So, how many people have heard of this game, or played it? To clarify, this game is not a prequel to DDLC. It is a predecessor. Which means that it did many of the same things that DDLC did, but a few years before DDLC came out. Different stories made by different people though.

I felt it would be a good idea to mention DDLC in the title so that people unfamiliar with You and Me and Her (also known by some people as Totono) would have a better idea of what to expect from this game, since the title doesn't really tell you. And even the marketing for the game comes off as pretty innocuous. Without getting into specifics, I'll just say that this game features many of the same elements that DDLC does. Although, an argument could be made that this game does it better. You and Me and Her is a much longer and more fleshed out story. It gives you enough time to actually get attached to the characters before things... start going in different directions.

To give a basic, non-spoiler synopsis of the plot; the protagonist of the story is Shinichi, a mild mannered but insecure guy in high school. The other two leads are Miyuki, a popular girl in school who has feelings for Shinichi, but won't admit it. And the third is Aoi, a strange, seemingly emotionless girl who claims that the world they live in is a video game. The three of them form a friendship, which turns into a love triangle. That's all I'm going to say about the plot. Unless maybe someone specifically asks for spoilers. What I described so far is only a small part of the story.

One more thing I should mention, is that this game does contain sex scenes. Outside of Japan, the scenes are uncensored. Except on Steam. The Steam version of the game had the sex scenes removed, and some of the dialogue outside of the sex scenes altered. The sex scenes do contain some plot and character relevant information/development, but the censored version attempts to work around this. Here is the Steam version: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1293820/YOU_and_ME_and_HER_A_Love_Story/

If you buy the steam version, there is a separate patch you can buy to uncensor the game. I won't link to it though, because it might violate rules.

So, does anyone have any questions or comments about this game?

I kind of regret referencing DDLC in the thread title now. Since there is now a thread about a DDLC mod next to this one, it means people are more likely to overlook this thread. Maybe I should have just said its a romance game with horror/meta elements.

Speaking of mods though, I would be curious if there are any mods for this game. I know its unlikely, but I would be interested.

Dead thread is dead, but I actually really like You and Me and Her. Both meta and Lovecraftian horror usually don't do a whole lot for me, but the way this game combines the two is fascinating in a way that's hard for me to articulate without getting into spoiler territory.

I do think Aoi's role in the plot outside of being a walking deconstruction of eroge heroines tends to get ignored though (at least on this wiki) considering she's the one who first "updates" the universe in order to make Miyuki a romanceable character, which inadvertently kicks off Miyuki's descent into madness after discovering that this means she can only be happy with Shinichi/the player, and so on and so forth. I think knowing that goes a long way in understanding both of their characters and it's a shame it doesn't get talked about more. But maybe that's just me.

Unpopular opinion: I hated Miyuki by the end of the game. I understand there were extenuating circumstances. But I felt the evil of her actions outweighed whatever sympathetic qualities she had. I think this is a good game, but it seems like maybe an important part of the game's story didn't really work for me, since I know you're supposed to sympathize with Miyuki.
