Here's a trailer.
Anyone else reminded of Final Space?
Also, is that cat guy supposed to be a kzinti?
Probably a Caitian (like M'Ress), if only to avoid any rights issues with Larry Niven's estate.
Edit: Okay, didn't know he was still around, but he is — he's 82.

Less than 12 hours in and they already shut down comments and hid the like/dislike ratio note . That pretty much says it all.
Yes, it says that CBS doesn't like it that hordes of the general public that don't care about Trek to begin with shit on their trailer when it shows up as trending.
I can imagine that a good chunk of dedicated trek fans wouldn't like it. The general vibe that I got from the trailer just didn't feel like Star Trek, like at all.

Would you say it's like a knockoff version of Rick And Morty or Solar Opposites (since the showrunner worked on those shows)?
I'd say it seems more like a knockoff of Final Space, that's why I compared the two earlier.
The general impression I'm getting of the fandom as an outsider is that Trek fans don't like anything by default until at least 15 years after release.
Yeah, as one of those deeply entrenched nerd fanbases, Star Trek is one of those groups that tends to hate everything new on principle, loves to feel validated whenn those new things have flaws they can exaggerate, and only come to accept or enjoy said new things after the fact. Much like the Star Wars fanbase.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. No doubt at lot of trekkies will absolutely hate that this is a comedy. Personally I think it's about damn time. The franchise, as well as a lot of fans, need to learn to take themselves less seriously from time to time.
Or maybe, the Trekkies and the general public have a point.
This looks to be just another modern cartoon with an eye-sore art style and a very daft style of humour.
And this opinion is coming from a casual watcher who is familiar only with the films.
I mean maybe, and believe me I'm not one to side with fandoms these days for how absolutely vicious they can be before something even has a chance to establish itself, or how they are stop letting it be about the product and begin attacking actors and creators and show their worst sides.
That being said....lets at least see how it'll be first. Sometimes those things that look poor can be better than we realize.
God knows I'm sick of good concepts failing and then the people who cheered for it suddenly saying oh man! It was so good! Why'd they cancel it?
If it airs and is actually bad, then ok. Fine, cancel it and then move on....instead of making hundreds of youtube videos about how bad it is and spreading more negativity.
One Strip! One Strip!100% this, which tends to be far more common nowadays in the age of video essays.
It's different yeah, but if the fan comparison to Final Space is accurate enough, it might actually work as an experimental dramedy take on the franchise?
That being said, I'm still eager to see anything new coming from that animated Star Trek series from Nick.
Don't see what everyone's fussing about this time, because I saw that trailer just now and it looks like a blast and a half!
I'm cautiously optimistic. I like the idea of a humorous Animated Star Trek show. I also like the design of the Cerritos better than Discovery or La Sirena.
I actually like the trailer.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadActually I like it too! I hope this is better than both Rick And Morty and Final Space, which are good but really flawed.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here. From what I've seen, I get the feeling that this show is not ment to be taken seriously and everyone is taking this FAR too seriously.
It's like Rick And Morty had a prom night dumpster baby with Final Space. Horrible.
Well, series creator Mike Mc Mahan works on Rick And Morty.
I wouldn't know. The link here doesn't work (not available) and when I went to check on youtube, all I saw were reaction videos.
One Strip! One Strip!
