Oh boy I remember watching an LP of this game. It looked so awkward to play.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThat just reminds me of how SEGA unceremoniously dropped their other side scroller beat-em-up, Streets of Rage. Allegedly a Dreamcast title was well into development at one point. I'm not sure what's worse between that and this.
It took years of time and fan devotion to cure that. That's about all Golden Axe can hope for, too.

E.T technically is a Isekai movieThis episode made me hungry… never heard of this franchise but this whole story is pretty surreal.
Also that out-of-nowhere Zardoz reference.
This game could've been Polybius all over again if it weren't for the physical copies.
I'm surprised you've never heard of it. It was big on the DS and Wii.
I was excited for a Switch installment, but the game's a huge downgrade from the 3DS titles.
Not to mention the bitcoin thing.
That one is proven to be fake. With that said the developers really want to polish this game but the publisher wouldn't have it. Also it's strange, wouldn't the IP holder (the devs) have more power over this? They're suing the publisher but the publisher is also doing a counter-sue.
The shady and weird release really made people feel there is something wrong about this game
E.T technically is a Isekai movieToday, Matt delves into the biggest tragedy in console history.
50 million for Shenmue… I'm not sure most modern AAA games cost 50 million!
…Oh, and Matt definitey has to do something about the Atari Jaguar.
That price tag's not that unusual for today. A lot of AAA game budgets are obscenely bloated these days, which is why you always see publishers say they "performed below expectations", because there's no way they could've possibly made that much money back.
In a quite a few cases that "below expectations" line comes after unrealistic expectations in regards to unit sales. 8 million units is not a failure EA.
If you can't handle being outed by a signature, that's on you.Since consoles are fair game, and given the references to the Atari Jaguar in this vid, maybe he'll cover that piece of garbage soon.
Disgusted, but not surprisedShenmue was actually a major push forward in its time. Its cost reflected that.
And nowadays it's very much a case of Seinfeld Is Unfunny, and Shenmue III reflects that.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI'd argue nowadays, the big budget is due to marketing taking up and bloating a lot, it's what happens when gaming went ultra mainstream.
Also 3dfx apparently folded down and was bought by nvidia. Didn't know the whole voodoo tech came from them.
"We have to do something about the Atari Jaguar" probably the most funny things i heard this episode.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieWas Atari really a threat back then? Because even Sony and Nintendo didn't seem to care abou tthem. Hell I don't remember Atari's existence when I was a kid from the NES years.
They literally made their own console,so yes they were a big player back then
New theme music also a boxThat doesn't necessarily make you a big player in and of itself.
Just look at the Ouya.
They were bigger then the people were made the Oya,the people who made the oya were a kickstarter project that somehow got funded,no,Atari were an actual company with people backing them
New theme music also a boxThey were big, but mostly in the pre-Crash era from what I get… but they were already outdated by the time the Megadrive came out.
Holy shit that Isao Okawa.
He personally loaned Sega hundreds of millions of his own private funds & then waved off the loan on his death bed out of nothing but the apparent kindness of his heart.
That man is a saint, A SAINT I SAY!!!!!!!
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
*cough*Iuseadblock*cough*
Anyway, this week we get another overambitious game by an underequiped studio.
You gotta admire how Matt always finds new and inventive ways to introduce the Crunch.
