Hello and welcome to "Hit By The Frame Bus And Now I'm In A Poorly-Coded Fantasy World". Before we begin proper here's the link to the signup thread. And now, let's get on with out adventure.

To say that everything was dark was not correct. The blackness that surrounded everything was a lack of senses, no sight or sound or ever-present tingle of touch. Just the void, and just the memory of how you died. And then the void fades as dim light filters into vision and the creaking of stonework architecture floods back into hearing.

Through the filtered moonlight from a high-up window, it's obvious that everyone is in individual barred cells of a medieval prison. Somewhere out of sight, around a corner, an overwrought accent speaks and a slightly less grating one responds.

Prison Guard A: "So, what're they in for anyhows?"
Prison Guard 1: "I don't know, the mayor just brought them in and told me to lock them up."
Prison Guard A: "Must of done something to slag off the mayor of Raykbay. Who are they?"

Time seems to hesitate for a moment, for no perceptible reason. Looking out through the bars, you can see each other's cells across the hall. And for now, you have time to attain lucidity over what you have just experienced. Your death, and now, imprisonment.

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

Aoife – The Prison

A strained gasp was what announced Aoife's new state of awareness, and she quickly pushed herself up into a sitting position from the cold floor. Which naturally ended up scraping at her elbows, but given the shock from the high impact and the fact that everything felt wrong here she easily ignored it.

...What? No. No, wait. I was hit by... I'm dead, she concluded to herself, running her fingers through her hair and freezing as she felt distinctly pointed extensions of cartilage where her previously rounded ears had been. Is this hell? Am I a demon? What...?

A glance around, and she noted the other cells. Not modern cells, she realised. Ancient cells. Medieval cells. Rusted metal and a clear lack of proper sanitation. No depressing greys and other hospital type colours, just rough surfaces and a hint of primitiveness. Yet still effective.

...I died and went to prison, she thought flatly, cautiously getting up and wavering somewhat as she realised that she was much taller than she used to be. Wait, are these ears...?

She twanged them experimentally, and shivered as they twitched in reaction to the voices around the corner. The way they spoke implied that she'd been there a while. But for how long?

She eventually sat herself down again, feeling suddenly numb. There was no obvious way she could think of to get out of this. And she was sure she had just been hit. It was a fleeting impact before her consciousness left her, but for that small period of time it was the most excruciating agony she had ever been in. So why was she here now? Was this just her brain, trying to cope?

It was at this point that she registered the other cells. Not that she had ignored them; more specifically, she realised that there were other people in them. Which wouldn't have been significant if not for the words of what she assumed to be the guards. They mentioned in plural. So was she just one of many?

Maybe this is just some weird purgatory.

Despite her loss as to what to do, she found herself looking over at the cell opposite. She didn't realise her eyes had no pupils, nor that they appeared to be glowing in the dim light. She knew of her ears by touch only, but not of anything else. Regardless, she ended up casting a potentially unnerving image to whoever she happened to be staring at.

The Bay Prison

-A pounding headache. That's what he had. The young man stirs in his cell, his hand flying to his head.-

Agh...who...no...what hit me? I was gaming in my room...the wall deformed...ugh...

-He sits up with a groan.-

???:"Fuck me...someone get the number of that bus?"

-He freezes. His voice...was that his voice? No, his voice was deeper, not this aloof, almost nasely whine. He shakes his head, white hair falling in a disheveled mess before his eyes.-

Was it...always this white? Wait, where's my glasses??

-He slaps the side of his head, feeling for the plastic frame he was so accustomed to, but felt nothing.-

Wait...my ears?

-He fiddles with the newfound points his one human ears had-

What the hell? No way, no way!

-His mind raced as he tried to collect his thoughts.-

Ok...calm down...calm down [[REDACTED]]

-Beat-

[[REDACTED]]

-His name wasn't coming to mind either.-

-Not the name he knew.-

-But the name Runicas Fan Raem-

"Oh man, what a weird hospital." The last thing Lana could remember was getting hit by a bus, and then she was in here. She felt fine now, so obvy this was a hospital of some kind. And then she heard guards, and saw the dismal stonework. "Huh, had no idea painkillers caused lucid dreaming."

