@ Blueace, Lenore Zann actually just resigned her seat recently in the Canadian Parliament, so she is free:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lenore_Zann

Well, the voice actors for Cyclops, Magneto, and Apocalypse are dead, so they will have to be replaced. Of the living original cast, I think only Jubilee will be recast, she tweeted she would like to see an Asian voice actor play Jubilee:

https://twitter.com/alysontheother/status/1274088404637147140

Apparently, she will still be involved:

https://twitter.com/alysontheother/status/1459258197873676293

Maybe she will be playing Kitty Pyrde?

I think everyone else from the OG cast will be playing the same roles.

It would be interesting to guess some of the new voice actors are playing, Holly Chou may be playing Jubilee, perhaps Jennifer Hale will be playing Rachael Summers, Jean's daughter from the future, and perhaps Jeff Bennett will play Magneto, with David Hemblen dead and Tom Kane retired, they would have to find a new Magneto and Bennett could pull that off. I wonder of they have Tara Strong play Magik, she played a young version of the character back in X-Men TAS.

This cast is an interesting mix of LA and Toronto voice actors. They could also adapt the numerous stories that happened after TAS ended like some of the Grant Morrison run.

Also, I hope they do with more Jean Grey, she was kinda useless in the old show when she didn't have Phoenix Force, she should be more formidable in this show than the old one.

Wonder if Deadpool will show up in this series.

The last episode of X-Man was pretty great and Xavier's final speech was a beautiful ending to the series.

As for the rest of season 5... Phalanx two-parter was decent and I did enjoy Sinister's origin. But yeah, I wouldn't list "Jubilee's Fairytale Theatre" among the show's finest moments.

He did have a cameo.

Though of course he was literally born around the same time the show aired so he didn't have his popularity or well known characterization at that point.

We could get a ton of the new x heroes and villains. Or at least guys who didn't appear in the original .

Like I think selene will probably appear.

Hell since 616 Dracula is now more of an x men villain nowadays we could even get him.

I feel cautious on this. While I liked TAS I thought it closed decently. Felt like this is an attempt to cash in on nostalgia.

I wonder the same Role Reprise would be applied in foreign dubs, especially in the Latin American Spanish one, as that one was quite pretty good and featured many well-known voice actors. Granted, they will have to replace all the voice actors who either died, like César Arias (Professor Charles Xavier), Alvaro Tarcicio (Apocalypse), Eduardo Borja (Sabertooth), Carlos Íñigo (Pyro), Alejandro Illescas (Iceman), etc., or retired.

And the same goes double for the Japanese dub, as it was dubbed twice: One for TV Tokyo and another for Toon Disney.

Okay. So I liked X-Men: The Animated Series, it was a part of my childhood. But... why? Who asked for this exactly? I don't think there's a legion of rabid X-Men: The Animated Series fans on the Internet clamouring for it to make a comeback?

I just... don't understand the reasoning for this specifically. Off the top of my head, I can think of loads of other Marvel shows and properties that deserve continuation more than freaking X-Men '97.

And no, I'm not still bitter about EMH and Spectacular Spider-Man. Why do you ask?

Who asked for this exactly?

Clearly someone asked for it, thus why it's being made. Just because you personally didn't ask for it, don't assume there weren't fans that did.

C'mon, it was one of the most successful marvel animated shows, it's not that hard to figure out why they are doing a continuation. Plus it has been awhile since they did an X-Men cartoon.

X-Men: The Animated Series has one very specific tone and aesthestic, and that is 90s as fuck. So I'm not sure how a continuation directly where we left off would work nowadays.

TBF nostalgia is a big thing now. Granted its mostly for the 80s specifically but people do eat that shit up like cocaine.

Ready Player One was a huge success for a reason and it definitely wasn't for the writing or compelling characters thats for sure.

[up][up] Yeah, it's hard to really recapture that style of animation. The only time I ever saw it done well was the GI Joe tribute ep of Community and that was a parody.

I can see their point because modern Marvel comics can get on a...preachy side. There was for example lately this infamous scene where Hellcat called Tony "another white guy with god complex" and told him that he never had to look past his privilege (forget all those times he lost everything, I guess)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hellcat_1.png

Scene in question takes place in hospital where Tony is recovering from 17 fractured bones in his arm and a punctured left lung after protecting people from supervillain.

[up][up][up]

I think that there's always going to be an inherent assumption that anyone with a lot of money, no matter what they do, comes from privilege, doesn't understand the suffering of others, and will always take actions for their own benefit, even if that action is risking their life to save others.

....and there might be some truth to that.

They will always be Acceptable Targets.

Yeah, but bringing it up from out of nowhere after the guy just broke himself to save people, and to someone who has to bring himself back from the bottom like every week? At the very least it feels like shoehorned in, honestly.

Wake me up at your own risk.

That's just how it is.

The fact that Tony is kind of an arrogant jerk and playboy, and has been responsible for two separate Super Hero Civil Wars probably doesn't help.

That is why I don’t like Hellcat in that book. She’s basically Tony’s life coach and spends the run just telling him what to do and how to feel. And when Tony does call her out on the fact he has struggled she then uses her own suicide to sorta win a misery poker against him to justify telling him what to do.

It’s like a weird moment in United States or Captain America where Falcon tells Steve he can’t “validate” him cause his ancestors might have been slave owners.

I was about to say, Stark does bring it on himself a lot of the time.

To be fair, Tony - especially comics Tony - does tend towards "white guy with a god complex" sometimes. There's a lot of characters who wrestle with the fact that they're rich dudes who gave themselves the right to do things other people aren't allowed to do because they're so rich: Bruce Wayne, Tony Stark, Scrooge McDuck. The writing around those characters tends to be built around obscuring that as a result: Bruce's writers constantly surrounding himself by the corruption of the setting he lives in and rarely focusing on the wealthy side of his character, or Scrooge's writers either owning him being a jerkass (in the comics) or him being a family man and having his ventures always benefit others in addition to himself (in Ducktales 87) or just straight up having him only care about adventuring and not give a crap about money at all (Ducktales 2017).

Tony Stark is a bit different than them, however, because the writers just kind of accept it with Tony. Tony's response to that uncomfortable question is usually "well, I mean, why shouldn't I have all the power?" Which... yeah.

I was thinking that myself. Tony does have the issue that he kinda is a arrogant prick at times (again, two civil wars, among other shit he's pulled).

It's much easier to see the worst in everything he does, because of all of that.

MCU Tony exemplified this.
