  • Name: Lac’ner Kineas
  • Age: 17.5
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Alvan/Dragonfolk (Hybrid)
  • Country of Origin: Saorant
  • *Appearance: A lanky young lad with extremely pale skin, likely due to the heavy cloak he always wears over his simple tunic and trousers. Under the cloak, he hides patches of rust colored scales that travel along his spine, collarbone, shoulders, forearms, and knees. In addition, due to his lanky build and early malnutrition, a similarly rust colored tail, long and thinner that most, stays coiled around either his stomach or a leg as the situation requires. He also has dark grey hair that hangs over the left side of his face, one amber colored eye and one red eye, covered by the hair.
    • The inside of the cloak holds many pockets for various herbs, tools, and vials.
  • Personality: Rather reserved and shy, easily flustered.
  • Skills and Abilities: Has the ability to create simple pastes, salves, and poultices with on hand materials. With proper time and tools, he can create intermediate level potions and medicines.
    • He also has access to the dragonfolk's breath weapon, fire in his case due to his father. However, he's untrained in use and can only manage smallish puffs of flame.
  • Backstory:
    • Lac'ner was born of the union between one Velora Kineas and an adventurer who holds the title Ezkarr the Resplendant, a red scaled Dragonfolk. Lac grew up on stories of his father's exploits, but as a result, did not see him often enough. What visits that did occur were brief and often rushed. These soon dwindled to none while his stories grew more extravigant. As a result, Lac'ner felt far inferior to be carrying the blood of someone famous and donned his maroon cloak and hood to hide his draconian features.
    • From age 10, he began learning his mother's trade, medicine making, at her apothecary in the small Saorantian villiage of Veige, helping to treat injuries from the local ironworks. This, in turn, sparked an interest in alchemy, which he began to study alongside medicine in his spare time.
    • Years passed before tragedy struck the small town. Lac's mother falls ill with an unknown illness on the eve of his 17th birthday. The town of Veige rallied and fought to keep her stable, but without dedicated treatment or specialized medication, it didn't look good. It's at this point that Lac makes his choice. He'd set out and become an adventurer himself, sending money from commissions back home to pay for her treatments or, failing that, gain the experience to create a cure himself.
    • Using what little money he had, he catches a coach for the nearest academy, which just so happened to be Ainsworth Academy. Hearing that tuition was cheap and welcoming, he decided to plead his case. In the end, the decision was made to have him attend classes and work with the academy infirmary.
  • Misc: Has a fondness for rabbits "P-Purely scientific...that's all."

  • Name: Aniron Estel, Real Name: Diantha Verboom
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Alvar
  • Country of Origin: Vandia
  • Appearance: Rocking the classic "Elf Adventurer Lady" look
  • Personality: Soft-spoken and reserved but at the same time strong-willed and driven, she fits (or at least tries to fit) the idiom "silk hiding steel". At all times, she attempts to project the image of a proper Vandian lady, who is serene and smiling even in wrath, relentlessly polite and never crass, obedient to her superiors so long as they are worthy of it and strict but fair and kind with those below her in station. The degree to which she has actually succeeded at this is questionable, being the spoiled youngest daughter of important individuals, but she has at least mastered the art of pretending to smile and is generally rather even-keeled and always careful to speak properly. Rather introverted, and although she can be a social butterfly if she absolutely has to, she would really much prefer to curl up with a book or take a nature walk with people she knows than meet new people. Rather gullible, and not at all streetwise aside from harboring suspicion towards people who look like paupers. Loves her family dearly, and practically worships her parents. Very serious about duels and matters of honor. Extremely patriotic, and takes any perceived slight to Vandia personally.
  • Skills and Abilities: Had an education in book learning befitting a high-class Vandian lady from her tutors, albeit in subjects that high-class Vandians thought were important and with history taught from a Vandian perspective. Did very poorly in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, and very well in history. Knows basic high society etiquette for various countries, and of course has memorized the ins and outs of Vandian dueling etiquette. A decent huntress and an excellent shot with a bow and arrow. Can easily identify most plants and animals native to Vandian forests and can decently imitate the bird calls of Vandian birds. Talented singer and player of a native Vandian string instrument. Weak lower body strength, but decent upper body strength (at least for repeated bow-drawing purposes), and good lung capacity. Absolutely terrible at close-range combat. Doesn't know how to swim and scared of large bodies of water. Awful sense of direction.
  • Backstory: Born the youngest of three children (all daughters) to a high-ranking Vandian General and a famous songstress in Kreiss, Diantha Verboom could not but look up to and even idolize her parents and her successful older sisters. Enthralled by her father's war stories and enchanted by her mother's voice, she enthusiastically learned how to hunt from the former and how to sing from the latter, and from both how to be a proper Vandian lady and patriot. In spite of her hero-worship of her father and his exploits, however, Diantha felt a deep-seated desire to travel the wide world and do something different with her life than join the military. Thus, she settled on the career path of an adventurer. Even though she knew that her culture's emphasis on individual achievement meant she ought to be treated no differently than her peers at an adventuring academy in her home country, however, she still harbored some doubts as to whether that would truly be the case. Therefore, she looked abroad for a suitable institution, and by chance came across a flyer for Ainsworth International Adventuring Academy. After some reluctance from her father in particular, she settled on the new Academy for the very fact that no rational person would expect the daughter of a prestigous Vandian general to attend a Terran adventuring school. And so, Diantha Verboom enrolled at AIAA under the name "Aniron Estel". Unfortunately, her terrible sense of direction combined with Rift shenanigans meant that she arrived a little later than most of the student body...

