Sue

"I know, right? There's gotta be all sorts of crazy shit here! Like, maybe a bigass forest with werewolves or something! Like in the movies!"

The more Sue talked to Ryan, the more she liked him. This was maybe the first person she'd met here that was anywhere close to her wavelength. Lucy wasn't bad (probably), but Ryan was speaking her language.

Iona Bassano - Class DY

"Ah, thank you!"

She gave an appreciative nod towards Miguel, bringing up her legs to sit cross-legged on the beanbag chair. Muscles relaxed almost instantly, tension flowing out in one deep breath. Warm, soothing energy pulsed and waned inside her, breaking into the world as ash-white mist, radiating the calming, comforting sensation of serene chi outwards. The world was now so clear in her ears, on her skin, on her nose...though she tried to ignore some of the more pungent-smelling members in the class.

"This is my power. I harness the life energy inside all living things called chi. Or nen, or ki, or chakra, as it's known by other names."

"Yeah, that'd be awesome! Who knows what'd all be in the forest..." Ryan crossed his arms and smiled, thinking about all the adventures that could be had just going around the area. Chances were going by how the school was, there'd be some kinda crazy stuff going on. And if Ryan couldn't get the athletic team stuff going right now, maybe he could do some exploration.

"You up to join me for some exploration around the place after school hours? Maybe we could get some friends together for a full on expedition!"

Oh thank god...

Someone else had approached, and their comparatively more mellow demeanour seemed to draw Sue's attention away from her. She sighed in relief, and slumped back a little. Though now they were right on top of her. Not at a comfortable distance. She bit her lip, and quietly slunk away. Without even standing up. It was more of a discreet shuffle than a smooth movement. She aimed towards the one who had the guitar. She seemed to be the quiet sort as well.

“U-Um... hey...” she mumbled, giving her a friendly attempt at a smile before drawing her knees up and hugging them to her chest. This was a much better spot, actually. Full view of the room. Though right next to the teacher's desk...

Oh, right. People.

“I-I'll move if you want, just needed to...” she began, before pursing her lips and nodding towards Ortrun. “Y'know. Um... wh-what's your name, though...?”

I just said I'd move.

She might be nice.

She might be horrible.

Well I don't know yet.

Not worth the risk.

It is to me.

“I-I mean not if... not if you don't want to...” she amended, tugging at one of the loose strands of hair that dangled out from within her hoodie. “I-I can just go if... if you want...”

"Hell yeah! It'd be just like home! We could swing through the trees and beat the shit up of any creepy crawlies, then get ourselves bit in the ass before having to suck out the poison which trust me is no fun, then have to turn back because of dysentery and gorge ourselves silly on bananas before we do it all over again!"

There was a long silence where she slowly realized the sheer absurdity of her statement. "Or maybe that's just me? Whatever. Sure it'll still be fun!"

"♬The brave explorers lock eyes. They make their brave trek no goodbyes...♬" Ortrun stared in confusion when Sue charged Lucy, and muted sympathy watching Lucy just endure. She just had to watch though. She didn't really have any ideas on what to do about it.
And then Ryan came along and Ortrun just stared after looking over both her shoulders three times each. Oh, he was talking to all of us... she finally got after he and Sue had settled to chat.
It was when she realized that she'd run out of song that she switched to improvising. Thus, the horrible lyrics and decent strumming. At least she'd half-spoken half-sung that so low that only people right next to her would really hear the 'lyrics'.
It was either that or thinking about her faux-pax. She had completely ignored the TA when she walked in. And he in turn went over everyone's files with the other students and ignored her. Hope that does not get back to the teacher...
"♬I gotta jump. But I'm comfy on my ru—Lucy!" Ortrun prided herself on being able to play without focus. Twas second nature. Improvising lyrics was another thing. The girl was just there. She stared for a couple beats, her hands still playing more or less autonomously before she finished processing what Lucy had said while she was distracted.
"Oh, hey. Mo its fine..." she hmmed a moment, eyes looking every witch way. "♬This spot isn't just mine. Ortrun is my name. What miss is thy game?♬" It didn't even make sense to her. It was just the only English follow up that she could come up with.

“...Ortrun...” Lucy echoed, testing out the name and peering at the girl with a mild look of amusement at her dedication to singing out her answer. Even if the last part... made no sense. “I... don't know what you mean by... game. And you've– oh. You've... heard my name.”

