The potential Smallville cartoon is still in the very, very early stages of development. It won't affect this show at all.

[up][up] Yeah that crossover was pretty biased in favor of making Batman look cooler over Superman, plus III had the whole with him dating Lois for a bit.

Batman and Superman as rivals will always inherently benefit Batman because a version that benefits Superman is either narratively dull or devastating to Batman. Batman getting one up on Superman works for very simple reasons, and even though it's become trite, the reverse is only interesting as a response to the easier story.

The Smallville Season 11 comic is a good case in point; that version is very favorable to Superman, but does so by making Batman a near-parody of Nolanverse Bruce at his worst.

Probably the best "Bruce v Clark" story is in Kingdom Come (I say "in" because the larger story isn't really about that), which focuses on them as ideological opposites while also acknowledging their core similarities.

[up][up][up]

You mean, beside the part where Batman fought tooth and nail to survive a fight with that Luthor Robot, even accidentally outing himself to Lois in the process, only for Superman to squash it in seconds.

Clark also figured out Bruce's identity with a quick bit of X-Ray vision.

Yeah, there's the judo flip, but it didn't do jack, and Superman put him down again seconds later.

Probably the worst moment was Clark's first ecounter with the Joker. He had the Kryptonite suit, but only due to Bruce's earlier warnings about the Joker having the Kryptonite, which Joker destroyed with Acid. Batman had to then save him (but even he wasn't sure how to help them escape until a weakened Superman told him to use the Sulphuric Acid to melt the Kryptonite, letting him recover and get them out in time) and he felt for Joker's Marble grenades.

Honestly, I don't think it's as one side as you think. I get it. Batman gets hyped up too much, but I don't think this is an example.

Apparently some of the people that were on Smallville are trying to make an animated series on it. It was announced a few years ago, but we still don't know much about it.

Like I said, it's very early days for that.

This show will probably finish airing season 2 before that show really...gets of the ground, so to speak.

[up][up][up][up] Amusingly the final fight with Batman isn't with Superman, it's towards Wonder Woman as they both have it out for being on mutually opposed sides.

So even then it averts being a typical "Bats vs Supes" argument.

Hard disagree on World's Finest, the film that literally had a quarter of itself dedicated to Batman being thoroughly smacked around by Luthor's weapons forcing him to rely on Superman to swoop in and effortlessly save him, being a story that focused on making Batman look cool and Superman look lame. A lot of that story is built on Batman being impotent in dealing with the threat at hand, and needing to convince Superman to help him in order to get it dealt with.

What that story did was base a lot of its plot on the Metropolis crowd underestimating the Gotham crowd. Both Metropolis law enforcement and Luthor don't take Joker seriously, or Batman for being the guy who fights Joker, resulting in Luthor accidentally handing Joker the keys to a superweapon. Superman comes to understand that Batman is a genuine crime fighter and ally, and has to learn to trust his input. But the story doesn't depict either as inferior to the other.

If Batman appears, it will probably only be to demonstrate how much "superior" "Chad Batman" is to "Virgin Superman."

That has never happened in any of their animated team ups, and it sure wouldn't happen in this show.

This seems like an odd thing to worry about.

Generally speaking, the idea that writers are constantly playing up Batman to Superman's detriment is mostly invented within the minds of the fandom, and is usually one of those things I expect to hear more from people who aren't too familiar with either character. It's a frustrating bit of Common Knowledge, in short.

Official crossovers between the two characters are nearly always incredibly respectful to both, and tend to be some of the best content to feature both characters (like, it's a crime that they only ever made one adaptation of any of the Batman / Superman comic's stories. That comic has some of the best stories either character's ever had). Unless you're reading Frank Miller, but Frank Miller's the same guy who had Batman unironically call someone a [insert incredibly offesnve word for a mentally impaired person] genuinely believing it made him look cool, and once tried to pitch a story in which Batman went on an Islamaphobic rampage, so he's not exactly a good litmus for how the characters are typically written.

So, in short, if Batman does show up in this show, I wouldn't worry about it.

The Injustice games are the ones that fuel the fire the most in my opinion, despite it being painfully non-canon and even having the canon Superman coming in showing how they're different, nevertheless there's no shortage of people using that as proof Superman has lesser moral conviction than Batman.

As I said a while back, if Batman does show up, I'd like for them to subvert the usual "Superman and Batman initially don't trust each other" business and instead have them get along from the start. They just instantly clicked with each other as soon as they meet and the whole crossover is just them being Super-bros.

I think it’d be funny if their rivalry was comedic, as in, Batman gets jealous and tries to one-up Superman even though it’s probably not possible. Of course, pettiness is out of character for Batman, but still.

World's Finest made Clark look like was being dunked repeatedly and even had that moment where he forgot he was a journalist, since back in his show he was doing some investigative work.

even had that moment where he forgot he was a journalist

Would anyone like a scene wheree we get cameo's from other dc heroes without them actually meeting?

Like an intelligence officer talking with Waller who doesn't really buy into her threat assessment of Superman and brings up a bunch of images of other superheroes on a computer to point out he's not the only superhero around.

One features Bats on a roof silhouetted against the moon, a black and white photo of Diana, a green glow flying through the sky, a old newspaper showing Dr. Fate, a red and yellow blur, a figure swimming through a tidal wave? That sort of thing.

World's Finest works because DCAU Batman was an old veteran by then, but not old enough to be out of shape yet, while Superman was still pretty much a newbie. Bruce seems to have been operating for years already before Superman debuts in that universe.

This discourse is funny because when I think of DCAU Supes/Bats crossovers, I think of "Knight Time", where Bruce is thoroughly thrown under the bus to prop Superman up.

Bruce gets literally dominated by one of Supes' foes and Supes out-Batmans Batman and demonstrates why Superman Stays Out of Gotham.
