I haven't seen the movie, but I love their design. I wrote that Big Fun example for them on the Characters page.
I also think their song is unironically good.

He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing.been watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and I genuinely like Wesley. Even the parts of our YMMV page that weren't written by annoyed Caustic Critics in 2009 act like he's unbearable in season 1 and only gets better later, but I'm still in season one and I think he's just a fun little guy
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?I honestly didn't think the version of Taskmaster shown in Black Widow (2021) was that bad. She's not quite as interesting as her comic book counterpart, and I do agree that she does sort of feel like a rehash of characters like Bucky/Winter Soldier, but I thought her Ditto Fighter combat moves were fairly unique and she had a pretty sad backstory. I feel like she definitely has the potential to become a more interesting character later if they choose to bring her back.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.Back when my Sonic special interest/hyperfixation combo was at its strongest, I was absolutely obsessed with Zavok. I didn't really get the "he's popping up in way more stuff now for some reason even though we don't like him!" complaints from the rest of the fanbase, because since I liked him I saw that as a net positive more than anything.
I think being obsessed with Zavok back then irreversibly impacted my taste in fictional characters.
While I'm on the topic of Sonic scrappies, I'm thinking about Infinite again. I don't know what the fandom expected out of him, but "Chuunibyou jackal that threw a bitchfit and became evil after getting called a stinkyhead" is way more entertaining than Mephiles 2: Mephiles Harder or whatever they actually wanted.
Dunno if this holds true still, or even counts, but I don't remember Iono being warmly received in the promotional material. I, on the other hand, found her to be extremely endearing, in a "Yes, this is indeed what streamers are like, copious cringe. Do I care? Naaaah, it's very on brand" sort of way. Not really a solid favorite then, but I have warmed up to her even more since.
This one's more of a Hate Sink than a Scrappy but... somehow, I just couldn't bring myself to hate Streibough. It held true for my first run, and for every subsequent playthrough of Live A Live I did to get new footage. Sure, what he did was incredibly fucked up to say the least, but... I don't know. What he says when you find him in the Trial of Heart reads less to me like denial and more like the fallout of what he did is really starting to hit him. Like. He knows he fucked up but isn't exactly in a position to do anything to fix it. I'm probably going to get DESTROYED for this...
FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Fate/Samurai RemnantI will one up you by saying I actually like the Princess on Live A Live. Sure she was terrible but and I did use to hate her but then I saw she saw what her decisions had caused and felt EXTREMELY bad about it.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.People don't really seem to care for him or his cartoons all that much, but I still think that Hippety Hopper is entertaining.
He/they | Mostly here on my free daysIt seems like most people dislike King Dedede's redesign in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. While I haven't played the game yet, based on what I've seen in trailers and stuff, I love it.
I don't know how people feel about his Triple Deluxe design, but it never sat right with me. His eyes are too far apart, and it looks so weird to me.
The KATFL design, though, I love how his eyes are closer together, and his beak is rounder. I love the Club Penguin-iness of it all.
He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing.It feels like they feel some need to redesign Dedede's face in nearly every game he's in, which I've never really been super into. I guess most of the Kirby mainstays have had their designs evolve gradually over the years, but it feels particularly noticeable with Dedede.
Ever wanted to see the most inexplicably horrifying intro to a game ever?Okay the entire show is hatted so let me say, Velma herself at least looks nice to me on that Dumpster fire HBOMax is calling a reboot.

I mean, from what I've seen most people aren't hating on that show for the animation either, just the awful writing.
A great Mascot Mook.Speaking of Scooby, I think Scrappy is overhated and wish that more would be done with him outside of nasty jokes at his expense.
I agree. I like her design. That's the only good thing about the whole show.
On a different subject, I like Rextro Sixtyfourus. I don't know how disliked the character himself is, but I know his minigames were unpopular enough with the fanbase that he got left out of the sequel. I didn't care much for most of them either, but I love his design, voice and personality.
A great Mascot Mook.x3 I so agree with that one, Scrappy gets way too much hate.
I'm also sick of seeing of seeing parodies where he's treated awfully. He's honestly became more of a woobie for me because of how many mean spirited moments he's been put into.
Meet the Tamas!◊ This is where it will end, by my hand.I like the Stus. I do agree that they're too cute to be enemies, but that same cuteness is what makes them endearing to me. Just a neat lil' guy. They don't feel like a Replacement Scrappy post Sunshine because you already know that they don't show up again.
Sandbox help wanted.I think the gag with Mindynote in the Sinnoh Pokémon games is p. funny and she gets too much visceral hate.
Still hate her and I haven't even played that game.
I don't completely hate Sebastian's redesign for the Little Mermaid remake. I love sea life, so I kind of enjoy seeing a semi-realistic crab, especially as a heroic character. I think his little eyes are cute.
The only part I don't like is his mouth. It definitely falls into the Unintentional Uncanny Valley for me. I wish they had just given him some little crabby mandibles.
I'm scared to see what he'll look like with his mouth open. Please, Disney, don't put teeth in a semi-realistic crab.
...Despite the positive aspects of his design, though, I'm still not looking forward to the movie. Disney has not had a great track record with their live-action remakes.

He may be a giant, nightmarish brute, but like all villains in this series,he sure can sing. While a lot of people hate Dr. Marvin Monroe (his own voice actor included, because the voice was really straining), I honestly didn’t think his voice was that annoying.
Of course, I still think it was best to retire him if the voice was becoming that much of a problem for Harry Shearer.

He/they | Mostly here on my free daysI also don't mind the new Sebastian, mostly because he looks like one of the Crab Rave crabs and it's very amusing.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Candy from Smile Pre Cure might be The Scrappy or at least a Base-Breaking Character, but I find her cute and funny, personally, though I will admit she's overexposed. She also has an appealing design.
Oh, I believe in yesterdayI actually like the Duck Hunt dog and I have no clue why. I guess I just kinda found him cute.
...I-it's been a while, hasn't it?
I'm surprised that Devon and Cornwall are listed as The Scrappy on the YMMV page of Quest for Camelot because they were one of the few things I liked (and remember) about the movie.
"Hey, gimme a minute to get to know everyone, 'kay, Brainy?" "Of course, but please allow me to get a word in, too, bzz."