She was talking to herself at a normal speaking volume, until she noticed the people across from her. Much more directly fantasy-lookin-ass than the sort of sexy patterned dress she had on herself, all pointy ears and weird eyes. She heard them shuffling around, talking in hushed tones, and thought that sucked.

"Sup?" She asked them, at full volume to make sure they heard her. "I'm Lana."

Raykbay Prison

Maaris blinked as the sensation of sinking through emptiness gradually faded and was replaced by a feeling like being underwater, aside from the fact she could breathe. Except being in water outdoors should have meant hypothermia given how icy the roads were when she fell... And then...

She put a hand to her head as she sat up and discovered it felt rather like gelatin, and then she noticed her hand was blue and slightly transparent, like looking through dyed water. "...I'm dead, huh... And now I'm a ghost?" She pinched her cheek and pulled, it was kind of stretchy and sprang back when she let go. But more importantly it hurt, were ghosts supposed to feel physical pain?

Belatedly she noticed her unfamiliar surroundings and that they held all the classic imagery of a dungeon, and there were other people in other cells. Given they were all in a prison that had to mean they were all thieves and murderers and worse. Right?
...Or, going by the voices coming from elsewhere, they had all somehow pissed off a mayor.

Maaris: "Well, crap"

Out of all the interpretations of the afterlife she'd ever heard, this had to be one of the most strangely mundane... But if this really was the afterlife, why was she the only 'ghost'?

"Anyone seen St Peter and the pearly gates?"

The Prison Cell

Galdra recalls his very last memory of the impact. These details were... odd, to say the least. He had heard rumours of a real life glitched bus, and in an attempt to study (and because he lost an online bet) said bus, curiosity had killed the cat.

He managed to grab a photo of said bus and it automatically sent to his online friends, yet it was of the front. He remembers the feeling of flying through the air, although it hurt less than he anticipated. In fact, it didn't hurt at all! He landed safely on the ground... Then nothing. He went to sleep.

He rubs his eyes awake. "I have school!!" He says, eyes still closed. "It's Saturday...".

After laying back down, his head hit the solid brick floor. He yelps in pain, and realized that he wasn't in his hometown anymore. "Is this.... No, this can't be a dream." He says to himself as he closely examines his surroundings.

He can see and feel every tiny detail as though it was reality, from the tiny cracks and dots to the floor, to the tempreture of his room and the feeling of his skin. The dimly-lit cell gives off a soothing vibe, although he sees no light-source. He attempts to recall his memories.

Despite the fact that Lana's and Maaris' words met his ears, he was too indulged in his own thoughts to notice them. "Let's see... I was hit by the frame bus, then-" His eyes widened. "No way... Have I finally done it!?" He now has a huge grin on a face. He gets up, and shouts: "I've finally been isekai'd!!!!? Thank you, anime gods!!" His words echoed throughout the prison.

Aoife – Raykbay Prison

“...Aoife,” the blonde-haired elf replied to Lana, matching her volume if only temporarily. Another glance around the other cells now that she could better see the ones occupying them. Someone else with pointy ears, somebody made of... gelatine(?), and the one who had just identified herself as ‘Lana’ seemed to be... normal.

Which was ironically in this case the odd one out.

“I saw the front end of a bus...” she mentioned, looking at Maaris a moment. The more she spoke, the more strange she felt about her voice. It had kept her accent from before, but it was a distinctly different tone than she was used to. “No gates. Or... Peters. If this is heaven, this is more like... Viking heaven.”

Got a feeling it's not as easy as that.

The shout from another one of the cells caused her to flinch instinctively, and she inwardly groaned as she realised exactly what type of person it had come from. Still, benefit of the doubt. The shock might've translated into excitement, that's all. But he seemed a little too euphoric.

Had he even died?

-More voices...and one was screaming! That did wonders for his headache.-

Runicas:“Well...we've got the grab bag when it comes to emotions here don’t we...”

-Runi shuffles over to his cell door-

“But well...can’t have it all when it comes to prison-mates...”

That loud one...did he say Isekai? Did he get killed too? Guy sounds way too happy if he did.

