucien can move and throw things with his mind. Compared to other telekinetics, his power is quite a bit more plain and weak, since moving things is the extent of his capabilities. He can fly by lifting himself up, but it's nigh-impossible to lift other things while flying. His normal maximum load is up to 3 average humanoids.

  • Empathy: Lucien can feel the mental state and emotions of others, and form empathic links with them to make the range at which he can do so essentially infinite.

  • Reverse-empathy: Likewise, Lucien can make others aware of emotions and mental states, either of himself or of someone he has an empathic link with. Lucien can also nudge these same things towards a certain emotion/state, like pushing someone towards feeling happy or being sleepy.

  • Bright Drive: While Lucien comes from a long line of psychics and telekinetics, this strange pool of willpower is something that has originated with him. When in extremely dire situations, it kicks in by maximising his TK power to his full potential, his eyes taking on a white glow and gold hue, and giving him access to Brightfire.

  • Brightfire: By creating immense friction in the air with his full TK potential realized with Bright Drive, Lucien can create white-hot flames that he can lob around.

Backstory: Lucien was born into the Bright family, a line of psychics and telekinetics of various levels of heroic and villainous fame and infamy. Compared to his older brother and sister, he's clearly the weakest of the bunch power-wise, competing for the weakest in the Bright family history. However, he had massive telekinetic potential which he never seemed to be able to progress very far with under family tutelage. His empathy was often derided for being mostly useless compared to the full on psychics, but nobody could ever say it to his face or in mocking after spending time with him.

  • In school, he was always the mediator, the comforter, the one who went out of his way to make others happy...or sad, depending on what they had done. For both selfish and selfless reasons, his powers were used through the years with almost reckless abandon. At 15, a teacher found his aptitude for helping others with emotional problems and recommended to a local newspaper that he write an advice column to cultivate using his powers for the benefits of others and not for his own. One year later, and bolstered by the small amount of help he had done to the world, but not yet satisfied, he enrolled in Saint Academy, with the blessing of his family in the hopes of reaching his full potential.

Miscellaneous: Lucien plays the synthesizer and the saxophone, and writes a weekly advice column for a newspaper in Saint City.

Name: Fala Pine

Age: 15

Appearance: A rare instance where she's seen smiling. note  5'6, muscular and broad in figure. Has a preference towards punk fashion.

Personality: While she may seem rough around the edges upon first impressions, in actuality, she actually has a hidden sweetness to her that she keeps guarded to avoid being hurt.

Powers or Abilities:

  • Super-Tough Skin: Capable of withstanding a barrage of bullets without slowing down, has retractable spines to aid in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Healing Factor: Fala can heal herself about an hour after being wounded.
  • Acid Spit: Can spew a corrosive acid up to 20 feet in front of her.

Gear:

  • Hydroflask: Always keeps it on hand to aid with her healing factor and to replenish her acid supply. Absolutely covered in stickers.

Backstory:

Created as the result of a magical space rock fragment landing in a greenhouse for pineapples owned by Dr. Henry Pine, he and his husband Jeffery raised her alongside their older son Gerard, with the family's youngest child Jack entering the picture three years later. Being the middle child, the only girl, and the sole non-human of her family, Fala always seemed to stick out like a sore thumb. This only intensified by the time she reached school age, during which her classmates would treat her as a spectacle at best and a target for bullying at worst. Seeing this, Fala's parents signed her up for tae kwon do classes so that she may learn to defend herself, leading to her eventually reaching her first-degree black belt at age 11. However, try as she may, she could not shake off the label of "outcast" and "freak" for good, so she would eventually start closing herself off from her peers, embracing a tough and untouchable facade.

Miscellaneous:

  • Keeps a pet Venus fly trap named Chompy.
  • Her hobbies include sewing and crafting jewelry from various bric-a-brac.

