I have to ask, why is Cobra Kai considered a comedy instead of a drama?
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.South Park should've won.
No Anthony Starr nomination as Homelander for supporting actor in a Comedy seems a waste. Same with Oscar Isaacs missing out as lead for moon knight.
Also for Best Voice over performance. Ella Purnell (Jinx) and Jason Spiask (Silco) we're robbed for Arcane. They played two of the best villains in western animation ever.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The Boys (2019) isn't actually eligible for this round of Emmys; this year's window is June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022 (while The Boys s3 premiered on June 3). Maybe next year!
Well, holy shit.
Squid Game is, to use hyperbole, sweeping the Emmys.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. That's a weird way to spell "The White Lotus."
That was really shitty of Kimmel. Where's Will Smith when you actually need him?
"Everyone’s equal. Same chances of getting hit. Equal in the eyes of the rocket.”Yeah, Quinta handled it with a lot of grace but I would not have held it against her if she'd just stepped on him.
Happy for Abbott Elementary, Matthew Macfadyen and Jennifer Coolidge, sad for Better Call Saul fans (have not seen a single episode but folks are big mad), and one day I'll get an Apple TV+ subscription. One day!
Also Selena Gomez and the Martins are also delightful offset.
For Better Call Saul, there is always Season 6-B as a Consolation Award.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Reminder that The Wire is one of the best shows off a time and has never won an Emmy. So don't worry too much BCS.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."If there has been any upside to the streaming wars it has given us a lot of accessible and quality TV; the crop of shows up for awards the last couple of years have been very good. The Emmys felt a lot more populist (ironically that is what some folks want the Oscars to be) ~4 years ago, where Game of Thrones and Modern Family were sweeping just for being shows everyone was watching. So Better Call Saul losing Outstanding Drama to Succession is a lot less eye-rolling than it losing it to GOT, at least in my eyes. (Of course, like I said I have not seen a single episode of either BB or BCS so maybe I'm way off)

Emmy nominations for this year's ceremony drop in less than two days (7/12). Any race/nominee anyone's invested in? Long-shot chaos predictions?
Maybe BCS Season 6B gets an honorary Emmy?
The cold never bothered me anywayBCS 6B is regular Emmy eligible. (Though going up against shows with a lot more recency bias.)
I'm excited for The Bear's nominations but I wonder what the precise rules are that determine whether something is eligible for the Comedy or Drama category. Seeing Ebon and Jeremy in the same field as Quinta just feels...off.
Season 1, which is nominated, feels like an even split between comedy and drama but season 2 is more like 70/30, in favor of drama.
I thought something similar about Barry. Sarah Goldberg was delivering ethereal work this season, but her storyline had so few comedy moments that I can only assume campaigning alongside the performances of Quinta Brunson/Martin Short felt like category fraud.
TVline thinks the traditional comedy show is increasingly underawarded and disappearing, with Reservation Dogs, The Other Two etc. getting sidelined.
(Me? I think the Emmys need a Best Ensemble award. Filling your acting noms with the same 4 shows doesn't tell me those 4 shows are completely stacked with the world's best actors, it tells me the voters need to watch/nominate more shows)
We had a thread for the Oscars this year, so may as well make one for the Emmys, as the nominations for 2021 were released a few hours ago.