“Well...if we’re doing introductions...it’s [[REDACTED]]...”

-Beat-

Bleeps me out trying to say it too? Jeeze.

-A shake of the head-

“Runicas Fan Raem...uh...or...I guess Runi if it’s too long?”

"Is that some chinese word?" Lana asked in response to the literal shouting. Not a fan of that. The other people, also knowing about buses, seemed to still jive with lucid dreaming, like she was talking to herself or something. The Runicas guy seemed to be different though. Hm. She stepped towards the cell bars.

"Well, it's nice to meet you. How about we figure out a way out of these cells?" She asked.

Galdra finally notices the other prisoners and takes notes of their appearance. He actually hears their responses, this time. Although he flinched at the bleep- it was a little too loud for him.

"Why'd you just bleep!?" He shouts, he shouts again. He then sighs, and returns to a normal tone of voice. "I'm..." His full name flashes within his mind eye, unexpectedly. "Um... I suppose I'm Galdra." He says.

"And that's Japanyese to you!" He says with a clear tone of frustration within his voice.

"Guards there's a spider!!! Kill it!!" He shouts- his voice somehow becomes girly enough to do an accurate impression. His voice echoes throughout the prison once again.

"Hold on." He says. Finally realizing that his voice had suddenly turned feminine and with a higher pitch. Also... it now has a super weird accent?

On second thought, those glowing eyes could belong to a ghost. Maybe. But on second look she seemed rather corporal, if a tad creepy in moonlit atmosphere.

Maaris: "What, like Valhalla? I thought there'd be more booze there. Anyway, I'm Ma-ris? Maaris..."

Strange, the name didn't seem to come out right, but before she could give that much thought one of their other cell mates started loudly celebrating the anime gods deliverance into this prison.

And the other pointy eared male was, bleeped out? Concerning.

"WHY are you calling the guards?" She grumbled at the... Cat eared prisoner. Well, she'd heard some people would kill for animal people to be real. "Geeze..."

In any case, trying escape right now was probably suicidal with this much noise going on, whatever they were in for the guards certainly wouldn't appreciate seeing an attempted prison break.

Runi: “How am I supposed to know why my name gets bleeped out?!”

-And now the cat person is yelling-

“You’re doing wonders for my migraine, fuzz head! What makes you think they won’t kill you?!

Galdra smirks. If one notices, his pink and blue eyes have been glowing in the dark this whole time. One of them blinks- he just winked, signalling that he is indeed planning something.

"Hehe, there really is a spider, though." He looks down on the floor where a spider just happened to be resting on a web. In front of the web was a puddle. Galdra looked down on it.

Instead of his usual appearance, he was met with a feminine appearance. One could easily mistake him for a feline at first glance.

"Holy shit... I'm cute as hell!!". He claps his hands together in a praying position. "Thank you, isekai gods." He whispers this time- mindful of his cellmates headaches.

He further observes his other neko qualities. He feels up his normal human ears all the way up to his cat ears. He strokes his long and fluffy tail, which has enough length to form a makeshift scarf out of it. "The four ears are kinda weird... But I could get used to this, I suppose." He says to no one in particular.

Despite the talking and even despite the shouting, the guards don't seem to be reacting; but as the moonlight grows stronger through the prison windows there is the sound of running.

Guard 1: What in the Scar is going on out there?
Guard A: It's the moon, it's-

An explosion subtly shakes the prison and white light flashes through the corridor. Another flash, another shake, something is happening outside the walls of the prison. And then there's the thuddering crash that knocks all the cell doors open.

Aoife – Raykbay Dungeons

“I mean I could use some booze right now, ” Aoife muttered, but soon the distant terror of the guards alerted her, and her enlarged ears visibly twitched even though she was in shadow. Something about the moon...?

The ensuing explosions caused her to yelp instinctively and scramble back, but upon seeing the cell doors fly open she immediately rushed out. She was on high alert, trying to identify just what was going on while putting faith in the fact that the others wouldn't be confrontational. The explosion was one thing, but the flashes were another. Lightning? Or a deliberate attack?