Name: Edgar Kevlar Super name: The Lamprey Age:16

Appearance: The most distinguishable feature about him is his purple skin and holes in his body. Generally they are closed, but when attacking, they open up due to his power. He has two rows of teeth which are all sharp like fangs and his eyes are a sickly yellow with purple irises. His hair is charcoal black and has long bangs that can cover part of his face. Has a decent size of muscle and stands at 5,8 feet.

His casual wear includes a shirt with a sleeveless sweater and a bowtie. He also likes to use track pants and running shoes, although he doesn't like to do jogging. This is replaced when he is in important events by black jeans and leather shoes.

Costume: A light cyan suit with tubes and valves all over him to concentrate his byproducts into a direction (indicated by his fingertips) instead of just carelessly spraying it. Includes a gas mask, but he doesn't require one at all.

Personality: Edgar despite his scary appearance is soft-spoken, shy, caring, and amicable with a disposition to help in whatever way is needed and wants people he enjoys to be happy to the extent of coming off as an extreme doormat.

Although in first introductions to new people his shyness and paranoia are cranked up to 11 as he fidgets in place, and trembles and scratches his head awkwardly. He looks to the other side when talking and hums to himself, so it may take a while for him to warm up for other people.

However, he has berserk-like rages due to his super-sensitive hearing, high frequency, or very loud and constant noises. His eyes turn bloodshot, and he starts salivating and growling like a wild animal. The only thing on his mind is to destroy whatever is producing the sound. A less destructive variety of this is in stressful situations where he slowly but surely gets progressively angry until he snaps and becomes berserk again. Edgar is aware of this but can't stop once he is berserking. Still, he is making efforts to keep them under control and is one of the reasons he is in the academy. Things that can calm him down rather quickly are:

Flowers. Tea. Water currents. Armada. Koi fishes. Classical music. And birds chirping.

His hobbies include relaxing activities to not accidentally go into a blind rage and because he genuinely likes them, like gardening, bird watching, listening to Mozart while drinking tea, and puzzles. He recently got into gaming as well, but he plays them at a low volume.

Powers:

Matter Processor: Edgar's jaw strength, teeth, and digestive system allow him to eat anything he can break down. Anything he eats is digested immediately making it hard to feel full, almost like a living furnace except without any heat output.

Living Laboratory: From the holes in his body, Edgar expels the product of anything he eats in the form of complex chemical compounds. He generally expels them in a gaseous state, but solids and liquids are not out of his game as long as it can come out of a coin-sized cavity. The most used products are strands of airborne RNA that infect anyone except himself. Once infected with this RNA, the cells in the body of the patient will carry on the instruction of the RNA sequence generally used to create symptoms of known diseases or sometimes entirely new ones, hijacking the biochemistry of the body. Severity is varied depending on his mood. The angrier he gets, the more dangerous and painful the strands are. However, these can be cured by using medicine that treats those symptoms and through Edgar producing the cure. A drawback of this ability is that he needs to eat to create anything and if he doesn't, his body will use itself as material, which has not pretty results. Not to mention the pain that some chemical reactions cause him and others, making him real careful about using his powers.

Physiology: Edgar is immune to any disease or harmful material that goes inside his body and is also resistant to many forms of damage, but his pain sensitivity is through the roof.

Gear:

Sound mitigator: To avoid any villain exploiting his rage. This device muffles any high frequency or loud sound to a more manageable noise. Also, in any case he goes berserk, it will play calming sounds to go back to normal.

Emitters: In the fingertips of his gloves, there are mechanisms to emit his products.

Backstory:

Sometimes people can win the biggest prize in the lottery. A one in a million chance is practically a miracle. Well, that's what happened to Edgar, but in the inverse.

When he was born, Edgar was regarded as a freak of nature, a mistake. Almost immediately, the couple, choosing not to raise their son, left him in an orphanage where he got his name.

In the orphanage, the young child learned the basics. As he grew older no one wanted him at all and he was disregarded by his peers. Even the staff was unnerved by him and his powers, which has lead to a couple of incidents in which he, a 10-year-old child, received the blame for something he couldn't control.