...The f$&% am I supposed to–

“H-have you been playing... f-for long...?” she stammered out, seeming to frown with confusion at her own question before shaking her head and deciding to just go with it. “The um... the guitar, I mean...?”

Better lyrics than me, anyways.

That's not hard.

Mm. She's better at improv, I mean...

The ink on her form shifted a fraction, but she suppressed it from moving any further. It wanted to ripple, but she wouldn't let it. Like holding hack a shiver. The spike of psychic activity was noticeable, though. At least to those inclined. A slight rise in output from her person, before it settled back down again into idle psionic humming.

...It's a nice room, at least...

Stay focused.

"Ortrun," said Ortrun echoed again, nodding. "Its German, and not really common there either. There as in Germany not in 'German'. Not that I think you're stupid. I just thought that was unclear. Sorry."
"I just kinda..." Ortrun waved her hand as if that would crank the answer out of her. "Lost my footing. However you call that when you lose your footing like your voice's footing." Also a phrasing she had trouble recalling, and that simile sounded worse than just leaving it.
"But, I have been playing since childhood," after a beat she added. "Since earlier childhood. Before Kindergarten. My mom and dad love the family band idea. And colors. And beanbags. This room looks just like I walked into their cabin. Oh sorry." Ortrun held her face. She'd gone right off on a tangent. "Sorry, If I disturbed you. Instruments just seemed to fit with this scene."

“I-It does fit...” Lucy nodded in agreement, shifting slightly in interest to the other girl's recounting. Now that she mentioned it, the room did have that sort of vibe. Homely. “And it's fine. I'm actually um... I like that sorta thing. Y'know, just... hearing about people. It doesn't disturb me or anything, trust me,” she shrugged.

Lucy promptly filed Ortrun under the ‘nice to talk to’ category. Which was a very vacant category, the more she thought about it. Still, one step at a time... or more the merrier. Whichever one it was.

“...um, I...” she paused, poking her fingers together a moment before continuing, “...I used to... play piano? For a while, it just... kinda slipped away from me. Y'know, c... circumstances. My brother knows guitar...” she realised in a more absentminded tone, before shaking her head and smiling at Ortrun. “Nevermind. Probably boring you...”

We're a lump of fun, aren't we?

Mm. Shouldn't say that...

The hooded girl seemed content to just fall into silence at this point, mutely watching the others mill about and talk amongst themselves. Her breathing was finally leveling out, at least. She was getting used to the atmosphere. She realised her ink hadn't reached adversely so far.

She hoped this was a good sign.

"No problem" Miguel said to Iona. At least, that was a good first impression, somewhat. He simply took a deep breath, raising his gloved left hand and his hand got set on fire. But he didn't even flinch.

"For those interested, I am Miguel Diaz, and I control fire" He said. "For safety, keep some distance" With that, he clenched a fist and the fire was extinguished.

Wake me up at your own risk.

"!" Ortrun made a sound more appropriate for a mouse than a young adult let alone a student hero. He set his hand on fire! Stay back for safety, yeah. Also he controls fire? Its not like combustion produced gears or muscle. By what method? If I could just get him under a microscope, maybe get a scraping of...
"Oh, Oh!" Ortrun caught up again from where she'd been sidetracked. "No! Ignore that. You're not boring! I would really like to ask you about your piano playing without having suspect motives but I don't think I can..." She stared for a beat before exhaling. "I mean, I was distracted, which is not your fault and I think this school has at least one piano. They're everywhere. Not like air, but..." She made a meaningless gesture just moving her hands. How the heck did I end up comparing pianos to air? "like pianos in old buildings..." After a beat she finally added. "Like stairs."

Suspect motives? Huh? Pianos in... stairs– no, old buildings– what?!

“Uhhh...” Lucy stared without actually articulating any words, her voice carrying on despite her before she shook her head and reddened a little from embarrassment. “I-I mean I get it... yeah. I... I think... y-you're saying there might be one lying around somewhere... like in old buildings...”

Which would... probably be cleared out.

“...o-or stairs...”

Like in any building.

...Oh. She was doing it too.

Lucy drew in a breath, clasping her hands over her knees and idly tapping her index fingers together before shifting again. This time she managed to sit relatively upright on her beanbag, and was now actually at around level height to Ortrun. Which was better. She gave the latter a nervous smile as she brushed away at that same irritating lock of hair, and had half a mind to pull down her hood before remembering the rest of the room had people in it.

...Eh. Not yet. She wasn't even sure if anyone had seen her face properly barring the aforementioned sidelocks hanging down from her hoodie. They probably needed a cut. And she was overthinking again...

