Johny stands up, grabbing a blue-clearance laser pistol and starts pointing it first at Arita, then at Rosey, then at Aru. "Android! Where?" he demands. He seems unaware that he is currently barefoot. He glances down at the lawn gnome Aru is carrying. "It can't be Seymour, androids wouldn't smoke cigars."

Johny climbs onto the top of his desk. "You're not going to replace me, you silicon scum!" he snarls, waving the pistol around. "I'll have your clockwork gizzards for garters if you don't get out of my office right now!"
He fires a few shots at Aru's feet, dealing Aru 1d6 4 stress.
Friend Computer's monitor looks around.
Oh, my. Citizen Johny-B-GUD is fined 10 credits for damaging Alpha Complex property, namely Aru-R's left boot. I suggest head shots if you wish to avoid further fines.

Aru proceeds to aim her laser pistol and fire at Johnny’s head accounting for the direction he is moving and the offset of the sights.

In an amazing display of grace and speed, her hand slaps the side of her belt and comes up in one smooth motion, arm angled up at Johny's head and her trigger finger pulling back, gently squeezing.
Johnny's level (4) * dice (1) = 6
Johnny yelps in fear and leaps off the desk to cower behind his desk, taking 6 stress. Only then does he realize you three haven't actually been issued laser pistols yet 1 and Aru's hand is empty. "Get out!" He screams again.
Citizens, are you refusing an order from superior clearance citizen?
1) Getting equipment, such as laser pistols, is the responsibility of the team equipment officer.

There are many hallways in Alpha Complex, but this one is yours (at least in the sense its the hallway you are currently in). An auto-hack, basically an electric, robotic taxi is parked on a recharging pad. A sign points toward a monorail station and you can see the doors for an elevator. Against the wall is an InfoTerminal and a Bouncy Bubbly Beverage vending machine.

"Oh the R+D Lab." Rosey clapped her hands before turning towards the other three "If we go there the scientists and engineers can help us by giving us vital and novel equipment that will mostly likely be of use to us, and we will be helping out them by testing said vital and novel equipment out in the field for the purposes of recording data about said vital and novel equipment."
Rosey leads the way to a set of double door next to a sign. The sign reads "RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: 12 DAY-CYCLES SINCE THE LAST MAJOR EXPLOSION". A man in a yellow labcoat is busy erasing the '12' and then writing in '0'.
"Ah, mein fräuleins!" He says. He sees the wooden lawn gnome and clicks his boot heels together. "And Herr Seymour! I am Doofen-Y-GUD. Greetings and willkommen to das laboratorium!" He opens the door and waves you all inside.
Inside is a large room with walls, ceiling, and floor made of matte metal panels. Several technicians, dressed in red lab coats and safety goggles, are busy using fire extinguishers to fight a large fire. Doofen leads you over to a metal table on the other side of a lab where a metal table is set on the floor. He opens a cardboard box and dumps out four items onto the table.
First is a red fedora with a pair of headphones and a speaker horn attached to the top of the hat.
Second is a what appears to be a boot scraper modified with a bunch of flashing lights.
Third is a massive rifle attached to a backpack by a large hose.
The fourth item is a red metal box, with a large button on the top.
"These are unsere neueste arbeit! Practically guaranteed to not explode 95% of ze time!"
He goes down the row, starting with the hat. "Un listening mechanismus! Mutant power detector! Ze weapon of unusual size! And finally, begleiter für die häusliche pflege!"

Doofen holds up the backpack and rifle. "It is ze weapon of unusual size!" he exclaims. "Ze details are highly technical and above your Sicherheitsstufe." The 'rifle' has a switch labelled 'pilot light', a set of simple sights, and a trigger. He takes the straps and begins trying to put the pack on Aru's back.

Doofen buckles the straps around Aru. "If you want to switch equipment, you need to speak with ihr ausrüstungsbeauftragter. The listening device allows the wearer to hear things that she or he not normally could hear. The mutant power detects when someone nearby is a mutant. The box contains a roboter krankenschwester."

"It is experimental equipment!" Doofen thunders, stamping his foot. "It is verboten to refuse once it has been assigned, and I am assigning this to you as a superior ranked citizen!"
There is the sound of an old-fashioned mechanical printer running, then a slip of paper drops from the ceiling to in front of Arita. The paper is an equipment assignment form, assigning the Weapon of Unusual Size to Aru. The form also lists the listening device, mutant power detector, and robot-nurse but doesn't list who those are assigned to yet.

Rosey does not seem to notice Arus discomfort as she eyes the red fedora.
"Oh my, the listening device could most certainly be helpful in completing the mission that Friend Computer has assigned us to complete to the best of our abilities."
Rosey nods to herself as she speaks.

The fire has died down enough that one of the smoke-smudged technicians has put down his fire extinguisher and headed over to the table. At hearing Rosey's words, he picks up the hat and offers it to her. The headphones fit comfortably over Rosey's ears, blocking out the surrounding sounds. When she turns her head so the 'horn' on the top of the hat is pointed toward someone, she can clearly hear the person as if the person was standing right next to her.

Johny takes off his boots and socks, revealing two almost hobbit like feet, covered in hair. He begins trimming his yellowed, dirty toe-nails.
