Oh yeah, all those EFAP guys are unbearably pompous, holier-than-thou pieces of shit and so are their fans and associates. Fellas, just admit your hatred for women and minorities is the basis for your entire taste in media and be done with it. And maybe don't make all your videos multiple hours long.

Reading that guys page

Relating to this, the idea that art (be it books, movies, video games, etc.) cannot be objectively assessed of quality and can only be judged subjectively gets torn apart savagely. While Mau Ler admits feelings are part of the process of critiquing, in his view even something that's able to invoke powerful feelings in the viewer (positive or negative) can be judged using logic and facts and be found wanting if it's filled with plot holes, fallacies, or breaks its own established canon rules. He states often that you can like something, and still find problems with it.

First of all, written-by-a-fanboy alarm ahoy, but also, lmao at the idea that people's emotional responses to a work can be "judged using facts and logic" when the whole thing is that individual people have different emotional responses based on their own subjective experience and taste.

Mauler's style of critique (which is subjective but it's propped up by some groups who seek validation for media they like/dislike) doesn't work because he treats it as a one size fits all. Not to mention that what people value in media changes all the time.

In his 12 hour Force Awakens analysis, he states, "visuals age but writing does not." Which is a dumb thing to say.

Not to mention, like Jack points out, a lot of Mauler's standards don't hold up. Either because;

He's ignorant on some things (Saying a salt planet is stupid because it's as silly as a jelly planet despite salt being a natural mineral)

Massively hypocritical (Stating that the teenagers defeating the Fire Nation is stupid even though he likes media like Buffy who defeats ancient threats despite being a teenager herself.)

Or picking out inconsequential details (complaining that Wakanda doesn't look "modern" because it has straw huts.)

Mauler has made the response to Jack's video but I don't think anyone here would watch a half day stream where Mauler and friends plays Jack's video, cuts him off mid-sentence before finishing a point, ramble and meander for minutes, play the video, rinse and repeat.

Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves.

A video by Jack on the reality game show inspired by the Netflix series Squid Game. Jack spends 39 minutes discussing why the show's mere existence spits on the original series' themes on capitalism, class and worker exploitation, as well as covering the terrible conditions the players were subjected to.

Oh hey, another entry in the "expose YouTube video essay plagiarists" saga.

This time, Jack looks into British video essayist Moon (not to be confused with a lawyer channel by a similar name). They've gotten somewhat popular with churning out pop-culture centric videos that are also laced with manosphere and anti-woke reactionary rtheoric.

Moon's also got a bit of a streak of plagiarising other video essays to keep up with demand, which happens to hit Jack this time. Moon took Jack's pessimistic pre-release reaction to the recent Wonka film (which he has since changed his mind), and repurposed Jack's content to push his usual talking points.

Huh, I had that channel recommended to me a few times. The thumbnails were enough for me to nope the fuck away, though. Seems like I didn’t miss anything.

After watching the entire vid I was like… There are still people who talk about the "New World Order" with a straight face? I thought that thing had died in 2012. >.>

And it’s so weird that he uploads this style of old-fashioned conspiracy fever dream next to relatively conventional movie reviews…

As a wrestling fan, I can't take the phrase seriously for other reasons.

I keep expecting Klaus Schwab to come out to "Waka wa hey hey" whenever he gives a speech because of these people.
