Whoo boy, here goes:
- Trope Repair Shop is where tropes get changed or cut. However, and I cannot stress this enough: TRS threads don't open unless there is a damn good reason why the trope needs to be fixed.
- Thus, personally disliking it isn't a valid reason.
- If the trope attracts complaining, then that might be a valid reason to alter it, but not to cut it. And if the definition isn't to blame, then you'd be better off with a project thread.
- Keep in mind that we don't create the tropes, we only document and define them as we see them used. Saying a work has an Excuse Plot isn't necessarily saying it's a bad work- Pokemon is a great example of an Excuse Plot work that people love, and in fact the later gens with more substantial plots seem to have more detractors. It's just a fact about the narrative existing mostly to justify the rest of it. Tropes Are Tools.

The trope in question is Excuse Plot. I suggest we alter it for being way too specific and judgemental. 96% of video games, comic book, movies, and shows have stories that are just more excuses for action/drama/comedy! It is just way too nitpicky and subjective of a statement that undermines entertainment itself (even if it’s not the idea in concept, the execution is still very poor).