  • Name: Torhild Hedinfal
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Half Alvar/Fenrir
  • Country of Origin: Sigmun
  • Appearance: Merchant adventurer floof extraordinaire
  • Personality: Free spirited, curious and eager to explore and see for herself if the tales she's heard about the world outside of her merchant town are true. Tends to rely on her own experiences and considers rules more rules of thumb unless she understands the reason behind them or has a personal respect for the authority figure in question, but is fiercely loyal to her family, friends and clan and has no patience for those who take pleasure in deceiving and hurting others. Loves treasure both for it's monetary value and for the stories it represents.
  • Skills and Abilities: As a half Fenrir Torhild has inherited the keen ears and eyes of her mother, though her Alvari nose is only a little more sensitive than her father's. A decent markswoman, able to hit a human sized target from over 100 yards away with a musket and agile enough to get herself to prime vantage points, also trained in the basics of self defense with a knife.
  • Backstory:
    • Raised in the somewhat more temperate parts of Sigmun primarily by her Fenrir mother, a travelling merchant who once upon a time was travelling companions with an Alvari adventurer who served as a caravan guard, gradually they became close and eventually settled down in her homelands to give their child a stable home.
    • Once Torhild was older her father began adventuring again, leaving her in the care of her mother and her clan for months at a time and returning again with his earnings to spend time with his family. Torhild loved to listen to his tales of the world and adventure and would often stay up late to hear just one more and beg to go with him on his next trip.
    • On her 15th birthday Torhild's father returned bearing a gift, a firearm developed in Saorant, and a promise that one day when she was old enough he would take her on a journey. After this his time at home included teaching her to use the weapon (responsibly) and to defend herself.
    • Then, 3 years past, her father failed to return home as promised. Nobody knew what happened, but as the months passed it became evident that he likely would never be seen again. Now, Torhild prepares to enter Ainsworth academy in preparation to follow her parent's footsteps as an adventurer and travelling merchant. And although she knows the chances are slim to non-existant, a part of her hopes that by doing so she might learn of her father's fate and, godswilling, find him alive one day.
  • Misc:
    • Is a good cook, though she has a tendency to only sear meats.
    • The Hedinfal name actually comes from her mother and her clan rather than her father's family.

  • Name: Kai'tema Belenus

  • Age: 21

  • Gender: Male

  • Race: Terran/Dragonfolk Hybrid

  • Country of Origin: Terraforma

  • Appearance: Standing at around 5'5", Kai's most telling physical traits are his scales, which shine and gleam like smoothed cabs of labradorite. His eyes are a pale, light-blue gray. His tail possess small ridges going down the back, but is otherwise relatively unremarkable for a Dragonfolk.
As for his choice of attire, he wears a mix of styles, primarily consisting of clothing based on traditional Iaian Dragonfolk attire, and with a touch of Terran flair. It is a somewhat modest set of attire for a dragonfolk, but is perhaps a bit more... 'free' than what most would consider "formal". Somewhat amusingly, the large 'gem' in his belt is actually a creation of reinforced and colored glass. (Image Reference)

  • Personality: Kai'tema could likely be best described as kind, clever, but often rather scatter-brained. He is friendly, but rather disorganized — not in terms of his belongings, but in terms of his thoughts and words. He often paces when he talks, and finds himself unintentionally worrying about things and finding potential problems where there may not truly be any — a problem of which he is aware, but which he is yet unsure of how to entirely handle.