Something tingled in her lower spine, enough for her to look down at herself in concern. It was a sputtering, of sorts. Softly glowing particles of fiery light, emanating from her person. But that was all she caught by the time she turned her attention downwards. Was there something wrong with–

...No.

She'd think about it later. As of right now...

“Okay. Let's get out of here,” she half-whispered to she rest of them, cautious so as not to alert the guards right away. Now that she was out more in the light, her eyes had dimmed slightly—though they were still seemingly a blank green, as if her pupils were either imperceptible or absent completely. “Do we... have anything? To help I mean? Or should we just run? I'll be honest; I'm kinda scared,” she admitted, feeling at least a little relief from saying it even if it didn't help the situation much. “Last I checked I was just crossing the street and now it's all... this.

"Those are fuckin' cops, you guys, just make a break for it!" Lana said, and while she did at least come tearing out of her cell she also held back, holding out a hand to grab or help anyone who looked like they needed it. She wanted to stress urgency, but these people were clearly friendly and she'd be stupid to try to suss out their credentials when there was a shining hallway and imminent cave-in. Fuck it, no subtlety. "Everyone okay though? Nobody need helping out of their cell?"

"Ugh, why is the moon so bwight in this world...?" Galdra says to himself. But I'm not sure if this world even has any booze." He replies to Aoife.

His cat ears perk up from the rumbles of the prison cells. Both his fur and hair on his head fuzz up like a cats, his tail pointing straight. He is on high alert with his adrenaline running. He stands on his toes.

"A mage fight...?" He thinks. His night vision turns off and his eyes return to normal. He can now see the area around him in its natural state. He crawls out of his cell.

"Um... I'm nyot good at this kind of thing. Reassuring people, I mean. Maybe just focus on the booze as your goal, for nyow?" He says, quietly. "All I have are these cute cat paws. Also, I'm ok." He says as he balls them up.

At first Maaris though her eyes were just getting used to the dark, and then she felt the tremors rock the building and reverberate through her body in a way that made it disconcertingly clear that she was rather less solid than she used to be.

Pushing herself off the ground and pushing that particular question aside, Maaris quickly exited her now useless cell.

Maaris: "Dunno about you lot but I'm not sticking around to see if this place gets bombed or whatever next"

She raised an eyebrow at the elf's magical looking glow, or whatever, but decided to ignore it in favor of not getting caught strategizing when they should be running.

"We've still got fists, if we run into any stubbornly dutiful guards we can always punch them out and steal their gear" Maaris clapped a fist into an open palm for emphasis and grinned, perhaps a bit over confidently considering she'd never actually fought someone before. "Looks like I'm a monster, so that's gotta count for something, right? So let's go"

Maaris didn't bother waiting for anyone to agree and continued on ahead, though she would stop to look around the corner to check if the guards from earlier were still there.

"Woah!"

-He shakes his head again to clear the ringing in his ears as he leaves his cell as well.-

"Y'know...I wouldn't say no to a beer...or for all this to be some coma dream that ends with my childhood friend watching over me!"

"Ah, u-um!" Galdra speaks up. "I don't think the guards are hostile, actually... They would've checked up on us earlier on, wouldn't they?" He says. "Also, our cells were already unlocked..."

He catches up towards Maaris. In the meanwhile, he observes his clothes: He appears to be wearing a gown of sorts. Although at the same time, it is almost like a customized maid outfit. He feels his clothes, which have a very soft feel to it. "Huh. I appear to be wearing maid shoes as well..." He notes.

The prison hall is built in a weird way, possibly for defensive purposes. As the group rounds a corner they can see the static shadows of the two guards on the wall lit by torchlight but as they approach and turn the corner... There's nothing casting the shadow, a closer inspection of the shadows on the wall suggests they are some kind of image that's been put on it, like paint or something.

Upside, the room just beyond where the guards would of been standing is a barracks full of beds and a few weapon racks. The door onwards is a portcullis operated by a lever on the wall, likely to allow the room to be secured from the inside in case of attacks.

Aside from the occasional flash of moonlight through one of the windows, the place is quiet currently; a good time to locate some gear and prepare for the rest of the escape.

It's clearly a case of backroom political albumizing.

Galdra notes the almost off-model shadows. His hair and fur raise slightly, signalling that he is rather unnerved at the moment.

