At least they still get to happen... for now anyway.

The GL franchise desperately needs an adaptation win. That movie did a lotta damage to the brand's reputation.

When they initially announced a Green Lantern Corps project I thought that was a smart approach, more than most comic properties the real appeal of GL is less about the individual hero and replicating the Heros Journey but the legacy of being part of an intergalactic guardian force. No matter who the focal point character is, the supporting cast will make or break the project.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!

According to Deadline, Lincoln March (played by Damon Dayoub), Rebecca March (played by Lauren Stamile), and their son Brody March (Rahart Adams) will be joining as recurring characters on Gotham Knights (2023).

Dayoub’s Lincoln March is a charismatic, self-made industrialist with designs on becoming Gotham’s next mayor, the only thing more important to Lincoln than his legacy is the power he wields as one of the city’s elite.

Old-money elegant, Stamile’s Rebecca plays the dutiful “Good Wife” to her business mogul husband. A caring and supportive mother, one would never know she’s trapped in an unhappy marriage.

“We are absolutely thrilled to add Lauren and Damon to our already stellar cast,” said showrunners/executive producers Fiveash and Stoteraux and co-executive producer Abrams in a statement. “It’s very fitting for their characters in particular to join our world of Gotham. And while fans of the comics may recognize Lincoln’s name, they should expect some twists in the stories to come.”

At least the crew is self-aware that Lincoln usually means some ties to the Court of Owls, as Owlman specifically (not to be confused with his Earth 3 counterpart). Though this version eventually tried to claim he was the long-lost Thomas Wayne Jr. Another strange overlap with this series and the video game.

Regarding The Penguin series, Matt Reeves teases to Collider that it'll follow Oswald's power grab before The Batman's sequel.

One of these spinoff projects is a series focused on the Penguin (Farrell), who is one of Batman’s most iconic villains. The Penguin only played a supporting role in The Batman, as the right-hand man of mobster Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), but Farrell will stretch his flightless wings in the miniseries, most likely to take over Gotham after Falcone’s demise. As Reeves tells us, “We are very, very soon going to start shooting The Penguin with Colin. That is super exciting.” So, the series is not only confirmed, despite the massive DCU overall, but it’s going into production this year—and soon.

The Penguin might not be the only project Reeves is currently developing, as he also tells us “There are some other things we have planned too. [...] The Bat Verse of what we're doing has me very, very excited, and I'm very passionate about it. So I'm excited.”

While the idea of a Penguin series is exciting, Reeves also points out how The Batman spinoff will be tightly connected to the theatrical releases. Reeves explains that “There's actually a whole little fabric of things we're wanting to do, the way we're doing with [the] Penguin and how that comes back into how that will lead into the sequel, and what that sequel is going to be.”

Oh. I guess we're still getting that Gotham Knights show. Because new trailer.

I'm still processing what kind of logic is there to have the lead character be some OC named Turner Hayes when he could easily be named Tim Drake.

Tim Drake is right there, Greg Berlanti! Why do you have to be allergic to established characters and stick with OCs and established characters who are in name only?

[up] If I recall correctly, using radically re-imagined or original characters makes it harder for comic-book writers and artists to claim royalties.

So Gotham Knights (2023) is slowly rolling out promo clips, as its March 14 premiere approachs. Amusingly, it reveals another parallel to last year's video game. The Court of Owls appears to one of the main threats. Hence the inclusion of Talon and Lincoln March.

I will say, having Harvey being part of the village who helped raise Bruce alongside Alfred and (depending on the continuity) Leslie is an interesting idea that I'm almost surprised no one has done yet.

It's a interesting wrinkle on Harvey and Bruce being personally close.