  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Basic Combat Knowledge
    • Basic Exploration Knowledge
    • Basic Magical Knowledge
    • Transmutation Affinity
      • Conceptualization: 'Pneuma' — Kai processes the flow of magic as being one and the same as breath — a view he borrowed from the the Vandian Atemic Sect.
    • Geological Knowledge — Hehehe shiny rOCKS.
    • Metallurgy Knowledge — (See above)

  • Backstory: Kai represents... well, nothing in particular, at least not in terms of the circumstances of his birth. Born to a well-traveled Dragonfolk mother, and a well-learned Terran father, Kai is no stranger to either of his parents. Olee'rae, his mother, made certain to make frequent stops to the town of Ebrus, and was considered an honorary citizen of the town — despite her own origin in the western sands. As for his father, Gaius Belenus was, while no archmage by any stretch of the words, certainly trained in the more arcane side of the world — and from there, Kai picked up the basics of magic for himself. It was while out traveling with his mother in Vandia, however, that Kai found a way of looking at magic that helped him to focus his energy in a way that made sense to him, in the form of the Vandian Atemic Sect's concept of 'pneuma', the idea that breath and magic are one and the same.
Though it clashed with conceptualization he had grown up with, that of 'prismos', a conceptualization of magical energy as an ordered lattice, it fit Kai's overall worldview much more than the more rigid and orderly style of the prismos conceptualization. His father was fairly understanding of this, given that conceptualization of magic is very much an individual process, and he was actually quite proud of his son for having found a way of thinking that resonated with him.
As for why Kai has journeyed to Ainsworth International Adventuring Academy... it wasn't too far of a journey, really — and more importantly, not only would it allow him to further his magical training and adventuring experience, it would also allow him to gather more of his favorite things — shiny objects like gems and coins. His brain, eternally bouncing around in his skull as it was, was very pleased by shiny, clinky things like coins — not for monetary value, mind you, though he certainly enjoyed being able to get food. Rather, it was... moreso because of the fact that these things were shiny. A simple reason to like gold and gems, to be sure, but it works for him.
    ...
That, and he really just wanted to meet new people — and what better way than to check out a new, nearby academy like Ainsworth?

so help me god, i've been roped into this

  • Name: Vivien Solkish
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Dragonfolk/Arctic Fenrir (Hybrid)
  • Country of Origin: A Dragonfolk Homeland on the border between Sigmun and Saorant.
  • Appearance: The fluffy edgelord man looks something like this, though without the wings (and ignore the guy hanging out in the mane, as well). The horns are fake, though, kept on by a hairband under that floof. He stands at a solid 6'6 - 6'7 if you count the sheer fluffiness of his mane - though any potential intimidation factor from that height is immediately negated by his build being somewhat of the "can be snapped in half like a twig" variety. Characteristic of his heritage is, of course, his big mane of fur, which extends down his back in a line and all the way to the tip of his tail. His clothes, though they're sturdy and fit for adventuring, aren't nearly as fancy as they look, with most of the metal bits being made rather cheaply, and the gems being cheap, common ones.
  • Personality: Vivien in his natural habitat is actually a very personable type - somewhat easily flustered and just as easily excitable by the things he enjoys - but at a surface scan, you might not realize it. He projects a much more dislikeable personality, or at least tries as much as he can - the cool, aloof, arrogant ice mage, and all that. It falls apart under scrutiny, though - not least of which due to his projected superiority not exactly being a match with reality. That said, while he takes more closely to his Dragonfolk heritage, he's still taken with him from his Fenrir parent a strong bond with those close to him. Despite his whole schtick, combined with his somewhat bubbly true personality, giving some an impression of naivete on his side, he's actually a surprisingly worldly and grounded type beneath it all.
  • Skills and Abilities: In lieu of any sort of extraordinary strength that one might hope for in an adventurer, Vivien is rather dexterous, and living the life of a wanderer with his father has made him surprisingly good with a knife - though mainly as a tool, moreso than as a weapon. Even still, it's the only thing he's really taken to as a weapon, so it's the closest he comes to having one. Beyond, that, though, he's spent the years since his taking off to freedom and wandering on his own on learning what he can, when he can, absorbing knowledge like a sponge, giving him a broad knowledge on a lot of topics - for his age, at the very least. As a natural consequence of this, he also has some degree of understanding of magic - though his attempts to actually put any of it into practice are… A work in progress, let's say.
  • Backstory:
    • It's funny how the universe conspires towards perversity and irony, that the boy who would aspire to be an ice mage was born on a particularly warm night of July. His father, Aldric - a Dragonfolk hailing from Saorant - never did mean to settle down where he did, but love does strange things to a person. It was on his way through a forested village, a Dragonfolk Homeland on the border of Saorant and Sigmun, that it struck him - a local Fenrir ice mage, one Freja Solkish, who captured his heart. The romance was quick and passionate, and from that came Vivien.
    • Things weren't to last, though. As Vivien grew, so did the divide between his parents, a once ripe union growing sour and toxic - and when he was only six years, his father left to resume his wanderings, and took the young hybrid with him. Through these wanderings, and the traditional Dragonfolk upbringing his father insisted on giving him, he absorbed a lot of Dragonfolk culture - and, secretly, his resentment for his father for leaving grew by the day. It all came to a head when, after an intense confrontation between father and son, Vivien took off - and never came back. At the age of 14, he was wandering on his own.
    • It was in Saorant, then, and less than a year later, that he thought he'd found his calling. Juliana Desrosier, a mage who seemingly took a liking to Vivien, offered to teach him the ways of magic. It was an opportunity of a lifetime, and one Vivien sprung on with untamed enthusiasm. Though, it wasn't as it seemed - though Vivien was never to find out, the mage wanted little more than a legacy and acted cold and distant towards him. It was something that the Dragonfolk never did realize was wrong - owing to his turbulent relationship with his own parents, he'd come to see that distance as normal. When he turned out to be too much of a hassle to shape into the mage's vision of a perfect protégé, he was simply left to wander once again.
    • Through the next years, Vivien got up to all sorts of misadventures - his cheerful, bubbly disposition had brought him more trouble than good, and so he took to presenting himself more seriously, something that in tandem with his obsession with learning magic led to his much more arrogant, aloof persona, itself a reflection of Juliana, and in part, perhaps subconsciously, of his own mother. Among his many stories of this time was his participating in the robbery of a trade caravan between Saorant and Terrafirma, only to make off with nothing but a harvest of purple dye - the local authorities are still on the lookout for the Dye Bandit, though they never did get a good look at him. In the end, he stumbled across a flyer advertising Ainsworth Academy, and seeing the chance to scrape up yet more knowledge and experiences alike, he set out to join it.
  • Misc: Hey look, it's a text color!

