I could definitely see Mojo Jojo being believed to be dead or something, and that he ends up being the sort of behind the scenes villain behind whatever big threat originally brings the girls back together.

That's an interesting choice, because depending on what age the adult PP Gs are (I'm assuming early 20s) it implies the Professor was quite young, relatively, when he created them.

Faison is 46 going on 47. If Prof U was in his 30s in the original show and this is set 15ish years after it (assuming the girls are in their early 20s), he’s in the right age range.
The more frightening question is if they’ll play him as a suave attractive parent like the Riverdale moms and dads

I would've preferred if his name was Jack Utonium.
It was always my headcanon that Utonium was descended from Jack.

That opens the horrific implication that The Girls are literal Daughters of Aku, much like Ashi and her sisters.

Speaking of Powerpuff Girls Z, they literally did have an Adaptation Origin Connection like that with Him in that show. IIRC, everyone was infected by Aku's evil - explaining most of their rogues - but some Technobabble or something stopped them from becoming evil as well.