Until one day, somehow people from ANTHRAX found out about his powers, so one day he was kidnapped by them. They placed him in a big facility designated to create lethal bioweapons in numerous labs and factories. His treatment didn't get any better as he was beaten when he didn't produce the desired compound, and was indoctrinated in the principle that obeying his superiors was the best thing, disguised as a sort of sick love. In the facility, it was frequent that one of their ways to punish him for not obeying was placing a dog whistle sound in his room until he complied.

It was a matter of time until someone found out about this and the facility was raided, and everyone involved was sentenced to prison except for him. He was rescued by Armada and she took him under her wing in the academy. Maybe he could use his powers for good finally.

  • Age: 16
    • [[ERROR MESSAGE:12462967106]]
  • Appearance: See below
  • Costume:
    • [[ERROR MESSAGE:input not found]]
  • Personality: Johnathan is a man that you could have a full conversation with without learning a single thing about him. It’s extremely rare that he gives but the scantest details about himself, and even then they’re oftentimes cryptic riddles with no answer. He puts on a show of standoffishness and is unpleasant to almost illogical degrees, not out of anger, but out of a strong desire never to watch anyone fall victim to the demonic soulmate sharing his body again. The more Johnny likes you, the more scared of you he is, and as such the more angry he’ll act when you’re nearby, all in a desperate attempt to keep those most vulnerable to his curse safe.
    • Truly, though, Johnathan wants to channel the infections if the Anomaly into a heroic use, and he is wholly devoted to helping anyone he can, especially those who the anomaly has affected. This isn’t entirely altruism, however, as a substantial amount of this drive to help is due to immense guilt over the role Johnny has played in many undeserved deaths, destroyed relationships and ruined lives. He’d do anything to wipe those off the slate.
    • None of this is to say that Johnathan is anti-social, however. He’s certainly an extrovert and, in different circumstances, he would be extremely friendly all the time, but things being what they are he instead resorts to pushing people away.
  • Powers: ANOMALY DETECTED
    • Briars of Infection: ''The Anomaly is capable of extending its mass into several spectral limbs resembling thorny vines. These limbs are capable of transmitting two unique infections, and The Anomaly naturally causes a third.
      • inf.Pressure Pox: The first of the anomaly’s infections, the Pressure Pox is the easiest and most commonly utilized. Essentially, this disease creates a general air of unease around The Anomaly, an unease which only grows as long as you’re nearby. As The Anomaly breaches the infected’s mental barriers, the Pressure Pox begins to actively drain the victim of positive emotions leaving only a bitter shadow of what once was.
      • inf.Atrophied Ailment: The second and most physically dangerous of The Anamoly’s infections, the Atrophied Ailment causes immense physical damage to any poor soul unlucky enough to be ensnared in each of it’s limbs by the Briars of Infection. The infected body will immediately begin to wither and, within minutes, will be incapable of movement.
      • inf.Vivisecting Virus: When the anomaly forces it’s briars into he brain of it’s victims, they are inflicted with the Vivisecting Virus. This infection allows the Anomaly total control of the inflicted, and only the strongest minds have been able to rend themselves from the infection’s grasp. This is the most difficult to pull off, however, and it requires the previous application of both other infections.
  • Gear: Johnny carries around a Portable Quarantine Applicator (PQA) which allows him to keep The Anomaly at bay without keeping up a conscious effort.
  • Background: [ERROR MESSAGE:hello]
    • Years ago, Johnathan Young was born to two young parents, deeply in love. Maybe they had their child too early, maybe it was a lack of money that caused them to stress. Maybe when the father developed alcoholism it drove them apart. Maybe the mother’s dependence on cigarettes. Regardless, as years went by, young Johnny watched as the only two faces he knew contorted into anger, despair, and finally, numbness. In the void of emotion, there was release only in death. The father lost his life to suicide when Johnathan was 2, and the mother was soon to follow three months after Johnny was taken from her due to an investigation from Child Protective Services.
    • Johnathan floated around the foster system for awhile, his families always somehow ending in disaster, fury and heartbreak. The spry, the aged and all in between could not escape the curse of Young, and so Johnathan never had a family to stay with. In the dead of night the boy was awoken to the feeling if intense sickness. He felt the life leave his body. Looking up with greying vision, Johnathan saw a twisted mess of garbled mass larger than any adult he has ever seen. At 13 years old, he confronted The Anomaly, and from there most everything is a blur.
    • Lacking control of his movement, Johnathan’s actions were not his own. His body moved in strange ways, dancing like a puppet on a string. A month passed, then a year. 365 days of being a passive observer to the anomaly piloting his body. And then, after tha year had passed, the feeling returned to Johnny’s body. The memories of the past were clear as day, the lives stolen vivid as the sun, and one thing resonated in Johnny’s mind.
    • I’ve gotta fix this.
    • ''Developing a device to suppress the Anomaly, Johnny decided to put his infectious invader to use in hero work, and to make up for all the damage he had caused.

