My Hero Academia - Manga Spoiler thread (Untagged spoilers)

Just saying, AFO could totally transfer his own quirk to Deku if he was REALLY spiteful.

It's rather darkly hilarious that USA decides to intervene now, not just at the end of this fight but at the end of this manga (since this seems like it's the last stretch, though we still have Shiggy's business to figure out and some kind of denouement later); doubly so since it's because of their lack of intervention earlier that S&S flew to Japan unauthorized and died for it. Triply so since they then chose to meekly get in line to kiss AFO's feet and not, I dunno, do literally anything else.

But suddenly one extremely fucked-up Japanese teenager does a Forrest Gump and everyone loses their minds.

Grousing aside, this was an alright chapter. Cool that the pilots lived; AFO just erasing them from the sky earlier was definitely something I wasn't happy with. Most of the chapter is the same thing, but it's a thing done really well. I doubt this is the end of the fight though, because Sad For One just made an appearance. But maybe that is the point; this is just a hollowed-out husk of All For One parasitizing Shiggy's body than anything else. The real fight will be inside.

That the US is deciding to go in now, might mean that the chaos AFO ignited in the States lost its momentum upon witnessing the humiliating defeat of his actual body on live television, broadcast live, all around the world.

AFO's cred will never recover from that defeat.

AFO literally was revealed to be a manchild on live TV. Heck, all the young heroes barely know who he is because of how he ruled from the shadows and Japan erased him from the books.

BTW, I remembered I posted a Silvermane rewind bit, as part of a post while I was going through the Final War arc.

Good times.

This chapter was really heartwarming. I love when the series focuses on the fact that Midoriya's strength (and what makes him different from Allmight) is his willingness to show weakness.

And now we know how Deku became the greatest hero. He had already done it by the time that sentence was narrated.

Time for one last inner struggle and then we're done, I think.

I would say that what makes one a true hero is if they have the three vital components of a living being.

The brawn to fight back.

The brains to think deeply.

And the heart to show compassion and truth.

And he is doing all of this now while dressed as if he's just walking down the street on a Saturday morning too!

We are right back where he started with Bakugo and the Sludge Villain, everyone. Saving a young man in need from a monster trying to take the hostage over.

Except this time, everyone present pitch in to help!

It's a bit disappointing that Ochako is sitting the big finale out and we're not getting that shot of her catching a falling Deku.

AFO: Heed my words! Light will never exist without creating shadows and darkness. More will follow in my steps, you will never know peace from evil for long, that I promise you. Villains will haunt your successors long after this class is dead and buried.......UGGHHHH!!!!

Considering Bakugo is nowhere to be seen, my guess is that he will be the one catching Deku, paying him back from saving him from the Sludge villain in chapter 1.

I think Ochako and Bakugo will still show up. Almost everyone else has.

Please, end this arc with a Big Damn Kiss, Hori!

Monkey's paw: Neito kisses Uravity at the end and they become a couple.

No! That's as bad as raw garlic cloves dropped into a cup of freshly brewed coffee moments before drinking it!

Okay okay, Neito kisses Deku and they become a couple. Uravity can hook up with Mina.

No, I'm not elaborating.

Speaking off, what DID Mina do during this entire arc again?

Corroded Machia's hand with acid and slammed the Sludge Villain to save Shinso?

She fought the gas mask guy that killed Midnight, saved Shinzo from the Sludge Villain, and saved Mt. Lady from Giganto.

Nicely emotional climax, though I am concerned about how exactly Shiggys story is gonna conclude now. I hope the story is not seriously gonna try to shift the blame for everything bad he ever did to AFO now.

And the American president finally got his shit together right when all the villains have been beaten, impeccable timing there. Well at least the Western heroes can help with rebuilding now I guess.

When the Americans finish teleporting there they're the next source of conflict cause they wanna murder Shiggy.