Aoife – Raykbay Dungeons

Okay, guess we're doing this instead, Aoife thought tiredly, wincing initially at the volume of her newfound companions before relenting and agreeing with the assertion that the guards needn't be hostile. After all, they would've come running to check on them.

...If only had they existed.

Aoife stared at the bodiless murals apparently mimicking shadows for a while too long, to the point where she crashed into the back of Galdra with a grunt and staggered away a few steps before regaining her balance. A reassertion of the room and her eyes widened considerably—almost immediately drawn to the weapons and gear stacked all around them and only distractedly replying to the others following suit.

“Galdra, huh? My name's Aoife... Sheehan. I think,” she frowned, lightly touching the side of her head. “Head's a little... weird. Don't have a plan either,” she mentioned, beginning to rifle through the piles for something she could use. A halberd was tossed by, along with a broadsword and battleaxe. She wasn't the type to wield heavy weaponry. “Just following you guys. I don't know what the heck is going on but if it means getting out of here I don't mind putting a little faith in– oh!”

She had found something, after letting the longbow she had been considering drop to the floor by her side. It was a somewhat battered metal discus, ringed and sharpened at the edges instead of simply flat and blunt and seemingly made of overlapping segments rather than being a solid piece. Runes and markings were etched without much fanfare upon its surface—if it had been gilded or otherwise decorated before, it was long rubbed off from its visage.

After a second or two of staring at the thing, she cautiously began to reach down to touch it. Upon doing so though, it twitched and seemed to fly up a metre or two so as to match her height—causing her to inhale sharply and almost trip over the pile of discarded weapons she had left at her feet. Instead of lunging like she had expected it to, the hovering discus merely rotated slowly in the air with its segments separating and orbiting itself at different speeds and intervals. Reaching towards it again with about twice as much hesitation than before, Aoife again noted the tingle in the base of her spine as she finally managed to grip it and look it over—her brain seeming to click into something as she slowly let the thing go and watched idly as it floated around her until it disappeared behind her; settling itself into the small of her back seemingly as if to stow itself away.

“...Okay. Think I made a friend,” she said slowly, experimentally raising her right arm and watching as the discus slunk back out to corkscrew around it—ending up floating gracefully at the end of her palm. “And it's a weird metal Frisbee.”

A helpless look crossed her face before she sighed and palmed her forehead—the discus thankfully manoeuvring back behind her so as not to slice her face open as she did so.

“Okay. Think I'm... think I'm done. These... robes are fine, I guess,” she murmured, gesturing to the somewhat airy dress she currently seemed to be wearing. A little basic and dirtied due to the cells, but they'd work for now. “Anything you guys can see? I can stand guard with my... killer Frisbee– christ almighty...”

Galdra nearly topples over, but his cat aspects keep him well-balanced. He chuckles a little from the accident, brushing it off.

"Well hey there, Aofie." He says. "Yeah, you likely feel weird from being in a new body. You'll get used to it!" He says in a confident tone as he smiles.

He dodges the piles of weaponry and the such and admires all the items the other heroes got. "I'm jealous, now!" He says in a playful tone. He gets to working and digs through the pile.

He tosses a few generic looking weapons. "Boring, boring, I don't like knives... Boring sword. Boring demon sword." He grabs out a white sword. It looked like a legitimately holy sword. The handle had writing on it, and it was made in gold.

Galdra closely inspects it... the makes a disgusted face. It was hard to describe, really. But it was like he knew He was going to be disappointed in the results, in a way. He re-buries it deep within the pile.

"Ahhh, why isn't anyth-" He gasps. He discovers a chain and he yanks it out from the pile, revealing that it is a flail. "I love you." He whispers. His expression is now one of pure joy and relief.

Galdra attempts to find clothes from the pile. "I suppose these will do for now..." He dons a red robe with horns. There are some yellow inscriptions written on it, depicting drawings of... a civilisation? "These feel like pyjamas..." He says to himself. He puts the hoodie over his head and a shadow automatically grows over his face, enabling his glowing eyes. Although his vision is only lit just a bit from his point of view. "Cool." He says.