  • Real Name: Kitson Dragonfly
  • Superhero Name: Songblade
    • Yes, he named himself after his sword.
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: “Elegance went out the window after you SOLD me!”
  • Costume “For the Badlands!”
  • Personality:
    • Kit is abrasive and rude, two traits gained from years of neglect and constant pressure to stay ‘elegant’ in times of stress. He tends to treat academics and high-society people and the like with disdain, respecting those that, just as he does, squared up to the standards of the Oni. Strong, dominant and ready and eager to fight to prove your worth. Kitson believes all should follow these guidelines in their walks of life. Elegance as a concept especially sets him off, and any who comment upon his lack of such a trait typically find themselves with newly earned bruise on the jaw. Kit does, however, still have the trademark royal education in decorum and the like, and is still trying to unlearn those behaviors. He’ll many times catch himself wondering where the soul spoon is, then realize he’s eating at a Mcdonald’s.
    • Kit is also, however, still a perky kid who never got a chance to have fun under all that muscle. He’ll gladly take up any offer from anybody to do something that he thinks is cool, including things that are expressly illegal. The limit here is things that, A, put others in active danger or, B, include disrespecting one’s parents in any way. Both of these limitations, as well as the drive for thrill and fun, are principles instilled by the Oni who have so much influence over Kit’s mind and behaviors.
  • Powers:
    • Elemenotta: Through tireless study and countless restless nights full of practice, Kiyo has fully mastered one measure of the Elemenotta and is well on his way to mastering a second.
      • Hurricana: This measure allows Kitson to harness the wind around him, and is the same measure that his sister has trained into utter mastery. Used correctly, this measure can perfectly counter any other, though it loses some potency when facing opponents of varied fighting style. Hurricana’s classical configuration allows for a razor sharp slash of wind to be emitted at the same time as the Songblade’s draw, and it lacks an alternate configuration.
      • Inferniano: This measure is one that is not typically incorporated into the curriculum of teaching in House Dragonfly due to it’s brutal nature. It’s also much harder to learn than Hurricana, with quick, numerous movements of the blade required for the classical configuration alone, which sets the Songblade ablaze. The alternate configuration allows the user to create a small, floating ball of fire that can be moved and morphed into various shapes via whistle.
    • Useful Skills:
      • Kitson has been trained to the physical peak by the Oni, and has also been trained in royal fencing.
  • Gear:
    • The Songblade:
      • Created by the Dragonfly Knight, progenitor of house Dragonfly, the Songblade was created to weaponize the Elemenotta. The blade has multiple, meticulously crafted serrations and depressions about the edge which emit a note when drawn from the blade’s sheath at a certain speed. Different patterns of drawing and resheathing the curved blade allow different measures of the Elemenotta to be played. This technique allows not only the sword itself to be affected by the element being manipulated, but also allows for more advanced techniques such as fireballs and flash-freezing to be utilized.
    • Whitestone Sheath:
      • A secondary sheath, half the length of the Songblade and with no end. The sheath is crafted in such a way that a single entrance and exit of the blade will result in a perfectly refined, sharpened edge. This was not an invention of the Dragonfly knight, but instead his long forgotten brother who is whispered to be the first Patron Saint of the Badlands.
  • Background:
    • ”First thing you learn in a noble house? You’re a tool. A currency to buy favor with.”