What was that? Oh, someone set their hand on fire. That was weird. She wasn't the fastest reactor but her mind was clearly straying elsewhere. Desperately trying to keep this rare example of a nice conversation with someone up, she glanced at Ortrun again for a fleeting moment before her eyes fell back towards her lap.

“S-So you um... i-is this your first time doing... something like this, or...?”

Vague.

Hold on, I got this...

“I-I mean in... superhero stuff,” she swallowed, furrowing her brows slightly as she mentally reviewed the coherency of her last few sentences before deciding it wasn't worth it. “I-I've done a little before, I mean... v-vigilante stuff... don't know if that's... really weird or not...”

She was honestly completely out of the loop in regards to this. She'd gone from Newport in a depressive season to WHEEE SUPERHEROES in what felt like an hour. Granted it wasn't that but her brain was just as tuckered out as if it had been. She wasn't sure what was even real anymore.

So of course as if to mock her, she felt that cold clawed hand gripping into her shoulder at that precise moment—the frigid breath of that thing she refused to look at creeping slowly into her ear.

She shivered a little, but didn't let herself acknowledge it. There was enough going on anyhow.

Once again, the boy seemed to have information she hadn’t volunteered. Information she’d rather not think about, let alone share. A grimace settled onto her face.

“I don’t know how you’re doing that, but could you not? It’s creepy.”

She noticeably winced after saying that. That didn’t come across as rude, did it? She wanted her classmates to like her!

“Err... that is, I’m not trying to be mean! Really! It’s just, that stuff is in the past, and I want to live in the present! Because, uh, it’s, you know! A second chance at life!”

She flushed with embarrassment at how poorly she’d handled that.

Inusuke

So many interesting people.

So many interesting smells.

Inusuke wondered who he should approach first, chewing on his seal nervously as he made his way into the school. He was a great deal taller than most everyone at this place. He hoped he didn't scare anybody. He stroked the hilt of his Blue Moon Fang meditatively as he walked into the classroom. Perhaps this would be a good fresh start.

He grunted a greeting and bowed deeply and politely to who were presumably his classmates, finger-spelling {INUSUKE} and then pointed at himself, nodding.

Milos

Milos knew the first step toward establishing a relationship with your peers was to make a lasting first impression that would set the tone for the future of their possible relationship. So it might have struck his various classmates as odd when an all too tall and thin young man came into the classroom with a chair and desk floating behind him, setting down in the classroom pointed away from the front board. Once both were down Milos sat down on the desk and put his feet up on the chair too look forward. "Its honestly more comfortable this way," he promised anyone within earshot, stretching out his body. The energy in this room wasn't exactly chaotic enough for him to express any long term powers, but he had enough of a tank from his time outside to last him enough for one or two tricks afterward.

Skye smiled. "I knew it." He waved to them both. "Hello, Inusuke. Hello, Milos." He tilted his head. "You had a wealthy family? That's nice. I've always wondered what it would be like to be rich."

The aching in his limbs spiked, and Skye winced. Overuse. It wasn't as bad as it could get, but it was easier to stop here. Breathing deeply, he waited for the pain to fade.

Milos

It seemed like someone was attempting to one up his showmanship, or rather it could be said that they were deflecting and acting like his wonderful step into the spotlight wasn't anything of interest. What a boring sort of person, but even in this there was enough of the actors spirit dancing in Milos to play along. "You see that is an interesting question, but it leads to multiple questions. For one does my family having money make me rich, for it isn't my wealth or even something I have access to. And beyond that your use of the past tense is interesting, 'had' a wealthy family implies either my family lost wealth, I lost my family, or a threat toward either my family fortune or my physical family itself." he put a hand to his mouth in a showish display of shock. "Such evil ambitions after just the first meeting, have I wrongly stepped foot in a school for villains and monsters such that my innocent and snow white soul will be consumed by the inky dark of vile villainy?" he collapsed back on the desk, putting his arm across his forehead.

"Woe is me, for all of my innocence is torn asunder by devilish intent and questions as to my own morality. But what is morality in this pitch black world? Just an ideal to hold close, or a curtain to be put over the light of the morning? Is the answer within ourselves, or for the eyes of society to judge?" all at once he stood up, the desk rotating around to face the front of the class before stepping down into the seat, sitting with is legs crossed and an unamused expression on his face. "My family is old money, don't judge me to harshly. Have a gift card to Applebees." he took a plastic card out of his pocket and tossed it toward Skye.

