Twitter is a flaming cesspool in general, and Bob is the kind of liberal who says the quiet part loud. Plus he gets trolled a lot by right-wingers, which feeds into a vicious cycle.

I post on twitter and unless I'm talking shit to anime avatars I aint as bad as him. Literally every single post the guy makes is absolutely *soaked* in this seething, vile, anger. It's palpable how utterly unhappy he is, yet he still goes on the bird site all the time so he can yell at socialists again for not wanting to genocide every man, woman, and child who lives outside of the northeast and southwest

Sucks too, I love his videos (when again, he isn't seething with a barely disguised misanthropy and hatred of everyone around him) but more and more it's either the vitriol and self hatred hour or it's the now incredibly boring Big Picture (which may as well just be the Marvel Gossip Show nowadays)

Annoyed that his latest videos are all just like, MCU gossip. Even Schlocktober this year seems low energy. Alas, it really really seems like whatever bitterness twitter infected with my man moviebob has consumed his soul

Part of it is probably that he's constantly inundated by the dumbest snyderverse fans and people who won't stop posting pictures of him (or some random other guy) and going "this you?" like a deliberate selfie is some kind of own.

Oh yeah, his weird anti fandom is definitely partially responsible, those permanently mad 4chan guys entered hell before they even died

Bob's hatedom is weirdly big and devoted for someone with an audience of his size.

Its not like there's no reason to find moviebob an iffy person in general, given his weird defense of Metroid Other M's sexism, and actual admitted support for real life eugenics.

So its not like his dissenters came out of nowhere, even if a lot of them are dumbasses.

I won't dispute that. I just meant that the hatedom is bigger and more devoted than one would normally expect given the size of his audience.

@demonic oh yeah like he's got a history of being at the very least an incredibly bitter and angry person for his entire time online but like, the thing the 4chan guys are mad about is not that he's a permanently angry man making videos he doesn't want to make and constantly going off on twitter- they are mad because he is politically progressive (except when he isn't which is super often)

I occasionally listen to Bob- his various insights are, at least, interesting, but his various biases and hang-ups are also obvious and sometimes too often get in the way of extracting the value of what he has to offer.

Granted, are they are mad or just goad him to being mad because they find him a lowcow? Bob is right now suffer the same J.K issue of "get out and touch grass" syndrome pretty heavly.

Whenever right wingers imagine a high-and-mighty liberal that looks down on them with sneering disdain, they imagine Movie Bob.

As a literal former chris chan troll, people who look out lolcows are fucking losers who have basically nothing going on for their lives so they bother other losers to keep themselves from looking up how to tie a noose and improve the world somewhat

I think a big part of the issue is that he engages the alt-right, (which lets be honest is mostly the mainstream conservative side in America right now and has been for the past decade) on their level and is willing to play their game their way. It doesn't work and while he can show how ridiculous they are sometimes, most of the time it just ends up being a shouty angry guy on twitter facing a mob of shouty angry guys and you get the results spread over the internet.

God Awful Movies also shows how awful the right wing is, but they do it from a distance, by making fun of it, not using their real names, and not responding with sincerity with people who don't really expect any in return. They essentially mstk3 the awful things they put in Evangelical's movies and let people laugh along with them. Whatever your opinion is on some of their dark humor, (not always down with them clowning on actors and actresses looks tbh) nobody expects them to get in a giant twitter war and respond directly to 4chan threads.

Bob happily(?) wades into that shit and, unfortunately, it makes him look like shit.

The thing with engaging channers is that most of often than not, they want a reaction and will fall into "lol" if you react, but Bo B does fight a lot, it dosent help some of his view are so....yikes that it make him a easy target.

Is kinda a unspoken rule that you should be indifferent to it.

I quite like the dude but he goads the alt right too much.

He's also become some kind of militant atheist, like a teen in the mid-noughties that just discovered The God Delusion and never misses a chance for a tedious sky fairy joke.

It's a shame he's so insufferable now, because I was a big fan of his original Game Over thinker videos. He hasn't made one of those in years.