      • Born 7th in line to the once-great House Dragonfly, Kitson was birthed into rising tensions between his noble family and the Oni of the Badlands. These tensions were a constant weight on his family’s shoulders and, due to his comparative unimportance, it caused them to slowly but surely begin to ignore him. Childhood friends who had played games with him began to avoid or bully him to relieve stress caused by their own angered parents. Adults who attended his birthdays and made it a point to be polite to him looked down on him as nothing more than an annoyance. His sister, Kaya, treated him as an active burden on their bloodline and was the only member of the family to go out of her way to cause pain to the boy. The only refuge that Kitson found was in Kaeden Dragonfly, his grandfather and patriarch of house Dragonfly. This man was Kit’s rock, he always made time for the boy, never seems angry or annoyed at him, treated him well. Kaeden was the only thing that kept Kit from utter despair, and so when the old man traded Kit to the Oni for peace, it sent him into a deep depression.
    • '”Truth is, the Oni had more honor than any noble house you’ll ever see, ‘specially dragonfly. They’ve got principles.”
      • Kit was taken before Shura, chieftan of the badlands, expecting fully to be killed. Instead, he was given a stolen Songblade, and he was told that the Oni were planning an overthrow of house Dragonfly. His soul bitter, Kit agreed to assist, not out of allegiance to the Oni but out of hatred for his former family. After training for a grueling year, Kit gained a respect, though still not a trust, for the people of the badlands. On the night of the siege, he donned the light armor and war paint of the Oni, and just before they went to battle he drank with them.
    • ”Even then, at my peak, she beat me black and blue.”
      • The siege was barely even a battle. Only the royals were trained in Elemenotta combat, and so the mastered counter of Hurricana was used rarely, and The Whitestone Sheath circumvented the need to constantly be sharpening the blade. All was well, and Kit eventually made it to his grandfather’s quarters. There was no begging, no struggle, no words. All Kaeden Dragonfly said before he was struck down was I’m sorry, my boy. Taking the ancestral ring of the patriarch and having killed the rest of the line, Kit named himself patriarch of House Dragonfly. And then his finger was cut off. Without him even realizing, Kaya had snuck up on Kit and used her perfected measure of Hurricana to cut off his ring finger. He tried futile to fight back, but his sister was able to preform the measure faster than Kit could even draw. He would’ve died right there, but Shura burst through the door and fought her off. Awakening under the tent of the chieftan, he was brought before the entire tribe by Shura. Now, owing this man his life, Kitson had found another rock. And before his new family, Shura announced the adoption of the boy, and named him Patron Saint of the Badlands.
    • ”Never really got used to the quiet.”
      • In the year between the siege of House Dragonfly and Kiston’s admission into Saint Academy, the Badlands grew quiet. Though this peace was welcomed by the Oni and, at first, by Kit, it soon became quite boring and then downright unbearable. In all his crusading against those who wronged him, Kit had become addicted to the thrill of battle. He longed for something, anything to fight, and once again fell into a depression, a slump caused by a feverish dependency on battle. To fill this void Kit looked to ever-more dangerous ways of excitement, from spicy foods to wresting gators to, like, math, but none of it matched the feeling of pure, face to face combat. Then, it hit him. There was a profession perfectly suited for a man of his proficiency, and 100% guaranteed to provide a near endless stream of fights? And so, now marching right back into civilization With the blessings of Shura, the patron saint of the badlands enrolled in Saint Academy to become a hero.