Ryan stared for a little while at Sue's story. Much as he was feeling distinctly weirded out by it and the fact it sounded like that actually happened to her, down to the grossest detail, he did admit it was pretty genuine. And he appreciated the fact she was this unabashed.

"Uhh yeah...that sounds like quite something to live through." Ryan awkwardly chuckled and then looked around. Seemed more students were showing up, so he decided he might as well share by now some other details. Like powers.

"So uh, Sue, what are your powers like?"

"Thank you," Skye said simply, picking up the card. "You're rather dramatic. No matter what I said, you had an overly flowery response." He paused, then smiled slightly. "It was adorable, in a way."

It was also, he decided not to mention, rather villainous. Usually, villains did all the grandstanding and monologues—heroes preferred to get down to combat. But if grandstanding and such made Milos happy, Skye wouldn't take that away from him.

“Inu... suuky?” Was that right? She thought that was what that spelled. Look of concentration exchanged for her cheerful smile, she continued on the assumption that she was correct.

Sue

"'Powers'?" Oh, right. That super special stuff everyone did. Most of her stuff was just something everyone in the jungle could do. That said, she did have some stuff that was a cut above. "That's easy!"

Sue took a couple small hairs from her head. She blew them at Ryan, almost like a kiss, before both of them vanished in a puff of smoke. Only to be replaced with exact copies of Sue. They all whipped out a long red staff from seemingly out of thin air before smashing them into the floor, leaving a helluva dent. Like someone pounding a massive hammer as hard as they could. She waved a hand and the clones disappeared, turning back into the hairs they started as.

"Oh, and I can do this too." Snapping their fingers, a small cloud appeared from under her. She zipped around the room, squealing at the top of her lungs like on a rollercoaster before skidding towards the ground, the cloud disappearing in a huff. "FUCK FUCK FUCK!" She tripped and fell as she royally botched the landing, slamming straight into Ryan's chest.

Talk about getting physical.

Ryan Brady - Class DY

"W-Woah!" Ryan looked side to side as he realized where there was once one Sue, there were now three. And...well, the way that she blew those hairs at him kinda was like a kiss. Ryan looked at the clones and noted how identical they were.

And then she took out some kind of red staff and displayed the ability to call upon some sort of...of nimbus cloud, he guessed. Though this did make Ryan kind of wonder if Sue could do a Kamehameha or something. Questions for later—-

And then she appeared to really botch the landing and she tripped, fell and launched herself right into Ryan's solid body. He easily caught himself before he could be pushed backward, and made sure her fall didn't result in any more issues. And...wow, Sue's face was pressing up against his pecs.

Ryan looked down at her with a blush and then quickly helped her back up, "Jeez...wow, so you can fly and do all that...really uh, impressive," Ryan then looked around and decided to share his own power once there was room between the two of them.

He raised one hand and concentrated for a minute, creating a large blue spout of energy and heat from his hand that briefly flared a few times before Ryan got it under control. He grit his teeth a bit and put it under stronger control, and then explained to her, "My power...can sometimes be pretty dangerous. Basically, I'm a living hydrogen bomb, able to output a lot of energy. I just have to work to make sure that energy...doesn't come out with any fallout additives." Ryan checked his little device on his wrist to make sure he wasn't producing anything potentially dangerous.

And he was relieved to see he wasn't.

"It kind of is my first time playing in a homeroom or really being in a class like this or being just um...." Okay, maybe saying this was her first time just being approached in years sounded weird. They were just talking. "or... really just playing an entrance song for a class." That was true and less troublesome. "Nike has a way of making you feel—making me feel energetic."
"And that's not what you asked. I'm going off topic." Ortrun ummed when Lucy clarified. For once she did not just stare at Lucy. Her eyes wandered as usual when she got stuck. She watched the anthropomorphic monkey er... puff into two anthropomorphic monkeys, which meant she saw it coming in time to duck and try to pull Lucy into a duck. That was after the wiry boy came through towing (?) a gravity and theme-defying desk and chair.
"Umm...sorry" Ortrun returned her gaze to Lucy or rather looking down and off-center in Lucy's general direction. "I haven't done anything particularly super no... I've done some writing...? Er..." Okay that was pathetic. "Er... sorry, I mean: do you..." What does one ask about battling on the front lines in uniform? "do super things... you just told me. I mean..." She exhaled. "do you do anything like that?" She pointed to the sudden antics in the class. Which had been done.