Chapter 423: One For All vs. All For One

The chapter begins with AFO saying that he found it weird that the regeneration wasn't healing his body. In addition to that, each hero's hostility came together to confuse danger sense and "hide" Deku's presence

This shows that his body is exhausted and his mental state has never been worse due to Yoichi's "death". Deku remembers All Might saying that OFA would make a weak body explode and tells AFO that he directly received the power cultivated by the nine users

AFO's body begins to crumble and some heroes think the fight is over, but AFO uses various quirks to keep himself together. He says that he hasn't achieved anything yet and that he can't die, because the demon lord is absolute and he has to fulfill his dream

He says he just has to start all over again, like he did with Shigaraki. In other words, he just needs to transfer the All For One quirk to Midoriya or some other hero and take over their body. He then approaches Deku, but Kurogiri moves...

Mic shouts "Shirakumo!" and he replies "Shouta, Yamada... I'm sorry, but I have to go. I need to protect Tomura Shigaraki". He opens a portal between Deku and AFO and Mic cries, saying that Shirakumo always reaches out to those who need help

Shirakumo: "All For One, give Shigaraki back. His friends are waiting for him". Kurogiri starts to disappear but, at the last second, Bakugou appears and propels the deku with his explosions. Mic says that he should be in the hospital, but he flew there with his quirk

Bakugou says that Shoto made an ice ramp for him to get up there. "Be careful or else I'll end up surpassing you, Izuku!". Deku says that he'll never forgive AFO, but that he's not an incomprehensible monster or a demon lord. Deep down, he's just a very lonely man

We then see AFO talking to a flame that represents Yoichi. He says that Midoriya's last punch transferred the last ember of OFA, that is, the last fragments of Yoichi — the quirk itself. AFO says he doesn't care about that, he just wants to see Yoichi's face

Yoichi says that he failed to take his brother in the right direction, but now Midoriya is allowing both Shigaraki brothers to finally rest. AFO starts shouting, saying that he won't allow it, that he loves Yoichi and needs him by his side

Yoichi says that it's time for AFO to pay for the crime of using so many people and that they're not alone in there. Next, we see all the OFA users + Shigaraki coming out of the shadows and a full page of Deku and Tomura punching AFO's vestige

The vestige disappears and Deku and Tomura's hands touch. Tomura says that he thought he had been completely swallowed by AFO this time, but Nana's vestige connected with him and prevented him from disappearing. He then says "Kurogiri..." and we see the last bits of him

He says that even though he briefly got his body back, he didn't managed to destroy anything. Midoriya was right, deep inside he was just a crying boy — and that's why he couldn't destroy Deku's hands

Deku says he continued to fight because he couldn't forgive what Shigaraki had done, but also because he wanted him to stop - he wanted the sadness to be over. "Izuku Midoriya, if Spinner is still alive tell him this: Tomura Shigaraki fought to destroy until the very end

Deku says that he managed to destroy what he really needed to. The last page goes back to the real world and reveals that Shigaraki's body has been completely destroyed and turned into dust. The rain has finally stopped and the sun is shining. End of chapter

Huh, well what a fitting end to Shigaraki.

He pulled a Darth Vader and tossed AFO down a mineshaft.

But fuck, I knew AFO would try to pull a Superior and attempt to transfer his quirk to Deku.

You know, Something Awful was complaining about how AFO was treated as pure evil despite his backstory while Shiggy wasn't. Glad to see that was addressed.

I'm just glad I managed to catch up with y'all before the ending came out.

So Shigaraki is dead. That's it, the end of his game with Deku. How strange, I fully expected him to survive and be in jail, but they actually killed him off.

Well unless someone rewinds him, or clones him but either way, he's dead. No fake outs, no more loose ends, Toga is dead, Mr. Compress lost his butt, Dabi is cooked, Spinner is a raging beast who can be put down or jailed, AFO is dead, and Shigaraki's villainous ambitions are turned to dust.

I look forward to seeing what new evil will attack our heroes, but for now, enjoy the peace.
