Noonbory

Well, it's about time someone started a forum for this show.

Hi. In case my username didn't give it away, I'm a huge fan of Noonbory (I wouldn't be surprised if I'm considered a Fandom VIP at this point). I'm starting this forum to find people who like this show like I do.

Here, we can share our thoughts on episodes/characters and discuss our fanon.

OK,what's this guy about?

Noonbory started as a Korean stationary mascot in 2000. He spun off from Baby Aru/PinkAru after proving to be extremely popular. His name is a play on the Korean word "nunbola" (눈보라), which means "blizzard" (though his name has also translated as "snowstorm", "snowy", "Snow Barley", etc.)

His first animated appearance was in an animated film released in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, the film has since been lost, and only a few promotional images remain as proof that it existed. From these images, I gather that this film was the first appearance of Mamby (Noonbory's pet/sidekick/best friend) and Harube (Noonbory's grandfather).

Later down the line in 2009 was his second Animated Adaptation, and the most well-known; Noonbory and the Super 7; an animated children's program. This series introduced the Super 7, Noonbory's friends with Super-Senses who help keep the land of Tubatuba (Toobalooba in the English version) safe from super silly villainy. This was Noonbory's first venture outside his homeland of South Korea, as this show was a collaboration with the Canadian studio Cookie Jar Entertainment. In addition to an English dub, a Spanisn and Portuguese dub was produced, and while a French and Japanese dub have been said to exist, no footage of them has been found.

Unfortunately, this series failed to garner an international audience, and was Quietly Cancelled after only one season. The series had a follow-up/sort-of second season in 2011 known as Tooba Tooba Noonbory, which was a Slice of Life and finally reintroduced PinkAru to the cast. As of now, this is the last time Noonbory has appeared in animation.

Since Tooba Tooba Noonbory ended, the franchise has mostly been dormant, and it's unlikely it will make it back onto airwaves.

Sort-of bumping, but there is additional info:

• Noonbory's name wasn't spelled that way until he made his way into Western airwaves (it was previously spelled Nunbory).
• Similarly, Harube's name was anglicized to Hanubi in the English dub.
• It is unknown if the members of the Super 7 appeared in any media prior to the 2009 series.
• The lost film features a dragon character, whose design was later reused for the 2009 series character Dozegury.

Bumping again, but hey, gotta get new people to join somehow.

I'm currently working towards a goal of having enough video examples from this series that it warrants having its own Video Source page. It seems like a daunting task, but if the dedicated fans of series like The Owl House and Tuca & Bertie can do it, then I can too.

...Have you considered that nobody posts here because nobody else here is a “fan” of Noonbory?

Don't crush their enthusiasm. Someone someday might be a fan. Plus it's not hurting anyone.

I'd say anyone can make a forum for whatever they'd like. A fandom's a fandom, no matter how small.

Okay, let’s say that a Noonbory fan wanted to find this thread.

One problem. Noonbory is not a web series in the slightest. That’s what defines “New Media”.

So if a fan wanted to find this thread, they wouldn’t, unless they somehow knew to check a specific subforum.

I talked to the mods about this.

I put it here because it doesn't fit in with Western Animation or Anime. If there was a place for Asian Animation, it would be there, but sadly, there's not.

As such, this is my best option until a mod gets back to me about what to do.

I just found this thread and yet it’s been ages since I’ve seen Noonbory. One of the many shows I watched in childhood and honestly I might give it a watch again when I get a chance.