  • Name: Zale (ZAH-leh) Xiphias
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Piscean
  • Country of Origin: The Charybdis Sea
  • Appearance: Preliminary drawing is here. Zale is teal blue in color, with darker blue fins and yellow eyes.
  • Personality: Zale has a fiery zeal for life and is optimistic to a fault. Having a strong sense of right and wrong, Zale wants to prove his abilities to be an adventurer. Eager to prove himself and eager to please, Zale attempts to make friends when he can. He's not much of a strategist, but he makes up for it with determination.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • While Zale may not have any formal training, he is youthful, agile and athletic. As the son of a sheepshead farmer, he spent a lot of time doing chores as well as keeping watch for predators that would want to prey on the flock. He has little magical ability to speak of as of yet, though as a Piscean he has a natural potential for water magics.
    • Zale's primary weapon is a spear, which he uses to help defend the flock. He is mostly self-taught, though his father showed him the basics of spear usage. He has never been in a real fight with his spear, but he is proficient in hunting and spearing attacking predators.
  • Backstory:
    • Zale Xiphias was born to a family of sheepshead farmers in the village of Ligea, a small Piscean town in the bay that the Vandians call the Morgen Bight, but the Charybdians call the Bay of Dexamene. Though he spent his childhood and his teenage years taking care of the flock, he aspired for more. He looked up to his local adventurers, the kind that would protect the village of Ligea from more than just wayward dogfish and barracuda. Ones who would fight sea monsters and rescue people in need. He knew that when he turned 18, he would be eligible for one of the many adventurer academies in Menagerie. When he finally came of age, his father gave him a bag of coin and set him on his way.
    • He had never set foot on land before, but he decided to make his way south to the Vandian city of Kreiss. On his way, he made his living doing odd jobs in various villages along the way to Kreiss. Finally, he made it, a real landwalker city! It was larger than he had imagined, and the people seemed intimidating, but at last he finally found advertisements for the various adventurer academies.
    • Most of the advertised academies were far away, but one caught his eye— one advertising for those with little experience. With a new spring in his step and a fire in his eyes, Zale turned his sights east, towards Terraforma, where his destiny awaited!
  • Misc: Nothing else I can think of.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Name: Dubhan Yohanan (AKA: Dubhan Of The Earth)

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Terran

Country of Origin: Saorant

Appearance: Quite tall for his race, Dubhan is a Terran at 5'1", his skin interposed with patches of rock, while it is concentrated around his fists, though his body is smoother and resembles a muscular human with gray skin.

Personality: Dubhan is quite affable and friendly, a social butterfly. He's quite excited about fighting and is usually good sport, but after losing a few times, he'll start getting angry. He also tends to underestimate his opponents.

Skills and Abilities: Dubhan was already a great wrestler, and is good at hand-to-hand combat. His stone composition allows for some durability, which he can enhance with his strength using minor body magic. He's absolutely terrible at magic, knowing only the enhancement. He's also quite skilled in the crowd, being charismatic enough to have crowds cheer for his name.

Backstory: As far as he can remember, the Yohanan family was famous in the wrestling scene. Grandfather to father to son, they drove the crowds wild and fought for sport. However, when the sport began dwindling in viewers, the Yohanan family lost their only means of income. Desperate, they sent Dubhan to the Academy in order to help him make them money. Dubhan is all too happy to, even though he's pretty bad with magic.
